super videos , realized I didn't know as much as I thought I did, and knew lot's of stuff WRONG! Thanks
Happy to help!
Tks👌🏻... very helpful
Hi Eric, I enjoy your videos. Thank you.
I have a project that requires welding two small pieces of plastics ABS and PVC together, and it looks like the green one from Oatey is the only one that keeps coming up in my research. The color green is not aesthetically ideal for my purpose, is there a clear transition glue out there? If not, can I use the Uni-Weld 6200 to accomplish the task?
By the way, do you mind telling us why you would not recommend the green one as you stated in your video.
Tank you and I will wait for you reply.
No, don' t use the green stuff. Bad stuff. Use the Scigrip or one our multiglues. I give urls in the description for the "gluing abs" video. LMK if that helps. Thanks
Hello Eric. I have a situation on a dwv pipe that will take careful positioning. I am a slower worker on these careful angles. So I need a slooow setting glue for PVC. Can you help me with a recommendation?
What prep and glue would you recommend for putting together flex pvc and standard schedule 40 pvc? I'm changing out a pool filter lines if that makes a difference. Thanks
Always use primer and any of the good brands of clear or blue glue. see:

Eric I had a second question. If there is not a slower glue allowing a longer set time, is there a "trick" in the industry to retard the set time on PVC applications requiring careful positioning of pipe and fittings? Thank you for your videos,
Generally the heavy bodied glues are the longer setting. use this link: flexpvc.com/cart/agora.cgi?keywords=Uni1500 to find it. Thanks
Thank you!
I have a small drip coming from a 6 inch PVC tee. I was wondering the best way to fix the leak without replacing the spool
I will check out your other videos thank you
see video #3 at flexpvc.com/TechArticles/FlexPVCVidList.shtml
Thanks
What would be best for thin wall abs scaring been in ground heavy glue ???
I'm sorry but I don't understand the question. Can you rephrase it? Thanks
@@FlexPVC lol I'm good 2 yrs ago lol
ERIC do you guys carry end caps that are removable ? I believe they are called safety checker caps . I want to make a cache tube with one end that can be opened .
We have the Fernco caps if that is that is that you are referring to : flexpvc.com/cart/agora.cgi?p=Fernco-Rubber-Caps&xm=on
Thank you.
Thank You I will check them out . By the way I have shared the Bungee Cord design and even Linked to your bungee listing . You have a Blessed Day . .
Thanks much! You too. :-)
Also we have the orange test caps. See this page:
flexpvc.com/cart/agora.cgi?p=PVC-Fittings-Caps-Flat&xm=on
and look for the orange ones.
Is there a PVC glue that sets slower so I can make my connections without trying to do them as fast as I used to make them 50 years ago?
Yes, the heavy set glue does have a longer set time. See: flexpvc.com/cart/agora.cgi?p=PVC-Glue-Uniweld&p_id=Uni1500-16&xm=on&ppinc=detail
will you please share the combination
Yes, I'll try and get that done this week.
is it ok to use medium pvc cement on rubber or in place of contact cement ?
I doubt it'll make much of a bond on rubber. To really repair rubber you need an adhesive engineered to adhere to it. The best product we've seen for that is Aquaseal. It's here:
flexpvc.com/cart/agora.cgi?product=PVC-Glue
It has a limited shelf life once open so select the right size. We sell it in 1.5oz and 8oz tubes.
Yes. I use the thick dark blue adhesive on rubber and on tire patches. Although it's not the "exact" adhesive as I could buy the slime metal can liquid adhesive at walmart for around 6 bucks for 6 oz truth is it'll do perfectly fine and for the occasional use. An 8oz can will still go bad before you use it all for both things if you're the average Joe or average Jose like me who patches a tire or fixes one joint once a year. As for brand it literally doesn't matter they will all exceed what the pipe can handle.
What is the best to use in pvc for hydroponics? Is there danger in contact with water?
Once the glue has dried, there would be no difference. They all have a potable water rating, so that's as high as it gets, unless you get into the high purity lab stuff.
I dont understand Some glues are used for pressure someare used for non pressure etc etc If its all pvc and you would never want it to come apart - then why so many glues? 1 good glue should be fine
That's like saying "a bolt is a bolt, they both do the same job, why are there so many different bolts?
The different glues are for different situations and cost. The cheapest glues are not rated for pressure. The most expensive glues are for wet application and high pressure. Also, the glue for a 2" pipe is very different for one for a 6" pipe. The contact patch for a 2" pipe is 1/3 that of 6" pipe. ie, a 6" pipe has to seal nearly 3x as much. So the glue is different. Also drainage fittings are shallow socket, so the contact patch is much smaller than pressure rated fittings.
And yes there is a bunch of marketing going on. But there are also product liability issues. If you use a glue not rated for your application and it causes a failure and floods a house, you will be held responsible. So you have to with that the manuf. recommends.
And really there are not that many different glues/cements. It just looks that way till you realize there are differences. For example PVC vs. CPVC. CPVC is rated for 180F temp while PVC is only rated to 140F. So the glue for CPVC has to be engineered for the higher temp.
Long answer. Sorry. I hope I've answered it. Thanks for the question.
Useless it's confusing, you are unable to suggest which one is good
Everyone has their own needs. What you need might not be what I need. I give you the + and - of each one. It's up to you to determine which works best for you. And I was detailed in the video. Maybe watch it again and turn on CC.
Get someone who doesn't mumble at 100 mph. Can't understand 50%.
Sorry about the audio. Not one of our better videos. I'll make a new one.
Also try the CC button. It does work pretty well.
