- Central and Southern Dalmatia, a region along the eastern coast of the Adriatic Sea in Croatia, boasts a stunning landscape characterized by rugged mountains. One of the most prominent mountain ranges in this region are the Dinaric Mountains, which stretch from northwest to southeast, parallel to the coast. Several notable peaks rise within the Dinaric Mountains, offering beautiful views and outdoor adventures.
One of the iconic mountains in central Dalmatia is Biokovo. Biokovo is the second-highest mountain range in Croatia, reaching an elevation of over 1,700 meters (5,577 feet). Located near the city of Makarska, Biokovo is part of a nature park renowned for its diverse flora and fauna. Visitors can explore hiking trails that lead to stunning viewpoints overlooking the Adriatic Sea and nearby islands.
The mountains in this region, including the Biokovo range, often plunge steeply into the sea, creating a picturesque coastline dotted with secluded coves and beaches.
The mountains of central and southern Dalmatia not only provide stunning scenery, but also offer opportunities for outdoor activities such as hiking, climbing and mountain biking. In addition, the traditional villages in the region located on the mountain slopes provide an insight into the rich cultural heritage of Croatia, which together with the delicious local cuisine makes the area a fascinating tourist destination.

We were lucky with the weather. Although there were a lot of clouds from time to time, we only got a little wet once. Everything else was perfect.
