    The exciter shaft is more of an eccentric than a shaft.

      They are designed to be so that the brushes don’t stay static and get stuck from dirt build up.

      @@TeamSteversyes, but just a bit. This much will lead to an early failure of the bearings/bushing

    I don't know why I'm suddenly into hydroelectric generators 😂 as a kid I was always fascinated by machines with spinning components from fans in computers, hardrives, generators, flour mills control panels and what not

    so...is the shaft bent??
    does it "straighten up" with more speed (like the bearings require a specific speed to "center up"??)
    .
    or is it just old... and you are gonna let her wobble?

    • @jamescoffey4891
      @jamescoffey4891 Před 5 měsíci

      ...no self centeribg....its just the slip rings(seperate from main rotor)off center...super quiet under normal operation(s).

    @kevinwhite9919 Před 2 lety

    would have been pretty cool to make a long thermal video of the first spinup, then again as it's put into service, just to see how things heat up and reach a steady state under normal ops.
