In an interview with Radcliffe…he says that Weird Al saw all these musical biography movies (Bohemian Rhapsody, Rocketman etc) and said “oh I guess truth in these movies has no priority…so I’m going to write my own movie with my own ‘facts’”…this entire movie is satirizing the absurdity of making movies that claim are accurate but really have only slivers of truth in it
He looked at his story and said “this is gonna make one heck-of-a boring movie”
@@drointhewind480 I love how this movie, Walk Hard, and Popstar perfectly parody those types of biopics/documentaries where it's made more dramatic to seem more impactful than just a guy making songs with his friends.

A lot of biopic do that actually
Daniel Radcliffe has had the best post-Harry Potter trajectory of the entire cast. Not because he’s been in the most movies since then, but because he’s grown so much with each role, and each role has been so unlike the previous one before it. Swiss Army Man, Guns Akimbo, Horns, and now Weird. Definitely more fun to watch him grow than anyone else.

I really didn't want to like this movie, but the historical accuracy and incredibly spot-on casting really won me over.

I saw him in concert last night! He talked about this movie and said he wrote a new song that was going to play over the credits, then he said "I'd like to play it for you now!" and the lights went down...and then they came back on and he said "But I can't because I signed an NDA, sorry, how about this one from my other movie instead?" and played UHF. It was very funny! He then also said "I don't know why we need a movie about my life since I've already written a song about it" and we were like "YESSS" and he was like "But you probably don't want to hear it right?" He's really funny teasing his audience! (He DID play Albuquerque in the end lol). It was so fun!
Now you know. The end credit song is amazing.

Total Oscar worthy performance by Daniel Jacob Radcliffe truly epic
Only celebrity/artist of any sort I have genuinely loved in my teens, 20s, 30s,40s and Im sure soon in my 50s. I've seen a lot of great concerts in my life as well and Weird Al was probably the most entertaining of all and just had an incredibly happy and positive energy.
They need to include ‘Eat It’ or ‘Fat’ in the film

Don't see why they wouldn't "Eat It" show cased one of his earlier albums (before he went all druggy and down hill), unless Roku couldn't secure the rights to it from the Jackson estate. I mean going by the trailer they apparently will get out "Amish Paradise" too so they absolutely have the timeline to go through all of his stuff.

As I sit here, with a weird Al shirt on, I look back and remember “Weird Al” for being you know ‘weird’. And the world tragically misses him, and his music shall always live on in our memories. He will be remembered for all eternity being a very likable guy.
He suffered one of the biggest drug addictions in the world, and he was sadly killed by Pablo Escobar. The world will miss him. He did go through drug and alcohol addiction, it must have been very hard. But now he’s out of it, and he is no more. We miss you buddy.

Just watched the film...how can you not smile at Dr. Demento's party guests. Just all the weirdness cameos you'd want and more. Fantastic.
This looks amazing. I saw Al in 1992 - and to this day it still ranks as one of the best shows I’ve ever seen.
speaking as someone who was raised in the 1980s and a total social misfit to match, I am finally looking forward to a biopic of the man whom I thought to be the patron saint of weirdness and who gave me the courage to say the one thing to those who've called me weird: a simple "Thank you". sure it may look like a parody and I know my niece -- who is a Harry Potter fan -- will be stunned but I have to ask this much: is it possible to see Daniel Radcliffe as a potential candidate for Best Actor? probably not...but as an Oscar predictor since Rain Man, I am willing to keep an open mind and I'm sure someone else is doing the same.
Ah, if I still had my junior high school (pre-Al) yearbooks, I could show you all the people who signed it by telling me I was weird.

I don't think Radcliffe is a bad cast of Al Yankovic, however I think Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson would do a better job.

My whole extended family were extras in the Spatula City commerical in UHF. From what I experienced he was a humble & gracious individual. Lively, jovial. Spent hours speaking to & signing autographs in the sweltering Oklahoma sun. I find it hard to imagine he'd put a cigarette out on someones skin.
