You kill PCs until the players learn because you love them. Eventually people understand what robe AC and 4 hp means. And that low Wis is no excuse to pile PCs into the meatgrinder.

Yeah it's always a bad sign when you join a group and they are insistent you play a healer. My last group I took 3 levels of Cleric just for the armor and aid. Mainly so I could tell them "I didn't become a life cleric to heal you! I did it for the Armor." Or "I already healed you when I cast max level aid." Between spending my highest spell slot on aid and the Paladin's Inspiring Leader feat we had lots of HP.
I made the most OP cleric of all time in 3.5. I could basically heal all day and because my pantheon was about healing I got extra XP for doing it. I was a pacifist so I wasn't allowed to attack and hurt anyone, basically just keep our party alive. Because of the XP bonus I slowly pulled away and I think I was like 11th level when the rest of the party was all around 7th. When they realized I was higher level than them they started complaining. I was like... I can't even attack anything. My only job it to keep you all alive and the more powerful I am the better I can do that.
@@DarkxAzi I suspect that's because healer are vital to a MMO because it requires real time execution, it both tactical and strategic in nature. In a table top rpg it is more like slave labor. A DM can address that by creating scenarios that better integrate the healing classes other abilities.
Hidden deep inside (not even shown on their Character sheet), most clerics are already multiclassed. Most often their alignment, sometimes in comparison to the group's, did decide if as Barbarian, Knight or Bard.
I have actually done that with a Cleric character in a Curse of Strahd campaign. I liked the idea of a D&D version of "Dracula versus something", and knowing that my fellow players had chosen Fighter, Rogue and Ranger, I went with Cleric, specifically a Doctor (Life Domain), but this doctor has a little secret which rears an ugly head when she gets stressed...

Yet neither of them are multi-classed, nor do I plan on multi-classing at all. Same for my other 10 Characters, I don't intend on ever multi-classing.
Love the new girl, her presence really makes it that much more obvious how deranged the party is, which is saying something considering there's an episode called murder hobos
It also spotlights how groups who have been playing together for a while tend to develop their own unique style, slang, memes, etc and what's internally normal for them can seem weird as singing turds to somebody new who doesn't know them yet.

Whenever my group has a healer, the party forms a protective shield around them, treats them like a god, and anyone who even dares to llok at them funny meets the wrath of a 1000 murderhoboes. My group values their healer is what I'm saying...
Proper murderhobos usually learn the value of formation combat. At some point you start rolling around with a platoon of dudes. Even before that, people start to think in terms of small-unit tactics. You start to understand what a point man is or the value of coordinated fire.

At higher level you might have one or two fireballs per day. A line of mercs with guns is a less limited resource. They can carry powder and shot to hold the line for one skirmish after the other.
I knew someone who played a healer in a post-apoc setting once. She had an enchanted crowbar that cast a healing spell on hit. So she'd just run around beating the wounded with a crowbar.
Everyone can seduce people. We've had druids, priests and magic-users seducing more people. There is no social skill roll, you just have to be charming and seductive. The big issue is that the moon-insectoid is a heathen, and the priest is a follower of Jesus Christ. Other than that you just serenade away.

You might roll a reaction roll that helps the DM judge what the gut reaction of an encounter is to the sudden presence of a troop of paramilitary goons. It's always up to judgement. Something like a beholder's "neutral" reaction is unreasonable hatred for all other life, including other beholders. The worst reaction a shop owner in town will give is to shoo you out of the store, bar the door and threaten to call the constabulary. Early bards were some kind of fighter-wizard-thief combo blokes. AD&D 2e bards had half the rogue skills of a thief, could use most weapons not quite as good as a fighter and learn spells one level worse than a wizard. They could sway a crowd and gather rumours faster.

