Castle Combe, our second track day of 2019 had us battling it out in all the track conditions! This inevitably lead to a lot of fun, some over the limit driving, and a few unhappy marshals...

306 driver is more talented and the clio driver have an awesome laughing, fun race i love it.
ChrifO Refes yeah but the 306 is much more loft off over steery as a car in general then the Clio
I think the talent levels are pretty on par. But the Clio 197 has a great chassis specially for track so is a lot more planted.
Imagine if those two had some communication device. This would have been hilarious.
Black flagged!! I am older, and more miserable, than the marshals and I thought you guys were epic. Feck 'em, keep cheering us up and enjoy.
The Marshall: "Dont have fun on my track! Get out! Make drifts on the street with your french car!"
That's not the reason. I used to work as a Marshall and we love seeing this stuff, but at the same time the job is to keep everyone safe. If you crash then it's more paperwork for us, and also we get questioned as to why we let a dangerous car stay on track (and can cause us to get in trouble). I used to work at a karting track too and we used to get people come down and throw these homemade frankenmachines about and then they got angry when we black flagged them for putting themselves and others in danger

Well, They´re great tires. Semislicks and rain just dont mix.
They were out to have fun not to set lap records. Not everything is about lap times you know despite what Top Gear and the like would have us believe.

What a nosense, these guys control everything excellent, and besides tracks are exactly for this purpose- to learn and train. What are they trying to promote; that drivers should have zero controlling skills when skid happens?

While I love their videos because they are fun and clearly they are talented drivers, I do think it's normal they get black flag for their shenanigans. There are rules in a track and they are breaking them.
That's the game they're playing and sometimes they lose.
@@Duron13 If you can't train controlling your car, there is no point in existence of tracks. And you can't learn that if you don't skid. Looks like track owners only whish to make money of bad drivers who only want to push some throttle on straights. If they don't allow actually pushing hard or learning how to control your car, these tracks are not worthy of visiting.

Get that gti-6 tuned son! Had one a few years back engine had a fair bit spent on it and it embarrassed a lot of far more expensive cars on track. Surprisingly reliable too!

This is exactly what track days are about. I think sometimes Marshalls get overly power hungry.
As I explained in other threads, we Marshal's do love to see this but at the end of the day our job is to keep everyone safe in the track. Having two guys doing this can lead to a lot of problems. If they crash it's a lot of paper work foe us and also we get in trouble for letting a dangerous car on circuit. Yes these guys are good but you see a lot of guys who do this stuff snd crash, and then other cars swerve to avoid and also crash etc etc. At the end of the day there are defined rules for the day to make sure everyone has a fun time and one of those rules is no drifting and the other is to drive within your limits or get pulled off
@@dannywhite132 That's fair enough but they were within their limits. If someone goes off, they go off. That's the point of a track. As long as they do it away from other cars I can't see the harm. It's just H&S culture.

I like the RS just because it's better looking but the 306 GTi6 seems more fun (or the driver really knows the car).
Love a 306 gti6 best budget hot hatch you can get had a mk2 ibiza years back took it round combe once didn't handle well needed a refresh o bushings ect, wish I had bought one of these instead.
Man, I really wanted to ride as a passenger in one of you while doing some shenanigans like this xD

As much as I like the fun side of it, this action surely doesn't belongs in an open trackday. You guys were lucky the Castle Combe marshals were watching - many circuits have lazy and careless marshals who wouldn't look and let accidents happen.

Camber and Combustion hahaha it make me smile how you shift so casually but so fast, I live in New Zealand so European cars are kind of rear, my friend has a 306 s16 so the one just before yours and I have a mk4 polo gti big deference in gearboxes with his being very light and mine being very mechanical keep sending those cars hard and stay safe

Great driving! Came via pistonheads from the gti-6 Nurburgring video. One question though, how comparable are both cars in performance?
Very closely matched, on a dry track the Clio was slightly quicker over a lap but not by much
Race control be like "Yeah these two are too good, let's take them out before they get even better so we retain the competitiveness of the field."
Do wipers on the side windows come as standard on Renaults? 😂
