Honestly, Red and Blue are the perfect examples for why JoCat had a point at the end. These players were not disruptive, but because GM was having a mental breakdown he assumed they meant to be condescending to his story, rather than just pointing out what they thought were cool influences. Classic mistake, this always happens when you have 34 players in a single session
Balancing would be pretty funny in something like that.
I suppose for brevity they should probably be separated into squads and a designated squad leader rolls for initiative
🤔 squad leader should probably also act as a sub DM. Collecting and gathering the appropriate information to pass along to the true DM when it gets around to their turn.
Yup, that’s why a lot of people have made it a rule to never have 34 people in one session. Look up Rule 34 for more info

Hi! Sorry, new to D&D here. And by new I mean I played one 3 hr session and thought the DM role was so bad*@ss that I want to make it my main role!
2 things. 1 I had no idea a D&D party could go passed 7 players! 2 Why wouldn't people want to DM? It's the most diverse role!
@@sarahholzapfel4230 People don’t want to DM because their job is to make the entire story for the campaign. Sure, you can use a pre-made campaign, but lots of times players will do things that can derail the entire story, and you have to improv on the fly.
The more players you have, the faster you have to think on your feet, to the point DMing can be crazy stressful.
Edit: Also, you have to figure out the enemies they face are depending on their levels, classes, etc., because if you pick poorly they’ll either steamroll the campaign or all be killed every other session.
This video alone got me into wanting to DM, and I’ve quite enjoyed it. Thank you, it’s been a wonderful few years.!

0:37 is great. The extended f kinda makes him sound like a deflating balloon.
6:05 and the Rogue trying to steal the Paladin’s rosary beads. Golden.

Everyone’s talking about how he got Matt Mercer but are we gonna talk about how he got him here to tell him no one cares? The balls on this guy
And then ended up using Matt's usual advice anyway when Jo advised it. It all came full circle
Thank you lol! I was just like what the hell he did it.

And no one should care.

Coming back after almost a year and a half of not playing dnd, this video has inspired me to what to pick up my dm screen again. Thank you Jocat
This whole series was so awesome! This was the best and craziest way to cap the DnD Crap Guide. I can't imagine how much time and work this took, but it was so great to see it come together. You're awesome JoCat and thank you for giving us this. Thank you for sharing your creativity.
“Nobody cares, Matt Mercer!”
Comedy gold.
*Sad Matt Noises*
I love how he had the foam noodles still
You can certainly try #CriticalRole
Hahaha
Except in the end, it turns out Mercer was right. Just talk to the players.
Bullying Matt Mercer for his good and healthy attitude was and will forever be the moral of your story.
Ikr? I like that Matt's advice was legit exactly what was needed in the end.
Also maybe don't try to run a game for 20 people with vastly different play styles
Also I'm p sure he slapped a bunch of pool noodles out of his arms as a ref to his first crap guide.
There was a missed opportunity to call Matt Mercer Mcree
Actually beautiful. I’m not joking when I say this makes me emotional. Very well done, thank you Jocat ❤
this is the best dnd vid in existence. we miss you jocat.
Literally brought the actual Matt Mercer on just to tell him to shut up...

Honestly the best part

Listen sir, I have the skin of a campaign done and improv every part after that. Sometimes it's a bone, sometimes its a leaf, or a dr pepper, or nothing at all. My rule for my campaign prep is, "You cant derail what isnt there" 😂
When the f*ck did the blind dragonborn get a gun? I don't remember giving him a gun! Has he always had a gun?
Should have looked at his character sheet, they had the feat Gunner the whole time! (it's a feat from the new book Tasha’s Cauldron of Everything)
Of course the blind guy is the one with a gun
I relate to this statement personally.
Why does Matt sound like he's doing an impression of himself.
have you ever seen voice actors read lines playing themselves? It's not that easy.
Everyone in the video is playing a caricature of themselves.
He was probably using his recording mic for this, and we're all used to hearing him through a shotgun mic that hangs ~4 feet above his head. Acoustics are weird like that.
I was thinking the same thing actually. Thought it was someone mimicing him, not the man himself :o
Dont read my PROFILē PICTURe :)

I was just surprised to hear members of Team Four Star in this, but once I hear Zito's voice I had to play the beginning again.

@@Deathkri ALL OF THEM! MMWAHAHAHAHAH
@@Chronostra Very true. They need oils in World so the new players can see SnS at its finest hour.
All these cameos are making me so excited. I'm fighting the urge to resist bouncing up and down in my chair right now. I wasn't even expecting Red and Blue from Overly Sarcastic Productions to be here, but I'm so glad they are! The ending of the video has a really great moral about how, sometimes, it's best if not everything goes the DM's way. The players are just as much of storytellers as the DM is, and if nothing goes the players' ways, they might not want to play anymore. You have to learn and adapt to your players, make up a compromise to keep them interested while things don't go completely south. It's about finding a balance between Order and Chaos. What a perfect way to end the series. Bravo!
People (especially new DM's) forget that DnD is a *cooperative* storytelling experience. So sometimes the best decision is to let other people make the decisions and wing it lol
This is extremely true. Every DM has to step back from time to time and remember that the players won't be interested in the story unless they have some impact on its progression.
An example of linear stories that feature extreme player input would be the better Telltale games like Wolf Among Us and The Walking Dead, where the choices the players made throughout the episodes could make or break the ending. Think also of Fallout New Vegas, where the weight of choices and character builds throughout the narrative could lead you to a host a different endings that all essentially communicated the same themes, but made the choices the players made the point of the story. This is an example of the kind of stories that DnD campaigns should revolve around. I like to aim for this level of thematic depth while also aiming for the more operatic grandeur of JRPGs like Final Fantasy, Breath of Fire, and Suikoden. Whether or not I achieve this, my players have to determine that. However, the moment I stop listening to their input and having the world bend around their choices is the moment that the game ceases and it's just stories around the campfire.
Now there is nothing wrong with stories around the campfire, but there is a big difference between that and TTRPGs.
I love the Nat 20 symbolising a godlike check at 18:40, excellent touch.
