What a treasured memory! Appreciated the man who jumped in front of you before Bo rolled his last ball. Nelson Burton Jr is a remarkable guy and is still getting it done despite being near 80!
When I much was much younger, I would bowl in my junior league and then come and watch bowling on Saturday afternoon. Bo and Chris will always be my favorite commentaries. Sure miss those days.
I started watching the PBA in 1979 after Mr. Burton had basically retired and had become the pro announcer paired with the great Mr. Schenkel. Mr. Burton would still try to qualify and if he made the finals would get a substitute pro to perform his announcer duties. When he made the show Mr. Burton would typically get beat, but one show he went wild and scored in the upper 200s, blowing away the four pro competitors. Today we score like that, but back then with old technology balls and wood lanes it had never happened. It really increased his bowling and announcing cred. Mr. Burton would use the same bowling phrases over and over again and present the scoring facts with a serious whispered approach in a professional style. Since Mr. Burton is both a very good bowler and announcer, it doesn't surprise me he got a 300 at age 80. I got back to back 279s last week and I'm 66.
Bo and Chris are forever THE voice of bowling

Still has that smooth, simple delivery and still playing the track, as constant as a Swiss watch. We love to see it.
