"Weird Al" Yankovic - Jackson Park Express (Live at Red Rocks)

- This performance of "Jackson Park Express" was recorded on Aug. 1, 2019 at the Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, CO as part of our Strings Attached tour. This footage was taken directly from the IMAG feed. The Red Rocks performance featured the 71-piece Colorado Symphony, conducted by Scott O'Neil, who also arranged about half of the orchestral charts for the tour. (This was Scott's only show with us - all the other shows were conducted by the amazing father & son tag team of Arnie Roth and Eric Roth). Of course, these shows also featured my long-time band members (Jim "Kimo" West on guitar, Steve Jay on bass, Ruben Valtierra on keyboards and Jon "Bermuda" Schwartz on drums). And we also were fortunate enough to work with the greatest singers in the world - Lisa Popeil, Monique Donnelly and Scottie Haskell.
I hope that you were able to come out and see a show. If so, I hope this video is a nice memento... and if not, well, this should give you a small idea of what you missed! Hope to see you next time! - Komedie
Good thing he said "not in a creepy way." That cleared it all up.
That eases my mind.
This is a perfect example of what Al and his band members do best! Whether it’s a song parody or an original composition: The juxtaposition of the seriousness of the music with the hilarious absurdity of the lyrics is what makes their musical comedy *PURE GOLD!*

