      Yes but the point is that you can do it without having to change your citizenship, and therefore are not put through the vicissitudes of border control that non-EU countries are subject to.
      Simply put, he's qualified to live in Spain because the EU controls the terms of Spanish borders for a more balanced system, yet he's complaining about border sovereignty.

    • @FreekinEkin2
      @FreekinEkin2 Před 7 lety +77

      I wouldn't call it a red herring. My point was about EU border control, not non-EU border control. He's living in Spain thanks to the EU (even if it were possible outside the EU). Let's say he does get to live in Spain, fine, but if someone totally non-assimilated is allowed to stay in Spain, what are we really worried about maintaining border sovereignty for?

Many thousands of English nationals are now living in Spain and other EU countries but there is very little love for the brits because in the eyes of many European citizens, British people and in particular the English, are arrogant, conceited and having a fastidious sense of moral and racial superiority, most of the time unwilling to mix with the local population, learning the native tongue or participating in local activities, living in their cocoon and comfortive well-off ghettoes in the outskirts of sunny seaside resorts and enjoying first class free medical care.

      That's what expats means mate, it's a word like immigrant, and it has a definition. They are expats, emigrants and immigrants depending on perspective.
      People who try to start this immigrant/expat debate prove themselves ridiculous from the off.

    Six years later and lots of British Yo-yo’s have sold up and left because they can’t stay here twelve months without registering for tax purposes. Lots of British focused businesses are either struggling or have closed. The British ghetto is collapsing!
    Voting for Brexit, but wouldn’t go back to the UK. A first rate Numpty!

    ’I voted for Brexit because it’s right for the country’ says the man whose only tie with England is a passport. A mixture of ethnocentrism, colonialism and, surely, oxymoronic fair play…
