Flying the British Airways Airbus A380: London to Boston in Economy Class

- Here's my trip report from my flight from London to Boston with British Airways in World Traveller / economy class, onboard the Airbus A380 onboard flight BA213 from London to Boston. This is one of BA's shorter A380 routes, allowing us to sample BA's wonderful service and aircraft on a sub-6 hour flight.

The control column is right next to the modulator chain actuator switch on the Boeing A380 😂
The weird thing is, don't really know how many of you have seen inside the typical Boeing cockpit and the typical Airbus cockpit the instrument panels are actually in different colours.
Boeing is this horrible looking Taupe colour like something out of the 1960s or 70s.
Airbus is a greyish blue more modern and just generally tidier looking.
Maybe the pilot was colourblind.

Great video, really enjoyed it. Did this trip a couple of years ago with BA on an ancient 747 badly in need of renovation. I'll never get over how quiet the A380 is on take off. Unbelievable.
Also unbelievable how many people comment on the 'Boeing A380' slip of the tongue without first checking that almost everyone has already done it. Jeez.
The A380 is incredible. Such a shame that it’s being phased out :(

Hello there, just to clarify things, I am a pilot on the British Airways A350 fleet and I can inform you that the cabin crew service manager would have been the person delivering that speech. At this moment in time, us pilots would be concentration on communicating with air traffic control. Additionally we would have been monitoring the engine start. The pilots usually give their speech prior to the aircraft being pushed back. I hope this clarifies things as I’m pretty sure the pilot knows what he is flying. Have a great day 👍

Said to the wife earlier i really wanted a shot on an a380. Saw BA go to Boston so i thought id look into it. Said to her i wonder if Noel Phillips has done that route....and here it is 😂 what a man, what a travel vlogger.
I'm glad you showed the US Declaration form. I work at LAS and was contracted to BA. Somehow, Americans coming in always assumed they didn't need to fill that out. Then get mad at us reps because they were kicked out of immigration line to go fill it out. It was every day. They were being told by other people. Some of the flight attendants didn't know, so they told the Americans they didn't have to fill it out. Us ground staff always got the shaft.
I heard a rumor that LHR is supposed to get US Customs over there so you don't have to do it when you get to the states. Hope so.
I don't like the music it just aggravates to the stress of being on the aircraft.

They operate on other aircraft types, up to 3 variations, so it was a freudian slip. Remember many fly all the time and have done for many years, living out of a suitcase, so it's an honest mistake. Although they are given time to rest well, they are only human. This is a slight mistake on the pa, not on safety

Hi ive noticed on the A380s on the begining of the take offs you dont hear the massive engins rev-up its so quite. I love going to Heathrow too.. I think you will find the longest esculators are at Angle on the Northen Line.

Concerning the IFE - Is there still a USB port under the screen? Can one use personal headphones (with the single pin audio plug) or are you stuck with whatever they provide you? (The seemingly normal headphones with the wierd three-pin plug? I've seen that be a thing on some planes.)
Going on BA to Pittsburg next year so I understand there'll probably be some differences by then.

Great video. Were you using your new GoPro Hero 7 in the terminal at the beginning? It didn't seem to have the stability that is expected with the Hero 7. I got one myself last week and was amazed how stable it was when walking.

I flew the British Airways A 380 last September from Chicago to London and I liked it. One of my 2 favorite planes (the Dreamliner is my favorite for a long flight)
The service was top notch. My wife ended up having to tend to someone who became ill on the flight.

Why are many of your older videos downgraded to 360p?
CZcams are having technical issues with the longer videos (2 hours +) and they're downgraded to 360p. They're all in full HD on our website however.
@@noelphilips I have 3 videos over 2 hours long (including an unlisted one over 4 hours) and it's still in full HD and were not downgraded to 360p. Definitely a strange problem on CZcams.

Does the lower deck window seats not have the bins under the window or is that just the upper deck? Want a window seat on my flight to Singapore last this month but don’t want a bin window seat.
Only the upper deck has the window bins on the A380.

I flew this but other way round and got front row window seat in the top row of premium economy. Was mental.

I dread the windows on the A380, with the larger inner window and a small window to the outside which you can't get your face or camera close to.

I find it a little weird how they fly Boeing 777s to Denver but the a380s to the east coast? Idk that may just be me thinking but they could make more by flying an a380 to Denver.

Noel, I was interested in seeing your film of the LHR-BOS A380 trip. It was interesting but you have to rethink that awful music you had playing at the end. In the end I had to completely turn off the sound it was that bad.

Luke Rogers definitely unnecessary I understand it’s a very busy airport but there is certainly no need for the length of the walk I’ve been a few times and they always seem to be working on it I’m convinced the extend the walk every year

I had a Passat GT. Don't have it any more now that I'm full time - I just take the train. It was a fantastic car, I miss it a lot 😢
The flight seemed uneventful - which is a good thing. The food looked good, and you had decent IFE. The legroom appeared to be somewhat... cozy.

I flew long haul with BA recently to Bridgetown. They were rubbish. They ran out of everything pretty much 4 hrs in to a 9hr flight,

In economy the A380 is no more comfortable than say a 777 the seat is the same the space is the same so how is it so comfortable.