I was playing a cleric. I missed a session but figured, its fine just use my character for heals. The Dm gave control to the wizard, who decided "Clerics can fight in close so i'm going to fey step into the middle of this room and fight." My character died. Everyone else ran. They were slowly picked off one by one by wounds I probably would have been able to heal. Moral of the story, don't abandon the healer, don't give control of the healer to an idiot.
Grave Domain Cleric: "Eh, I'll heal you when you're dying, you"ll feel more benefit" Trickster Domain: *busy with shenanigans* *forgets to pack heal spells* Light Domain: "BURN IN THE CLEANSING FLAME!"
I multiclassed my light cleric into evocation wizard. As a tier 4 character, he is a master of light and fire with the highest DC of all my characters and able to impose disadvantage on most of those saves (enemies only).
My immediate reaction to seeing this up in my feed was to let out a little child like "Yay!" People around me are looking at me and silently judging me now. Also I had to look up how to spell yay cause it just looks like nonsense written down.
It's only a mild case of, super herpegonosyphillaids. You'll be fine. Take some antibiotics, get a firm, dressed down scolding from the Cleric of your party, & walk it off, you big baby!

This is very similar to sysadmin appreciation day in IT circles. Makes sense, they're both undervalued, and spend most of their time either fixing someone else's mistakes, or playing Quake.

Reminds me of a war cleric that was in one of my campaigns. I think he had a 30 ac by the end of the campaign. He took every magic item that increased his ac, and feats that reduced the damage. At the end of the campaign we fought Tiamat, he blocked her breath attack with his shield, and deflected it. He was a beast.
We've serenaded people, had drunk brawls, used horse racing fame, taken frontier settlers for magic carpet rides, grilled awesome parrot-pigs. All of it more fun than this nonsense.

Keep in mind: when you’re a healer the lives of your party members are in your hands. Meaning you can decide to "accidentally" run out of spell slots before you get to certain party members.

I am still not sure how a canon firing standard shot could wipe out an entire party. As they don't have much in the way of AOE damage . A canister of grapeshot would struggle unless said party is really bunched up and close to said canon.

Good thing about 5E. Every class has healing. Clerics are now just holy mages! And both clerics and wizards can tank. Barbarians can cast spells! I mean shit, thanks to 5E I'm a mid-range off tank DPS Warlock mixing melee and magic on the same action.

Yeah, a Bard really should be filling in any gaps in the party makeup, or easing the burdan. He appears to jsut be trying to seduce and if not that, swashbuckling a bit. Bards of all types are good CC/Support Casters and solid healers. Seems he's just playing it for the stupid meme.

what i love about the characters in this series, is that everyone is perfect in their role. Vlithryn, not only express perfectly her emotions, but is also able to scream with a very high tone, that quite remembers an aquatic creature
that's why I play a grave domain cleric: Let your party fall in battle and when they cannot complain anymore you heal them up so they don't have to use saving throws. Also "spare the dying" as PB-AoE-Spell is pretty useful.
Honestly, the "stop running into melee range as a ranged" really hits different when you lose to the final boss because 4/5 of your party is ranged and only you are staying back.. :I *external scream*
You gotta respect Evandra immensely in this video. She isn't problematic like Antrius & Nixie, she has genuine medical problems that require healing. YET, she doesn't demand it & appreciates it.
First year of our campaign, we never had a proper healer, so the bard would always joke about being the designated healer. Now we have like five paladins and a squad of clerics that rotate into the party every week. Fights are nearly impossible to make challenging unless the boss can one hit them.

This reminds me of being a combat medic in an artillery battalion. I felt the same way with the gun bunnies. It also reminds me of being a party healer. It is funny because it is true.
Clerics, if you ever feel like the party is just treating you like a heal bot, tell them you'll heal them, and then cast inflict wounds ON THEM with a max level slot. It's why you got that spell to begin with.
There's only two possible paths for a cleric: -Elementary School Nurse trying to keep a bunch of rowdy children from killing themselves by licking mimics or cuddle dragons -Imperator Lionheart crusading across the land destroying everything which dares oppose them as they demonstrate why the gods above and below rule supreme over the land Both of them can easily lead to madness of varying varieties
Ended up playing both in my first campaign. My Life cleric routinely had to stop the party from TPKing but by the end of the campaign ended up carrying a bandolier of magic missiles, had enough HP to basically be the tank, and had an AC of 26 before shield of faith.
In a lot of systems there is no divine monopoly on healing. Any wizard can easily come up with a non-divine way to heal a chump. Then you need to figure out what else a priest is than just another wizard.
The party fails to realize that the cleric /chooses/ to heal, she can just as easily choose to harm, instead. *Smiles in Grave Domain Cleric*

