LYRICS
Don't try to take this from me. Don't try to take this from me. Now.
Feels like I'm waking from the dead
And everyone's been waiting on me.
Least now, I'll never have to wonder what it's like
To sleep a year away.
Weren't we indestructible? Thought that we could brave it all.
Never thought that what would take me out was hiding down below.
Lost the battle
Win the war
Bringing my sinking ship back to the shore.
Starting over.
Head back in.
There's a time and a place to die but this ain't it.
If there's a future, we want it now.
Don't try to take this from me. Don't try to take this from me. Now.
Wish I could find a crystal ball...
For the days I feel completely worthless
You know I'd use it all for good,
I would not take it for granted
Instead I have some memories... for the days I don't feel anything.
At the least, they will remind me not to make the same mistakes again.
Lost the battle
Win the war
Bringing my sinking ship back to the shore.
Starting over.
Head back in.
There's a time and a place to die but this ain't it.
If there's a future, we want it now.
There's a time and a place to die.
This ain't it.
If there's a future, we want it now. - Hudba
Most underrated song on the album. The bridge is absolutely stunning.
***** Don't worry, if you scroll long enough, you'll see the "Paramore turned pop omgggg" comments even under this video. It's hilarious, honestly. This album cycle definitely showed how many paramore "fans" were just casual listeners.
Let's not mention the fact that it has become cool to hate Paramore, so even those who don't know the band feel entitled to share their "they're sellouttssss, it's the hayley shoooow" comments. Lol.
To answer your doubt I found this piece of interview on google:
"It was a member of Paramore's label that persuaded them to choose this track to lead their comeback. "This song happened, and I felt like, in the midst of all the other songs we were writing, it was very heavy and very much like a Paramore rock song, out of the ones that we had been coming up with," Williams told MTV News. "And our A&R guy, who we're really close with - his A&R every record of us, ever, and at this point he's just like a friend and a really close part of our team - he just flipped on the song since day one. And by the time we had it mixed and we were in the studio putting the finishing touches on it, he was like.... 'I can imagine this song taking over the world!' He was so excited about it, and we love every song on the record, but his enthusiasm was so contagious.""
***** i feel Monster is the most underrated single ever thats one of the best paramore songs ever!
Completely agree!
Respect to Paramore for finally winning a Grammy but I think this song is MUCH more deserving than 'Aint It Fun'
However, I also think Part II and Future are underrated.
When she hugs him I literally get chills every time, I love that part so much..

dude hahahahahha
Hahahaha
I think they did this video perfectly, the whole battle they show represents whats going down in her head, all the different colours flying around and exploding symbolises different emotions conflicting one and other. The general dude and his little army is her negative side slowly over powering her while her friends try and help her overcome it. She's walking towards him because she knows she has to deal with her negative side and when she gets to him intsead of killing it off she embraces it as part of her and makes peace with herself inside her own head. Then all the conflict ends and everyone celebrates and looks to the future. Relates to me so much!
Liam Tarr same thoughts. 😢 I hate how other MVs and songs without any substance are preferred more by people than this perfection. Paramore deserves more.
💛💙Paramore
First of all, the whole thing is about the wars the US declares for oil and oil purely to countries unable to defend themselves
Secondly, THEY'RE A FUCKING BAND. The girl and two dudes you saw having most attention on the video clip are paramore. Hayley is not paramore, taylor, jeremy AND hayley are Paramore.

"If there's a future, we want it now."
So powerful in all way
As far as I can see and understand this song, this is more about ending war. With war, I mean all kind of wars.
"If there is a future, we want it now" "There's a time and a place to die but this ain't it" These two parts I think it's about how innocent people are killed and they don't have a chance to have a future, cuz it was taken by someone else. No one is supposed to die like that.
When she hugs him, for me it's a example of love and kindness. That maybe if we would just accept people how they are, without judging or killing over religion, government crap.. MAYBE peace could be real. Love is one of the most strongest things in the world, I am sorry for those who don't know how good love is.
It's just how I see it, doesn't mean it's their purpose.
This is the best comment i ever read here tbh..

