I’ve seen this comment by multiple South Africans lol you safas don’t realise that constantly complaining about the refs is the reason your fans are the most hated in world rugby 🤷‍♂️ you talk about honesty when you guys have had some of the biggest brutes in world rugby who played grubby footy. Be humble in victory, you don’t see any abs fans talking about the 57-0 victory or your 16% winrate against them over the last 35 games. You played well today but learn to have some humility.

@@yE6sniping agree fully with what your saying. Quick question out of pure curiosity. Why do you choose to cap the stat you quoted at 35 games to get you to a 16% win rate? Seems quite random to me… in that case I can say that the Boks have had a 100% win rate over the last one game…or 60% over the last 5 games. Just an observation, but otherwise agree with the rest of your post :-)

Mate, I can tell you made this video with the emotion of the loss still very fresh. I’m a Bok supporter, but my feeling is (1) AB’s didn’t lose because of 14 men, they were outmuscled, and (2) the sky isn’t falling - don’t start second guessing all coaching and selection decisions…AB’s will learn from this and are still 100% in contention to go all the way.

Don’t despair, coaches are still experimenting with combinations. There are a couple of positives to take away, the ABs defense in the first 20 minutes was sublime, their ability to absorb wave after wave of attack is impressive. You’ve got a little gem in Cam, he lit the game up from the very first minute on the field. He’ll go on to keep defenses busy for many years to come.
As a Bok fan, I’ll admit that we left more than ten points on the park. Handling needs to improve, better sides will punish mistakes in RWC. Under the leadership of Siya Kolisi, the self belief is palpable and very good to see.
Personally, I believe the ABs will bounce back, France will be on the receiving end of a brutal approach we’ve come to know from the ABs.

The build-up to this game vs the results are so interesting. I didnt see a single CZcamsr give the boks a chance. Most discribed the forward packs as on a par and the backline of the all blacks being far superior. I think most were saying all blacks win by 15. So interesting considering the boks have the most successful record against the ABs. I also find the New Zealand punditry a bit disingenuous, blaming a poor All Black performance more than anything for the scoreline. The ABs were certainly not at their best but they were forced into the errors they made by a far superior side on the day. The penalties were a product of imense pressure and skill on the side of the Boks. I would not write the ABs off after this. They defended incredibly well, with 13 men. There are positives here. They have the talent and the pedigree to smash the french and the Irish. And I will back them to win the World Cup opener. With hopefully a ton of luck, this will be the 2 world cup final teams.

The AB's were bullied, plain and simple. They need to beef up their back ASAP but that may be to late, given their squad selection You can have a smaller back-row, but only if you can move the bigger SA players around ie Mount Smart, but teams like SA and France will take that and build, SA dominated the set piece, and problems were evident well before Barrett was sent off, the AB's could not get in the SA 22. SA's press defence gave the All Black back-line no room to breathe, France will do the same. SA knew this was the way to play otherwise why stack the replacement bench with so many forwards.

It remained a yellow card (not sure that was the correct call but that's another discussion) becoming a red for it being his second yellow, so it doesn't mean he will automatically miss the France game. The IRB really does need to have a mass overhaul of the draw process. 3 years in advance is way, way too early when so much can change with regards to a team's fortunes in that time (look at the likes of England and Wales for example)

From its use by Thomas Ellison on the Native tour of 1888-89, the 2-3-2 scrum was New Zealand’s preferred style of scrum. With only seven forwards in the scrum, the eighth forward, the ‘rover’ or wing forward, was free to put the ball into the scrum and to harass the opposing halves. The use of the wing forward was hotly criticised on the 1905-6 and 1924-25 All Black tours of the home countries (Britain). New Zealand continued to use the formation until the 1928 tour of South Africa, when in the first test the All Blacks found that their seven men simply could not compete with the eight Springboks in scrums. For the rest of the tour the All Blacks practised the 3-4-1 scrum. However, they reverted to the old formation on returning to New Zealand, and the British Lions who toured in 1930 were very critical of the practice. The upshot was that in 1931 the International Rugby Board stated that a ball had to pass three feet of the front row of each team before it could be hooked. Since under a 2-3-2 scrum both props could normally hook the ball, this made the old formation impracticable. Source: Te- Ara, The Encyclopedia of NZ.

The ABs played the worst I have seen in some years and frankly shocking handling and decision making at times. No flow, no concerted patient buildup on attack, so many handling mistakes and missed tackles, poor lineouts. All these can be fixed and I simply can’t see us play this badly again, and at least for the WC this shows where we need to improve. Also we certainly didn’t show our hand early with any fancy back line moves like at the last WC. Lomaxs injury along with potential Barret to miss the opener is another concern though. Seem short on line out options without him.

There we were blitzed early but showed enough to indicate we have it in us to win even if the ABs got a late try again. NZ also got a lot of love from Brace (who has no idea what is happening at the scrum) while on the weekend they were missing Frizzell (MotM last time), Retallick and then S Barrett and Lomax. That and small margins all going our way.
Both games were a bit at the extremes is what I am saying. All things equal I think the 2 point margins we've been seeing before this year's results in this particular match-up is closer to the mark and closer to what I would expect if we meet again this year.