We got a priest of Jesus in power armour in the group. Everyone playtested strange specialist classes, so we ended up without an actual warrior.
My cleric is a holy terror. She has 20+ armor class and loves to use Inflict Wounds when she gets close enough.
Reminds me of a war cleric that was in one of my campaigns. I think he had a 30 ac by the end of the campaign. He took every magic item that increased his ac, and feats that reduced the damage. At the end of the campaign we fought Tiamat, he blocked her breath attack with his shield, and deflected it. He was a beast.
Judging by the opening scene, Antrius and Nixie have different ways of flirting.
We've serenaded people, had drunk brawls, used horse racing fame, taken frontier settlers for magic carpet rides, grilled awesome parrot-pigs. All of it more fun than this nonsense.

I am still not sure how a canon firing standard shot could wipe out an entire party. As they don't have much in the way of AOE damage . A canister of grapeshot would struggle unless said party is really bunched up and close to said canon.

Yeah, a Bard really should be filling in any gaps in the party makeup, or easing the burdan. He appears to jsut be trying to seduce and if not that, swashbuckling a bit. Bards of all types are good CC/Support Casters and solid healers. Seems he's just playing it for the stupid meme.

that's why I play a grave domain cleric: Let your party fall in battle and when they cannot complain anymore you heal them up so they don't have to use saving throws.
Also "spare the dying" as PB-AoE-Spell is pretty useful.

Everyone can seduce the marquis. There is no class requirement to it. You just need to be seductive.
Honestly, the "stop running into melee range as a ranged" really hits different when you lose to the final boss because 4/5 of your party is ranged and only you are staying back.. :I *external scream*

Vlithryn is secretly the most powerful character in the party. Don't mess with a healer who is more than a simple spell slinger.
This is exactly what being a cleric is like till you have the party trained on when to say ouch.
You gotta respect Evandra immensely in this video. She isn't problematic like Antrius & Nixie, she has genuine medical problems that require healing. YET, she doesn't demand it & appreciates it.

As a long-time healer-player...
I felt this one in my soul.
First year of our campaign, we never had a proper healer, so the bard would always joke about being the designated healer.
Now we have like five paladins and a squad of clerics that rotate into the party every week. Fights are nearly impossible to make challenging unless the boss can one hit them.

This reminds me of being a combat medic in an artillery battalion. I felt the same way with the gun bunnies. It also reminds me of being a party healer. It is funny because it is true.

Damn, I thought it was gonna end with the Cleric casting a powerful spell and killing the enemies all in one blow. Because Clerics are very powerful.
"Let's not lose our heads" So the enemy one isn't counter, right?
Clerics, if you ever feel like the party is just treating you like a heal bot, tell them you'll heal them, and then cast inflict wounds ON THEM with a max level slot. It's why you got that spell to begin with.
There's only two possible paths for a cleric:
-Elementary School Nurse trying to keep a bunch of rowdy children from killing themselves by licking mimics or cuddle dragons
-Imperator Lionheart crusading across the land destroying everything which dares oppose them as they demonstrate why the gods above and below rule supreme over the land
Both of them can easily lead to madness of varying varieties
Ended up playing both in my first campaign. My Life cleric routinely had to stop the party from TPKing but by the end of the campaign ended up carrying a bandolier of magic missiles, had enough HP to basically be the tank, and had an AC of 26 before shield of faith.
In a lot of systems there is no divine monopoly on healing. Any wizard can easily come up with a non-divine way to heal a chump.
Then you need to figure out what else a priest is than just another wizard.
Because of this episode, I have Instigated the "I'm not gonna heal you because you won't learn anything if I do" rule
