Jetpack restrictor was one of the biggest surprises to me. At first you think it's gonna be just annoying but it gives you a huge new section in the game and gives so much stuff in the game more purpose.
Definitely one of the best things to add.
I think the first person i saw use that one was splitsie, it is more interesting when you have to engineer around not being able to just jetpack
makes use of ladders, stairs, have to create new contraptions to reach areas / scaffolding...should be off tbh
You'll get really good at running jumps in space, only using your jetpack to choose correct with dampeners off. When doing EVA work, you'll really more on your mag boots. I like the limiting dynamic.
At first i was like „huh?! Why would you restrict that??” And then i remembered how i flew orbits around the moon looking for bases to loot without any losses as i can just respawn to Regain hydrogen
one mod I really find nice for quality of life is the Increased Ore Detector Range, as the default ore detector in space can be very weak as a lot of asteroids can have ore inside them but because they are so large the default detector will never pick them up
Nanobot Drill/Fill and Nanobot Build/Repair is nice too, a bit diverging from Vanilla but after you've made so many manual printers it's nice to just be able to project something and let the build/repair system print it out for you, much friendlier on performance as it's a static block and no pistons/rotors needed, the drills just make it nice to be able to only mine the ore and leave the terrain behind
I personally love both of them and dont play without them anymore, and I also in place of the BAR's or complimentary to them the AiEnabled as they help alot with building and grinding. Just heads up warning though I've gotten attacked repeatedly over saying I using either of the Nanobot system's. Like you I've personally build so damn many printer systems over the ears of playing but sometimes I get tired of dealing with all the issues that come with them. One thing I will have to say in favor of the printers over the Nanobots though is the printers are MUCH faster so those that call the Nanobot OP are full of crap.
@@MrBlackdragon1230 yeah printers are definitely faster, but nanobot systems seem more friendly on performance as you aren't reciting the rituals to summon Klang
the build and repair system is rather powerful, i used to build an entire ship made of those and cargo containers because i could just float up to a hostile or neutral grid and render them a floating hunk of metal in seconds. Now i use them with some rules so that i dont end up with ships that dont need any weapons to take down targets.
Just to note: Colorful icons is also a plugin. Would really love to see you go over some of those as almost every plugin is either a QOL or has been mod for some time.
I've been playing SpEngy for years and I never heard of a battery degradation mod. Genius!
One reason I don't tend to use hydrogen engines is because the fuel in the engine is included in your hydrogen fuel meter. Keen really needs to fix this already. It would help of somebody made a mod to fix this. I've seen it on videos, and had it happen to myself. I'm low on fuel, trying to land at my base and dock up, when I plummet to the ground. It looks like I should still have like 10% fuel at least. But it's in my hydrogen engines, and not available for my thrusters. If I have something with hydrogen thrusters, it is NOT going to have any hydrogen engines.
I would usually fill the engine tanks first then see where it sits then fill hydrogen tanks. But I super Agree they need a separation of the two in the hud
Do you mean hydrogen generator? I'm not sure hydrogen engine is really a thing, and your hydrogen generator is an emergency system, you can consider turning it off when you don't need it, or turning off use conveyor system, or using a conveyor sorter to try and prevent hydrogen passage
@@tourstarproductions2150 It's a hydrogen engine. It's really a thing. Hydrogen generator is not. There is an O2/H2 generator, that converts ice into hydrogen and oxygen. There is no hydrogen generator. The hydrogen engine produces power from hydrogen. It isn't a backup system. It's just like a reactor, though it uses hydrogen as fuel, rather than uranium. And the entire point was that the hydrogen engine fouls up the hydrogen fuel bar, as it counts the internal storage of the engine as part of the hydrogen fuel supply, though the hydrogen can not be drawn from the engine to feed thrusters.
I've learned this lesson the hard way for sure. I need to redesign my main fighter overall tho. It's clunky tbh. My first good build, but also pretty dated. I don't need two large thrusters... Overkill as fuck..
oh ive been waiting for you to post a video on this :) ty
Would thoroughly recommend 'Radio Spectrometry' by DraygoKorvan which saves you having to fly to the surface of every single asteroid to detect which ores are nearby, it still requires a bit of work but gets the balance right of not beaing an easy cheat.
Good video as alwayz
Nice
Nice video
quite interested in the red ion/atmo ship, is it avail on the workshop?
Hi I subscribed to modular encounter but can't find it to use in survival mode only
I feel like battery degradation will just make people even more dependant on hydrogen, which is already easy too convenient compared to the alternatives
Hydrogen feels like a big pain to me, the fuel is much more of a limitation.
I'm not sure why there hasn't been a UI update that adds colored icons. A better UI would go a long way towards making the game more appealing to new players.
The painting system needs some work too
Modular Encounters seams a lot like Assertive Combat Systems, a mod I've seen on Splitsie's Assertive Acquisitions series.
And also with the Battery Degradation, it'd be cool if all functional blocks could degrade, but that would just be annoying for no reason and would only be used if someone was trying to make realistic space flight. In which case it could probably be complimented by a mod that significantly nerfs thrusters, so the player would have to build semi-realistic rockets to get stuff into space instead of just a regular ship, which combined with degradation, would simulate things such as rated burn times (how long a thruster can burn before it breaks down from the heat and pressure). But this all would probably require different kinds of thrusters, like solid rocket boosters, which are extremely powerful (by nerfed thruster standards), but can't be refuelled, making them great for getting things into space, but not so much for delicate micro burns (such as adjustments to stabilise an orbit, but that would probably need a mod to remove the speed limit, so a craft can actually reach orbital velocity in lower orbits and orbits could actually be done with the speed and altitude settings in the AI flight block). And would also need different tiers of parts, so the player can make better crafts as they get more resources.
Assert is Splitsie's addon for modular encounters. It uses ME as a base to add the Assert stuff in.
Assert is an addon (one of the better ones) for MES which is the thing that everyone uses to spawn enemies
Always give me a dark sky box too 😃
Try *True Dark* or *Space Just Got Real*
what is that ship on the begining of the video?
Question, can you add mods on an existing world without breaking the game?
My lord Luna what are the key binds for the pant gun?
Because I have no idea 😅
Shift + r for replace, and hold shift and scroll for skins, shift + right click to pick a colour, there's more but that's about all I know 🤣
@@LunarKolony That's more then enough My Lord thank you! 😆
another lunar kolony banger
I also like to run the assalt wepons pack
Jetpack restrictor is one of my personal favourites because it instantaneously makes everyone build smarter bases and ships, i also turn on aerodynamic physics for a similar reason.
These are the 2 most hated mods on each of my servers.
nerf the gyroscopes and now that's gonna be the top hated mod in your server
@@AdrianOkay I've considered removing them entirely a couple times lol.
(obvioulsy that's incorporated with a plane parts mod or a rover only server tho)
dude u sound like the tesla guy
Who? 😂
@@LunarKolony there is a lad named jack massey welsh you should check him out your accents sound alike probably you two are from the same parts of England 😂
I Commend You.
MEC is a good example of a mod author giving up and resorting to a cheap mechanic to fix mediocre ship/station designs. Instead of doing the obvious thing and adding interior turrets to the rear of ships so people couldn't hydroman then with a grinder they decided to add inhibitor blocks that do things like disable the jetpack or kill sap your characters health.
99% of what's available on MEC is stuff that's made to look aesthetic and serve no real function which goes completely against the spirit of Space Engineers where the entire point of the game is to engineer working solutions.

1 Good mod and the rest sucked.