I'm from Russia. I always cry when I watch this video but I never thought that this will become reality for me personally. I'm so sorry for Ukranians, most of russians have friends and families in Ukraine. We are protesting. it is not our war, we didn't choose our goverment and we would never choose war.
☮☮☮☮☮
I'm sorry for all of you! There are victims on both sides and citizens who don't want war. I pray that God protect everyone and end this stupid war soon.
Love, Brazil.
Love you innocent Russians
Exactly!!! We should not blame the Russian citizens because they are victims as well... They didn't choose to battle with Ukraine, their government did
A poetic person known, as far as I’m aware, at this moment, under the initials of “E. A.” said: “I am a lion with your sexism stuck between my teeth.”
While not directly related to this topic, I understand there are a lot of people, right now, who’re at the mercy (or lack there-of) of their own government, with little-to-no voice at all… In a way, like a lion plucked from the habitat it grew up in as a cub and forced to stand on its hind legs &/or open its mouth for the “trainer” and his “audience.”
So, many people in Ukraine and those in Russia- along with many other regions surrounding them- stand with the oppressed in such a way that resists dictatorship, but still longs for peace.
So, think of yourselves as lions free of your trainer and the circus that silences your very existence. Be bold, be brave, and be so defiantly hopeful, that it’ll make Putin rather puke out both of his own lungs, before risk getting himself mauled by the lot of you or the real media. 💛💙

I've been a fan since 2006 or something, don't make me feel so old lol (not a fan from the beginning because I'm not from Tennessee)
I'm 32 and started listening at 16, so over half my life. I remember going into Hot Topic as a young emo lad and buying the Riot album with what was supposed to be gas money, but it was well worth it. Still one of my favorite artists and listen to their catalogue over and over and over.
I listened to Paramore for the first time last year, I heard "that's what you get" and fell in love! Riot! Is still my fav album of all time, I don't think I'll ever stop listening to Paramore.

Behold the power of hugs.
I understand why people keep saying they want the 'old paramore' back, but seriously? Like, they lost two of their founding members, one being a key song writer, and have grown up so much as people and a band. It's better than them repeating albums with the same sound over and over again. I think most of these songs stay true to Paramore's punk roots, anyway. It's just the singles (still into you and ain't it fun) that are more pop. But they're singles so they always will be. Songs like proof, part two and tell me it's okay are on the same album as still into you and are punk like their old stuff, so chill and just enjoy the music instead of complaining about their change. Fuck, even just listen to their old albums.
True but also every band has popish songs like take falling in reverse: bad girls club, does that song anything like them usually?
It's surreal how this song describes my battle with depression. This song gives me strength! Thanks Paramore
Watching this in 2020 like yeah, sure wish our demise in the US could be this cinematically beautiful.
A lot of us going to die in a crowded hospital. A lot of us are going to die on the streets. It’s already happening.
Honestly, I've listened to a lot of Paramore's older songs, and when I first heard this song, I legitimately thought this was one of their older songs. I don't understand why so many of their fans judged them by like 2 songs off of the self titled (ain't it fun, still into you). They obviously haven't changed that much. Ain't it fun and still into you were probably just songs to appeal to more people, so they could grow a larger fan base. Besides those two songs, the rest of the album was a lot like the other albums in my opinion.
because most rock fans are narrowminded
***** Totally agree. I have likes and my dislikes from the previous albums too, so picking my favourites from the newest one felt familiar in a way.
They don't write any songs on purpose of anything...songs just come out, and the reason why their style has changed a bit, is that Taylor is now the overall songwriter instead of Josh...They grow older, work with other musicians, make progress...totally normal.
I like the new and old paramore as you guys call it. They are much stronger and happier now? The goal in life is to be happy they are trying to achieve that. It's not like they are gone we are lucky they are even a band still. And their new album was kinda experimental And it's about growing up and they are still trying to find thier sound but PARAMORE IS STILL ROCK

I listened to Petals For Armor and now I’m on a Paramore binge. I’m so happy I got to see them back in 2015 😍😍
My own opinion and thoughts about the music video :
Love in A war
They protect Hayley at all cost because she is "love" they never let someone hit Hayley because when "love" dies, things gets worse and worse. And now she's walking towards the man (which is the war) taylor and jeremy (the people) screaming "no" because they thought that "love" will not solve anything, but when hayley (which is love) escapes from those man who are not letting her go (basically who don't believe in love), she immediately hugs the man (who was the war) and did you see the expression of the man? He was shocked and holds a second before hugging back hayley (love). Because he realizes that love can conquer him that made him surrender and end up hugging back hayley (love).
Surrender for love. Surrender for peace.
Good analysis