Does this guy ever age lol what a legend.
nope, he doesn't. Al ages in single big steps every 25 years or so, when he changes his style completely. the next one will be him with short (weird) hair and a (weird) goatee :D
He's immortal. Here's proof of him posing for Davinci- "St. John the Baptist"
i.imgur.com/AHaEJB8.jpg
He still looks like Peter Brady, lol.
Clearly not. I'm still astounded that he appears eternal. He looks the same as when I saw him in concert in 1997.
@@brianm6337 Classic!!! Lol!!! I've never seen that before, thank you!!! 😉🙂🤣
Underrated song. It takes you on a journey, like Albuquerque, Everything You Know is Wrong, and Trapped in the Drive-Thru.
Don't forget "The Biggest Ball of Twine in Minnesota".
And it's the length of Genius in France.
I get the best looks cranking Albuquerque in the hospital parking. Where I work.
one of my favorite songs, man. so good
Forced to learn violin as a kid, years of playing Mozart, Beethoven etc for a cranky instructor, more years of spendy music college and boring theory classes, only to find yourself playing at a Weird Al concert. As someone who took this path with the piano, I couldn't imagine a better turn of events!
I unironically love this song. Seriously, that "don't you do this to me" makes me tear up.
I think this is easily one of the most underrated Weird Al songs, so this was a real pleasant surprise upload
I met him at Rose City Comic Con and I told him that this was my favorite song of his, so he said he would post it for me. True story.
@@christil7917 thank you, you are a noble soul
Beautiful.
I love how the song keeps getting progressively worse and horrifying until it finally embodies the TRUE feeling of public transportation.
Al is in my subscription feed? A surprise but a welcome one.
He uploads like once a year, so every time he does, it's a sweet surprise. :)
@@coredumperror except this is what like maybe the 2nd or 3rd video this year 😂
Then I made a blink THAT SAID Yes.
How is it you question that?
@@angelcake1992 I think it's like the fourth or fifth in just last few months! Lol! Maybe more... They're was a really short one that wasn't even a song, and Harvey the wonder hamster was posted the same day as this one. Many times, he'll post two videos in the same day... "Weird Al" isn't just his name, it's his MO! Lol! 🙂😂😉
This was amazing seeing live. There will never be another "Weird Al"
brainpalsey a lot of imitators but there’s only one
You said it!
And if there is another one, SJW'Ss will knock that person down a few notches.
His passion during the "protect them from the evils of the world" line gets me every time.
JPE has always been one of my favorites that I feel gets severely underrated. There are so many great throwaway lines and every time one of the crazy messages is followed up with an innocuous gesture I chuckle.
I'm certain she went home thinking that it could have been the romance of a lifetime, if she hadn't been too shy to speak up.🤣
Weird Al played this in Boston when it was 97 degrees out. He's a real hero!
Weird al I love your songs and parodies keep up the good work
Brendo I’m also a fan of Weird Al too.
As am I, which makes it all the more difficult to cope with the fact that Mandatory Fun was his last album in 2014.
Loved him since I was a little kid in the 80's 😄
i cant belive he's in his 60's now
1:40 That iconic random weird all high kick.
Whoo!
Used to be (for an insanely long time) his heel behind his head and jumping on one foot. The one and only sign of his aging AFAIK. The guy's amazing.
@@anyviolet and the grey hairs he’s clearly getting
I saw this live. Awesome song, awesome preformance.
Spencer Lee I was out in the seats a ways, but it was totally awesome
Saw it in Boston. It was awesome, but we were all sweating like hell including Al. lol
But all those freaking stairs! Uber to the top next time.
I saw it too, great performance
We love you Al. Thanks for being a part of my life since childhood. Btw I'm 39 on the 27th this month.
Happy Birthday! I’m 39 this month, too, and Al’s been there almost as far back as I can remember. Couldn’t ask for a better constant in life!
@@ovinophile thanks so much!!
@P Ward same here. Glad he could give us all happy memories!!
Same and I'm 50!
I heard Al play ‘Another One Rides The Bus’ on the Dr Demento Show in the early 70’s, and have been a fan ever since.
Well that would have been really something since queen released it in 1980, but we understand, first time you hear him, were hooked!
I remember Al played that song on the accordion and his friend played " a box"-just to make it weirder. Tom Snyder meanwhile laughed his face off. On the Tomorrow Show. 1 a.m. on NBC.
You are right, in the 80’s. I was remembering different events and places that triggered my memory. Sorry!
@@1dantown And that friend is still his drummer, Jon "Bermuda" Schwarz.
It's creepy and romantic at the same time, how is that even possible
The Power of Al, that's how. ( Weird, isn't it? 🎼🎵🎶🎤🎹 )
I honestly think he could write a song with wonderful music, using a Yellow Pages phone book for lyrics, and make it enjoyable. Thank you, Sir Alfred of Yankovic!
When you stop to think about it, this entire song is just happening in the speaker's mind. If you made a video of what happened in this song, there'd just be a couple people glancing at each other occasionally on a bus. The only time they actually interacted was when she had something in her teeth 🤣
@@DJCosmicLatte Exactly! That's what makes it that much funnier. It's an internal monologue set to music.
Makes me think of Gomez and Morticia from the Addams Family 😄😉
rindolce just like my poetry, he is a true source of inspiration
Weird Al Yankovic is a national treasure!!!
This is a work of genius. Who else could have written this? I can't think of anyone. And then to perform so well and with such passion. I am so grateful that Weird Al is in the world. My life would have been a lot more boring without him and his music. He kept me going during very low periods in my life.
Takes willpower for the musicians to go through all this without cracking up.
I want a dvd of this concert! Red rocks recorded it, so why wouldn’t they put the concert out
download the yt vid then burn this vid to a dvd-r disc
MLGGUY420 why would I do that? I want it to be official
That would be great!!!
MLGGUY420 Don’t download this song. If you want a free Weird Al song, I’d recommend Don’t Download This Song. CPFOA unite!
whats a Dvd?
Sadly i couldnt go to this tour, but I went to his last one, this is great!
That's okay, he finally came to my state and the cheapest tickets were over 400 dollars.
Yikes tickets were 35 to 85 for me. Great show.
Al, you have been my inspiration and dragged me out of a dark time a long time ago. I really thank you for all you have done and bringing comedy and laughs to everyone in the world.
This song is just so epically insane. A tour de force of one mans musings during a bus ride. It’s one of Al’s best songs ever. Right up there with Albuquerque and Genius in France.
I love this song, but not in a creepy way.
Having a bunch of unused HP ink cartridges.... a sure sign of an insanely rich individual.
Seeing him perform this when he was in Seattle was absolutely awesome!! Being at the Strings Attached convert was one of the greatest moments of my life
I was fortunate enough to attend this very show! The venue was beautiful, Al and the band played through a decent amount of rain, and I finally fulfilled my lifelong ambition of hearing "Harvey the Wonder Hamster" played live by a symphony orchestra.
What a legend, you never get old ❤️
My husband and I came out for the Sacramento show for our honeymoon and meeting you was a dream come true! Thank you so much for blessing us all with this amazingly orchestrated(ha) tour!
1:39 You're fifty-nine years old, and you can still kick like that?!
It's mystical really, he probably feeds off the laughter of the people he performs to, so as long as he keeps being him he will live forever.
It was my first ever concert. It was a great pleasure listening to the great music on display. Thank you, Al.
I wish the AXS network would air this show like they have with other shows from Red Rocks. I was there...one of the most amazing nights of my life! Thanks for sharing this with us, Al!
1:37 holy... that kick
Saw Weird Al in concert. One of the best live shows I've ever seen.
"But not in a creepy way." The best and most informative line in the song.
KAYMAN! Glad he cleared that up 🤣
Weird al still killin’it as always. I remember seeing the ‘Poodle Hat’ tour back in the day. Many have come and gone but Weird Al always persists and I love it.
Haha the lyric at 4:06 "so please let me cauterize your tear ducts with an arc welder" followed by that immediate cut to such serious string musicians is hilarious to me.
if you had never heard of Al and saw this... it would baffle the hell out of you
Oh man I wish I could have seen this in person! I bet the full orchestra was an incredible show. Man I never really realized how funny this song is! Here's the hollers I didn't get to send to you at the show!!> WHOOOOOOOHEHEEOOEOOEOEOEOEOOEOOEOOO!!! Thanks for everything
Do you even age mate ? I’ve been a fan since off the deep end
You haven’t aged
Yet I have and my grandma has!
Creams, guy

Morgil what you mean ?
He's immortal. I gots proof. I'll probably get whacked upside the head with an accordion if I keep posting this..
Davinci's "St. John the Baptist"

