PS: Been told by a viewer that the reason there’s 3 sets of discs is that 4 players games are usually team affairs that use 6 discs for each player. Not sure how this works out but make of it what you will.

Heh, when I moved in with the mrs she tried to do a nice thing and mount my Woodestic Premium Crokinole board on the wall. She bought an expensive mounting kit but for a different brand that was slightly thicker... So she drilled right through my board haha. I wasn't incredibly pleased.

Haha, your review had me in stitches. Sorry bout the anxiety mate, gonna have to get over that and just play on it. Trust me, our kids play with us all the time and a Crokinole board is far more durable than just about any other gameboard out there, its just wood after all. If you get scratches on the surface, you can fix it up pretty quick. Also, you don't need 4 sets of disc to play 4-player. The most popular format with four players is to play doubles, two teams of two players, each player has six discs and share the color with their team-mate who sits across from them. Can't argue on the price though. Its high, but worth it!

Man, usually boards come with 12discs of one color and 12of another. In 2 you play with 8, in 4 with 6. Best game on earth. Great video as usual! ❤

No idea mate. I assumed a 4 player game used 4 sets of discs. Why have the 3rd colour?

Four player games are usually two teams of two ppl so you only need two colours to play a four player game. I think playing with four different colours with no teams wouldn't be as fun as doubles. Great video, love the humor.

Just wondering why there’s 3 sets of discs then. Usually there’s black and white and not just white. I’ve played 4 player singles regularly so I find it a bit odd.

Greetings from Belgium and thanks for naming some of our fine beer! Over here most of the people drink Jupiler as a regular beer, if we want something heavier we often drink Duvel, Leffe, Orval, Gulden Draak, Tripel Karmeliet or the world best beer that was found in Michael Jacksons home: Westvleteren. A lot of our beers like Westvleteren are still brewed by monks in their abbeys.
Also, Crokinole is a fine game 🙂

Have been on a morphine drip, post leg surgery, and it's great. Only slightly better than Crokinole. We inherited our Crokinole board from Canadian in laws. It's a keeper.

In the US, close to Canada, you can get a good board for $300 (give or take $50) ... not including shipping (they are _heavy_ cuz, you know, real wood), And, if you want to spend a little more ($50-$100), you can get some _deluxe_ fancy boards that are _truly_ works of art. But, for quality and fun, it is a worthwhile purchase.

Six hundred…blimey! I have a German board that I paid €150 for and it has done me proud.
At this stage of my life the promise of a lifetime’s pleasure has less actuarial value than it used to but I will admit the Woodestic board looks a beauty and if I were a millionaire, perhaps.
You any views on comparing Crokinole, Carrom, Carooka?

And, as mentioned, if you do get a good (genuine) crokinole board, they are beautiful. It is something that, for more than just reasons of safe storage and space conservation, you would actually want to hang on your wall.

  • @kennethfharkin

That price is crazy. I have heard nothing but good things about Woodestic boards but the prices are INSANE. In the US and Canada you can get a Tracey board for less than HALF the euro 660 you stated for the Woodestic. The Tracey board is the acknowledged gold standard in the USA and Canada. It is used for the annual world championships and I can tell you from experience that it is phenomenal.
I also have a WoodenYouKnow custom board with a watch movement image on it that was approx USD 330, deliverred. It is also an excellent board and about 90% as fast as the Tracey. My friend has a Muzzies which is excellent and we got our start on a Mayday. The Mayday was a nice introduction but is far below any of the quality boards I have mentioned. Basically I have some experience with a variety of boards. I know it may not be as available in the UK as in the USA and Canada but there has to be a better option than 660 Euros. That is simply INSANE. I know there are makers in Germany and eastern Europe making boards, you should not have to pay the ridiculous price mentioned.
For storage the best bet is to hang it. Either make a wood frame to attach to the wall and sit the board in it or look at something like the Tracey mounting system. My Tracey mount goes right to a stud in the wall and is rock solid. My WoodenYouKnow uses a pair of moly screws in the wall and a pair of keyways built into the back of the board. For a frame on the wall just google it, you should be able to find some that people have made and duplicate it.

"the hook was left hanging in the mid air...", had me laughing for quite a while! I got a "cheap" board through a Mayday kickstarter for around 100 usd. THAT one is hanging on the wall.

Lol 4 players are teams of 2. On opposite side of the board. It's not great 4 players cause nobody can hide anywhere. It's truly a 2 player game. However, you can play with 3 players if the correct marks are on the board. You each will control 1/3 of the board. (But again, the marks need to be there for 3 players). On my board, i have 3 circles to show the boundaries for 3 player play, however, i dont see the marks on your board, unless if they are in the gutter. You'll never need a 4th color. Cause 4 player games are always teams of 2. Enjoy your crokinole!! I bought mine for $650. Great investment. wedding gift :)

@@BoardGameBollockson your comment on why can't you play 4 against all?.... I have red, blue, black, white and wood grain as my colors. (I ordered extra colors). So as a house rule, you can absolutely play 1 against all in 4 player. I've not tried it , but no reason you can't do it lol I think you just need that 4th color : ) crokinole canada is who I ordered my discs from. (My board came with 3 colors and I ordered 2 extras)

Tracy boards are the best boards you can buy. It's why they're the ones used in all the major tournaments. They're a bit less expensive than this board ($450 canadian). This board looks nice other than the bumpers.
