S= cells in series. P= cells in parallel. 2S = 2 cells in series. etc. 2s2p is 8.4v but will have 2 cells in parallel to provide more current and adds to overall mAh. So longer run times.
BEC stands for. Battery eliminater current. I'm a noob so I've been watching a lot of everything about rc cars. And it's fascinating about how the technology has changed from the radio shack where u had to chase it around with a little wire, to now. I love this wonderful hobby of ours. (tldr - get a lipo alarm so you don't undervolt and destroy your lipos)
I ran a 2S shorty lipo on my Schumacher CAT with a brushed motor. The motor died. None of the other electrical components got damaged. This is the second time a brushed motor died when I ran it with a lipo battery on my Schumacher CAT.
When I ran that Schumacher CAT with a brushless motor and that same lipo battery, that brushless motor never died.
When I used that same lipo battery on my Associated B6 with a brushless motor, that motor never died.
When I used that same lipo battery on my Gmade Sawback with a brushless motor, that motor never died.
I am convinced that my lipo battery burns out brushed motors.
Unfortunately the space in my Schumacher CAT is very small, and I don't think I can get a NiMh battery as small as my shorty lipo.
There is no reason why it should?
Maybe the motor is getting a little hot?
Can you run it with a heat sync?
Well im in a predicament haha. Ive "built" an rc boat that works on 2s but it needs more speed. Using a 16T 550 brushed motor with an old traxxas 1/16 esc and 2s battery. For 3s i have a brushed marine esc im going to try but im slightly concerned because the 550 motor on my trx-4 burns out with heavy 3s use. If that happens on the boat it will be bad news forsure. Maybe i will just limit throttle % and be careful. New to boats
