  • Gladstone Bay Campground. Shark Bay Western Australia. This is a great spot to spend a couple of weeks if you have the time or are retired. Lots of open space for freedom and the chance to get out and get some fish with a good boat ramp. You can also have fires, generators and pets and has flushing toilets and a bore shower. If you love camping and travelling and want to see campgrounds and their individual campsites in Australia, check out my videos.
These videos and website thecampersatlas.com.au/ started off in the early nineties as markers and scribblings on a giant map of Australia on my games room wall of all the best places in Australia to go and camp, fish and four wheel drive. After many years of practical research as well as reading four wheel drive magazines and watching every camping, fishing and four wheel driving TV show (it’s been a harrowing and arduous task); I recently realised that come the time my wife and I can leave the kids behind and head off on a trip longer than a school holiday break; I’m either going to need a bloody big plastic sleeve to put the map in, or I’m going to have to drag myself kicking and screaming into the 21st century………
Though I haven’t been to every campground in Australia to video each one yet, I have done many in Western Australia and will continue until such time as I can do it full time and spend the rest of my life travelling the rest of Australia camping and videoing every campsite! It might take a while so bear with me…...Please show your support and SUBSCRIBE

I wonder why I have always disliked Gladstone but loved Bush Bay since they are such similar places? Maybe its all those posts...

I hear you there, but it's hard to go past flushing toilets and a hot shower!

I think it's one of those places you just have to experience your self to see if it's the kind of camping you like. Could really depend on the winds and the weather ( flies and heat) at the time, how close your neighbours were and what they were like. If you caught any fish, if you want to be alone or if you like to talk to others

Just spent a week up there ,loved it. Used to go to Tamala station which is now closed indefinitely until a land title dispute is resolved.
Pros , dump point, artesian shower fresh n hot all day long, flushing toilets , gas bottle refills . Friendly station owners , quiet spaced out camp areas , cheap rates .Cons. limited telstra signal ( if thats what u need), Restricted fishing areas and times of year restrictions .more so than any other shark bay region . Windy , more so than other shark bay areas ive been to, but may be seasonal. I reckon in peak itd be hard to find a decent site , but that's common nowadays post covid. Very few cons . Its a great peaceful place to get off grid n relax depending on what you require