I know right? I just wish Hayley were willing to work with the label to re-write the band rights and distribute them evenly. They're not 15 anymore, time to act like adults. I just want all my band members together.
where is he??? I heard he left because of distribution rights and He just helped B.o.B. with a project
You basically have it. He left Paramore because he couldn't obtain equal rights to the band as Hayley. This has been an issue other former members have struggled with from the start.
+Laura To be fair, Hayley is the face of the band and the main(only?) reason a lot of people like it. While I have no doubt they both put equally tremendous effort in, Hayley brings most of the revenue, it's only fair that she'd have the most rights.
I mean put it this way: Jeremy left and we're all really sad and almost heartbroken about it, but the band goes on anyway. Paramore still exists. If Hayley had left, it would have been completely over.
That is true...I just think it's a sign that things aren't working. That's now a total of 3 members that have left for the same reason.
If only all wars could be won by hugging it out.
Didn't you know? They easily can be but it has to be Hayley hugging them for she is the chosen one of awesomeness!
2793p Oosh
this is hand down one of the best music videos I’ve seen i my life, in every aspect - from the song to acting, script, visual aesthetics and the overall message it carries.
acting especially gets me, like I genuinely believe the characters for these brief several minutes, ‘cause it’s in their eyes.
damn, this is so good.
I feel like this needs to be our new national anthem. I've always loved this song but it's extremely relevant now. Love you Hayley!! ❤️
The most underrated song of paramore
Hey fellow Indian, who is also into Paramore!
idk, Misguided Ghosts exists. But yeah this is underrated for sure.
*When someone buys me food and the ask for some of it*
Them: "Hey, can I have some chips?"
Me: "Don't try to take this from me, don't try to take this from me, now-ow-ow-ow-ow-ow-ow-ow!"
XD
+Retz XD This made my day, thank you X)
To be completely honest, I don't even remember writing this comment.
+Retz took you a while to think of that one huh?
+Retz lol
I've listened to this underrated song for 8 years and still love it.
Hello xRylai,
That's great.. how are you doing?
@@masibayarchiezzle6395 hi, we're still facing the lockdown due to the pandemic ;( how about you?
@@xrylai1252 Things are currently moving gradually..which country are you from? Don't your country have vaccine
@@masibayarchiezzle6395 I'm from Vietnam. I also have got vaccinated but there are more and more cases around here. How about you? Is it safe there?
I've listened to Paramore since I was 8. I am now 25. They used to be my favourite band. I find my soul resonates with every singular lyrics this beautiful lady presents. Screams to my soul through experience. This reminds me of my dark night of the soul and facing my shadow. The darkest time of my life. It literally is war. But like she said, lost the battle, win the war! SO MUCH LOVE ALWAYS. BEAUTIFUL LIGHTWORKERS. The universe honours
2019 squad where you at. 6 years strong and this song still holds it down,.
reggie076 this song never gets old for me
This video meant so much to me the day it came out and it still makes me tear up now...
We never left and besides the squad ended BC it's 2020
I've got depression for 2 Years now, and that's the fight against it visualized exactly the way it is for me. And that's how I imagine beating it one day. Even though I'm not feeling very strong and able to fight at the moment. Hopefully this day will come.
Be strong!
+Daniel Biagio I will mate! Thanks for reading, have a good day! :3
You're welcome :) I hope you get better (sorry for my english)
+Daniel Biagio No problem! I'm also not native english speaking. :3
this made me so emotional. I feel you.
Amazing song: so powerful, full of meaning's lyrics, wonderful video, great music arrangements and... Ilan on drums with Stewart Copeland vibes and the always amazing Hayley. Perfect 🙌
this video is one of the best MVs I've ever seen I think, fun concept, bad subject matter, and the climax is literally just a permanent on switch for dopamine and serotonin, I love it
I read all the comments and it's sad to see lots of people haven't understood a shit out of this video. There's a perfect concept, the video is written carefully. Details are not indeed, this shows the all idea in it. I can say I watched my fave music video. The way she hugged him in the last is not something stupid you get, it's "if there's a future we want it now". It can be punk rock or whatever rock you call but it's still better than all of the songs released in 2013 when it comes to video.
