I am a very modest private pilot from Italy who's been living in Switzerland since 2014 and learned to fly here, over the Swiss Alps. I absolutely share the same wonder and awe every time I take off and fly over this beautiful Country. Apart from the fact that even with a small SEP you reeeeaaaally have to learn to fly through mountains and valleys, it's the joy of performing a flight like the one you did that is really worth the effort. I share the commotion you experience every single time I'm up as well.

I am Swiss PPL Pilot and I have also experienced Gstaad Airport as PIC. The circuit is exiting and requires your full attention because you are very low and you see the runway (and if your altitude is correct) only a few second before you land.

I lived there for a few years Steveo....I can tell you that there is not one peak that has not been climbed!!! Multiple times. By high school kids!! Climbing and hiking are a national past time for ALL SWISS! That was an INSANE FLIGHT!!! LOVED IT. THANKS

I like to add, that the warm friendliness of Moritz ist typical for Swiss people. Never loud or showing inappropriate behaviour. Always team players.

I had never flown before, but even at 56 years old, I liked the trip and put it on my bucket list. It also made me want to learn how to fly. Once again, congratulations to the captain for a beautiful flight that brightened my day!

I do get the same thing though living where I do - Southwest Colorado in the mountains near Pagosa Springs. One of the nicest areas I've ever lived, but it just becomes normal and have to be reminded I'm pretty lucky to live where I do.

Every time I flew over Swiss Alps I always looked down and wish I could just disengage the autopilot and do what you just did. Unfortunately I would definitely lost my job and go straight to jail after landing.

You are finally in my backyard…I flew all over the western Swiss Alps out of Ecuvillens, down through Lake Geneva and over the Eiger, Moncj and Jungfrau mountains…those narrow passes are just insane….
This must really be a special treat for a flatlander. Rare clear weather, calm air, an experienced test pilot on your side. Pilatus aircraft are among the best.

Never flew Switzerland, but we crossed it by car via the backroads on our way to Italy. Breathtaking scenery, gorgeous blue lakes, clean fresh air, and great mountain driving. The experience will forever stay with me.

Wow the whole area looks amazing. I also noticed that the land was not congested with power poles and electrical wires going everywhere! Looks so clean there like everyone takes pride in cleanliness.
Having been to Switzerland about 25 times, there is no better place. Flying in the country is premium. 🇨🇭🇨🇭🇨🇭 Beautiful left base turn over the village of Gstaad. Wonderful village to visit.
Despite my age of 56, I had never flown before, but I enjoyed the experience and added it to my bucket list. It also inspired me to pursue a career in aviation. Once more, thank you to the captain for a lovely flight that made my day!
What a beautiful country! But that pass through the saddle in those mountain peaks had me puckering. The terrain warning made it all that much more exhilarating.

Awesome video I had to watch it over and over just spectacular. That Pilot was cool as a cucumber. Growing up I always wanted to live in Switzerland, maybe in my next life. It looks like a giant HO scale model, everything in just the right place and picture perfect. That approach was hair raising, He buzzed those rooftops, looked like you could reach out and grab someone's morning coffee. AMAZING!!!! Top notch pilot. One of the most beautiful places on earth. You can tell a lot of the people from this area settled in Minnesota cause the landscape is manicured just like it is here. Congratulations on your fiancé may you both have a long and happy life together.

Two years ago I drove past the Pilatus factory (Pilatus is named after the mountain nearby) on a trip to and from Italy, fantastic there. I live in the flattest country in Europe where a large area is below sea level: the Netherlands. Congratulations Steveo and Julia, I wish you all the best!❤️❤️

I'll bet that the PIC was a former, long time Swiss Air Force pilot considering (observing) his 'professional' approach into the 'Saanen Airport', one of many former Swiss Air Force bases.

Not only is Switzerland a great place to fly, it also has some of the best driving roads in Europe, the scenery is amazing through those mountain passes.
We drove around 10 days and didn’t hit one bump in any road. Amazing!
But a lot of Traffic jam😅

Fantastic flight, thanks for the video ! That is probably the perfect place for a military airfield, good sheltering terrain, large enough for sustained operations but doesn't stick out like a sore thumb. From altitude you gotta know where to look, on landing you must float like a butterfly ! BEAUTIFUL

Lol my ADHD has me always paying attention to the wrong things and I noticed the pilot flying's hands not on the speed brake/spoilers handle while they were deployed, then remembered a recent Mentour PIlot video about that, lol! Then I remembered this is not a commercial flight, and... It's the friggin' Alps! Gotta take it easy and take it all in! Such gorgeous footage. And, yes! The aircraft seemed to noticeably put on display her exceptionally stable handling characteristics during that flight! Video stableization?? jk

Glad you liked it! I am from Bern (Saanen is in the Bernese Mountains), been to Gstaad and Saanen 200 times or more - and it IS marvellous, even if you've been there a lot. You should go there skiing one day!

In 2006 I was living in North Africa where I worked in the oil and gas business. To get back to civilization, I would go to Geneva for long weekends and a little R&R. I went on a ski trip to Gstaad in 2008, and I loved it so much I bought a house on the first mountain you fly over when you are on a 08 departure. Beautiful place!

Es hat mich gefreut, wie respektvoll der Pilot dem netten amerikanischen Copiloten bei seinem pilotieren dieses wunderschönen Flugzeuges, seine Hand auf den Arm legte. Wunderschöne Flugaufnahmen über die Schneeberge der Schweiz. Das Beste sass hinten im Flugzeug und bemerkte zu recht, dass fliegen (risk) eine gefährliche Sache ist. Danke Misses Julia!!!

I have really enjoyed watching this great flying over the mountains. All the colors and contrast on mountains reminded me of Bob Ross's painting knives and his famous fan brush 😂
It's that moment when you talk to a Swiss national and they apologise for only speaking 7 languages and yours isn't one of them. I've flown over the Alps a few times and seeing skiers on the pistes and the chair lifts is just mindblowing. They are just below you, enjoying the powder and mountain restaurants.....it is a wonderful experience. The Alps is a stunning place.....one of the very best places on our planet.....the mix of cultures, the music, the food, the people........
