In the 1994, I worked at Disney World and was taking a lunch break in the cafeteria when President Carter walked in with his wife. Apparently she needed to use the restroom. While this was going I realized nobody notice the former President. He just stood there patiently waiting for his wife. He was trying to make eye contact with the cast members as they walked by. But most were looking down at the ground as they passed him. I was sitting about 10 yards from him. I’ll never forget how he tried to connect with the people in the cafeteria that day.

When Carter was President I was a young lad in 7th grade. Oddly I was interested in politics and would read the paper every morning before I would go to school. I grew up in Orange County, CA. which is a conservative area in southern California. My parents were Republicans and everyone I knew was Republican. I grew up hearing people talk about how bad and weak Carter was and I held on to that opinion till roughly my early 20's when I started to think for myself. Eventually, I turned away from being a Republican and became much more liberal and I started to realize what a good man Carter was and my respect for him only grew over time. I was very proud of voting for Reagan in his second term for my first chance to vote but today I realize that Reagan had many flaws and many of his policies that I approved of then I would oppose today. I guess that it was growing up and growing wiser does to you.

My situation was very similar to yours in 1968 when I was 12-13, only I was reading about Nixon and his candidacy. I knew, in my gut, that he'd be bad for the US if he became President and next several years turned cemented my liberal tendencies. For that matter, I wasn't the only one. Jimmy Carter is the gold standard of how a former POTUS should be using their life to help others.

People could criticize Carter presidency, but people should agree that he is a good man. A man with no ambitions and willing to serve the people of the USA until his death.

My only beef was him reducing the highway speed to 55 mph, I can't drive 55.

    America is
    23 in education.
    37 in healthcare.
    34 in raising family index.
    No high-speed train.
    Highest number of homeless people.
    Highest number of incarcerated people.
78% of people live paycheck to paycheck.
Stock market is not economy of Americans! Where 90% of money belongs to top 10% of the population, it's wallet for the rich.
Let's talk like adults, instead of name calling.
I have left the proof on my playlist, if you would like to check!
Let's make our country better together.

He Dr Brezinski was one of the few people who always defended Palestinian rights and freedom. I wish we had more courageous people who speak out about Israeli apartheid. Read president Carter’s book on Israeli apartheid

Global peace can be achieved with honest, sensible, humanitarian people in power.
Jimmy Carter achieved what John Lennon wrote in his lyrics : give peace a chance.

After the Three mile Island nuclear power plant accident in 1978, President Carter assessed the situation personally, with his nuclear engineering expertise gained in the US Navy's nuclear propulsion program, (having qualified to serve as Executive Officer of a US Navy nuclear submarine,) President Carter calmed the frayed nerves of a nervous nation by taking Rosalyn's hand and strolling through the stricken plant.
A selfless act of courage based upon a scientific education and natural, sincere leadership.

“One of Jimmy Carter’s best qualities was he was delighted to put in office and positions of power people who were more capable in certain ways and smarter than he was.” Oh so he didn’t just put his unqualified kids & donors in charge of everything?!!

Jimmy Carter also worked hard for Democracy in Latin America which was plagued at the time by military dictatorships, most of them supported by the previous administration. I have heard personally from Argentinians that were saved by his administration.

Can't talk about Jimmy Carter without mentioning the Trilateral Commission. Established by David Rockefeller in 1973, the Trilateral Commission brought together leaders in finance, business and politics from the advanced industrial world comprising North America, Europe and Japan. The stated purpose of the Commission is "to develop practical proposals for joint action" on issues such as energy, relations with the third world, international finance and governability at home. Carter was a member since its inception; so was Walter Mondale, Carter's Vice-President. Zbigniew Brzezinski, Carter's National Security Advisor, was its Director, and Cyrus Vance, the Secretary of State, Harold Brown, the Secretary of Defence and W Michael Blumenthal, Secretary of Treasury were members.