It's his vegan diet and clean living.
Not a lot of people noticed I think but I really appreciated when he kicked his leg into the air! It went super high and it shows that he is really flexible and healthy for his age. He is truly a legend. His concert in Airway Heights was absolutely amazing and I hope he comes back soon.
I saw this live. Weird al did a super amazing job. Strings attached was my first concert, and I loved it.
If you didn't catch him on this tour you really missed out! This was an amazing show!
Didn't get to see this year's tour, but seeing this performed live last year was one of the highlights of my life. Keep being awesome!
these shoes are the definition of style! LOVE YOU AL!!!
I’m so happy I found this channel
WOW.....HE CAN REALLY DO A HIGH KICK! Love this song
This song was already such an epic journey... Al transcends in this performance
You are an amazing man, Al. Keep making people smile and making life worthwhile, Mr. Weird.
Weird Al Yankovic, you were my number one Favorite growing up... AND YOU ARE STILL ARE, SHOOTING LIKE A STAR!!! 🌟
Keep it up with your Creative Lyrics to Music Parodies!!!
Thanks for Everything! 😎
Finally, an upload!
he is awesome!!!!! One of the true "original" artists. Listened to him from the 80s til now. Met him in 95 and was honestly impressed. Keep on going Al!!!!!
Amazing live performance! :D
Weird AL always rocks when he's live!
That moment when Weird Al makes such a great tour that the live performance is better than the original recording.
Amazing! Still rocking all these years. Check out those shoes!
Please sell dvds or something of the recorded concerts
Sunglasses Moonman he hasn’t released a concert dvd since the Alpocalypse dvd
@@dillonohlemiller9027 yeah, its just one of those hopes it happens but ultimately it won't
Saw him at Meadowbrook Theatre in Rochester Hills, Michigan (Detroit area). Strings Attached was incredible! Love the "long songs" you do. This one gets me though. I would always look at people driving in their cars and wonder about their lives and what if we were friends or had a family together. Although the song goes off the rails when he starts talking about body suits. But that is what is wonderful about Weird Al. He makes those comedic leaps. He links the personal experience that a lot of people do and takes it to its lunatic extreme for comedic puposes. Genius! American Treasuer! Love this guy!
You are the best!!! I love you
Al always makes my day
I was able to see this guy when he came to my town of Syracuse, Best Birthday / Christmas Gift EVER! (My parents bought the tickets for me for Christmas.)
Ive been listening to you since the 70's. Keep it up. It never gets old. Come to think of it....neither do you!
A wonderful souvenir of the STRINGS ATTACHED tour. Harry Chapin would be proud of what you concocted, because he had a great sense of humor. The only thing is.....no cello solo?
This man will never age.
Every time I heard it it’s better. Love true histories.
Al is still amazing after all these years.
"Weird Al" Yankovic is my favorite singer ever. I met the guy at a con two years ago. I admired him since I was 9. That was one of the happiest moments of my life. Continue to rock, Al. And continue to tickle my funny bone.
Al has done good with his life
I will admit that I hadn't actually heard this song before seeing it in concert, but man, it was one of the highlights of the night. (I can say the same thing about the biggest ball of twine in Minnesota too).
Happy Birthday. Big one, Al. Good for you. Lots of love. Thank you
I was at this show! Incredible performance.
WAIT PROFESSIONALLY RECORDED WEIRD AL STRINGS ATTACHED?!
Yes!
Calvin Kress now I want a dvd!
@@dillonohlemiller9027 Yo same. This was my first concert and it was a birthday present. I got so emotional at this.

Lol this is like my favorite song on Mandatory Fun
Me too, such underrated song
My favorite song, period.
I would love to see this legend live!
You have such a unique voice , always makes me smile :) Kudos dude !
Oh, I hope that I get to see him one day.
Im so happy that hes back
Al, I love you!!! I was at your strings attached concert!!!
Pure skill & talent.
Absolutely a life long fan!!..love weird al we need more!..
I really love your work and your music. Cause you made me feel what I am mischievous and energetic. Weird Al rules!!!! 💯💯💯💯
Saw this in Ft. Wayne, In. My wife's first Weird Al concert. She is one of us now! Bwahahaha!
We love you Al! Thanks for all the fun & happiness you’ve given me, my friends, & family Mr. Yankovic!!
Can you belief for even the briefest fucking second that this man is 59 years old? Sweet mother of god, the blood of the innocent goes a long way.
He’s getting grey hairs. You can see it when the wind blows it back at certain points in this video
When is the goddamn Weird Al + Tim Minchin tour happening?
This concert was amazing!!
Beautiful, Al is life
THAT WAS AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!
EDIT: And Lisa Popeil!!!! Hah! Amazing!!!
We Love You Al!!!
This was such an awesome night. RedRocks made Al even better
Your songs are amazing and I love your parodies keep up the good work
Happy 60th birthday, Weird Al!
This is the greatest love song ever written.
I love this song.
Top-quality product 🔝
Aw yay, glad something got a licensed release. I know how ridiculously expensive it would have been to do the whole show. Thank you, Al. Good song choice. We know how proud you are of JPE.
Love this.
