What did we miss that someone really NEEDS to know to get started playing the greatest game on earth?
Yes I have watched your “how to play” vids and yes they do give you a good background to how the game is played. Possibly just as important has been watching vids of actual games taking place. Learning by example works better for many people including me. Maybe a good way to teach would be you commentating over the top of people playing discussing their possible thoughts on each shot as it happens? On our first Crokinole night I found lots of players missing a large portion of the strategy of the game. On shooting for their opponent’s disc knocking it into the ditch was the only thing on their minds and their own disc also ending up in the ditch was the usual outcome. I explained to everyone that they needed to be thinking about their own disc too. Yes knocking the opponent into the ditch is good but scoring as well as possible with your own after doing so is the aim. I wish I’d recorded the evening (I will be on future get togethers) as the levels of concentration and enjoyment changed when the penny dropped with everyone from that exact moment. Far easier to show that commentating over a game. Just a thought!
I just purchased my first beginner board. Waiting for that to come in. Can't wait to play. Down the road I'll buy one of those real nice tournament boards. Just wasn't in my budget at this moment. 😢

2024: The year I get into Crokinole
Same! Saving up to buy my own board.
Since I started playing I've turned a few people on to crokinole. I live in the finger lakes/ southern tier region of New York State I know you guys have a tournament in turtle Island but it's not as common in my part of the state. I'm trying to make it so at least with my people and hope for the Domino effect. I've even taken the liberty of uploading clips to my social media outlets to attempt to introduce it to people in places where it's not so common. Like you I feel this game should be regarded as the national treasure it deserves to be recognized as
are you anywhere near Voorheesville which is close to Albany? There is a fantastic crokinole club there and they even have a tournament called the US Open which is one of my absolute favorite tournaments every year.
@@TraceyBoards according to Google I'm about 3rs and some change away from voorheesville .. to give a general idea of where I am using land familiar to you about 4hrs give or take south of Buffalo/ Niagara falls hour and a half 2 hrs south of Rochester depending on how fast you drive im kind of between Tavistock and voorheesville if you were to the long way around
@@TraceyBoards just out of curiosity, you may not know but if you do how does one get in touch with the nca about possibly starting an official sanctioned club? I see there's one in the city of Binghamton which is closest to me but still a bit of a trek.. I'm still a ways off from this i need people and a venue but I would eventually like to maybe start one in my local area

If you have a button on the board and your opponent does not, if you make contact with your own button and fail to reach the center, are both buttons invalid? Or just the button that was shot and failed to reach the center?
Good question! It depends: 1) did you make contact with your other disc? If not, then that disc stays on. If you did contact your other disc, then 2) did either disc make it to the valid shot region? If either one made it, BOTH stay on, if neither made it, BOTH come off.
