Very professional, Loved it.
You could also point out that if you just need some low amp power at the rear of the truck you could build an adaptor plug to access the auxiliary power and ground terminals in your pickup trailer plug.
Very nice, but why does almost every video have the most irritating back ground music.
That’s a nice clean build. 👍🏾
Love it
I was starting a project just like this one, when I ran across your video, it helped me from making some rookie mistakes. I do not need 3 12v accessories and was considering replacing one of the 12v connectors with an Anderson connector, this way I could feed solar back into my mpt charge controller to recharge my battery. I plan, to install a Lithium Ion battery. This would require a separate run, I think its safer to keep my bed accessories separate from the rest of the truck. I am also going to install a 700 watt inverter behind the rear seat, but will wire it for 1000 or 2000 depending on costs. So the plan would be charge the secondary battery while its being used for the fridge and accessories, during the day, live off the battery at night, then rinse and repeat.
What an awesome tutorial. Thank you for putting this together! 🙏
Awesome video. I’m looking to do this very thing for an inflator for a stand up paddle board.
How do you prevent the battery from being killed should you leave the switch on in the bed?
Great tutorial
Hi, could you do a similar set up but incorporating a second battery? I have been looking to doing this to my truck but I would like a dual battery set up. I also do not know what parts are available in the US as all the videos I find are from Australia.
So doing this, will it be able to run a 1.5 hp 120v air compressor for a fairly long time? I would love to do this but I just want to make sure it will run good
Is there a risk if the buss bar gets wet? I have seen on some RV forums that it isn’t recommended however your install method looks great with the ability to connect higher amperage at the buss.
I would love a link to the connector added for the compressor.
what is the wire size gauge you are using to connect the outlets within the panel?
What is the tool called that you crimped the copper connector on the wire? The one you hit with a hammer...
Careful with what power cable you pick and make sure you DO NOT USE CCA wire. That’s copper clad aluminum and is just copper coated not actual copper. Make sure to USE OFC COPPER WIRE that’s oxygen free copper that will be pure copper wire and is a better conductor.
looks like a wiring kit for speakers...at least that's what mine looked like 30yrs ago. cheap CCA garbage
after install what kind of sag do you encounter at the power point in the bed vs at the battery itself?, i'm thinking about doing something similar in my F150 and need to figure out what size wire i need to use for my actual install to the bus bars in the bed itself
Professional electrician here. In order to future proof your build I would personally (And I did in my truck) Run 4AWG Oxygen Free Copper wire to the Bus Bar. Then I would use 10AWG to/from the 12V plug. Just get a spade connector kit and you'll be Gucci. 1/2" loom will work for the single 4AWG and the 2 10AWG as well!
@@TRalstoon would this be able to run a normal compressor? Or do I have to buy a special 12v compressor
So this is suggesting to run a 12v fridge off the starter battery? What happens when you park and stop driving but still want cold drinks? Wouldn’t it be better to run a second battery with a DC-DC charger to power all the 12v accessories?
My dometic fridge has a safety shutdown and notification if the voltage gets to low. I think this would be good for the commute to and from wherever you going but not long term.
You could let the truck idle. You get about 5 hours of run time per gallon of fuel
Deep cycle battery. We used an Optima Yellowtop for our main battery in our Jeep Wrangler for 3.5 years and never had a single issue running the 12V fridge overnight for tons of camping trips.
On what truck?? @@paulcovert5781
Run the fridge off a mobile Solar panel.
How many watts is that? I need something like 110 watt plug
That's pretty standard wattage, like a cigarette lighter plug. You can just buy an adapter that plugs into your trailer hitch plug
nice, I also got a 2022 tundra... can you list the parts list you used?
Parts list includes
2 Pin Trolling Motor Plug Receptacle
8AWG-5/16" Battery Lugs
3 Socket Cigarette Lighter Adapter 12V Power Outlet + ON-Off Toggle Switch Multi-Functions Panel
8 Gauge Wire
Wire Loom - 3/8 Inch
12V Power Distribution Block 5 x 5/16" (M8)
Really should have a low voltage disconnect in there
Do you guys install this?
Parts list please

Good video but no link to parts and couldn’t find them on the website. Sad effort

Seems silly.. There should be a way to tap into the 12v already at the back and already fused. Like the trailer hitch. If you want high power like a compressor, it would be better to install the compressor next to the battery. So much wasted truck bed space.
Wow, so easy when you have a truck bed made of....plastic.
I am planning on making a power tool box with a small air compressor a small water pump a small ice chest and a 3,000 watt power inverter with two 12 volt batteries inside and with 3 small solar panels on top the tool box to charge the batteries, so help me god😊