you seriously read ALL the 30.8k comments? how long did it take you and was it worth it?
I didn't but I gave my one hour to read as possible as I could. And maybe I didn't see the smart ones but I saw enough to see at least %70 didn't get it
Zoey Walter 1hr? damn girl u got lot of free time on ur hands :o
Yeah I'm just a musician so when Im not in studio I have the whole day :/
Zoey Walter dang thats cool :o what type of musician are u o.O
It's just a paramore kind of day.
I remember hearing this on the first time on TV and I was obsessed for months. I didn’t know who they were or what the song was. When I did finally find Paramore I was hooked.
Most powerful song I ever heard. Thank you, Paramore, thank you, Hayley.
I'm I the ony one that thinks that Hayley is an awesome actress? I mean, she puts so many emotions in it! When she is in the middle of the war and she's scared, trying to figure out what to do, and when she runs towards the guy that's trying to hurt her for hugging her... She's a hella actress!
And awesome song too, can't get it out of my mind :P
I also don't know how she managed to lay on the ground with people fighting while keeping a straight face *and* singing. I'd probably freak out and be afraid of getting stepped on XD
LunaBiancci no i've always thought the exact same thing! she would make a hell of an actress.
LunaBiancci I always think about that everytime I see this video!!!! She's an awesome actress.
To me this song i think is about making Peace and not to make war.
?
War carries humanity forward. Helps get rid of the weak ones
*The Moon* Not when it's not a fair fight. Do you really think the only people targeted by Western troops are the opposition's military? No, it's their unarmed civilians too.
Tasha Jay that works with any war. Western, southern, nourthern, eastern. People will get in the way. War is inevitable
*The Moon* Get in the way? Nah, it's seeking people out to fuck with them. Sometimes not killing in cold blood, but just messing with their heads for fun. Let me know if you want some vid links showing what the US military get up to.
I loved this so much, the meaning has so much more power now than before
I remember showing it to my mum and she cried in the hugging moment, so iconic
The power of hugs, children.
This helps everytime I feel hopeless I listen to this plus some other songs and feel much better
Violet Ramona ur not alone girl. Be strong! Please
Take it a day at a time! :))
same
@Captain Rupertikjakmos please let's be nice to each other
@Captain Rupertikjakmos That's not needed mate. Do better. Be kind.
The message of this song really warms my heart. It gives me hope. God I love hayely she's so lovely
One of my favorite Paramore songs! ❤😊
anyone else find it hilarious that Jeremy and Taylor are just running around for most of this video tackling people in the background?
the more i watch the video the better it gets. when i first watched i had no idea what it meant.. but now i see, all the war around them but in the end a hug fixes it all. AMAZING.
That's... that's what the viewer is meant to interpret upon viewing it for the first time. Kids these days...
GreetTheSacredCow don't label me as your idea of "kids these days" just because i didn't fully understand the video when i first watched it.
GreetTheSacredCow why not tell us what kind of message you get from this video?
This is one of my fav videoclips ever. Love this and love this song! 10 years later, after being released, I'm still watching it and listening to it. I am 30 yo now and it keeps being so powerful to me. Everything that happened in those 10 years enhance that feeling.
I used to listen to Paramore as a young teenager, then I got over with them (along with many other artists I was listening to at the time). It simply was a healthy transition from my teenage years to my early adulthood. Billboard's recent listing of Hayley at 13th on their 50 Greatest Rock Lead Singers of All Time reminded me of her vocal dexterity. Now listening to their songs almost 10 years later, I am completely awestruck. Not to mention her voluminous vocal outlet and accuracy of pitch, Hayley's vocal articulation is particularly noteworthy. Each consonant (as well as vowel) is uniquely distinct; such as "t" in "Lost the battle", "v" in "Starting over", or "ted" in "take it for granted". It's like every syllable stands on its foot and calls out loud for a spotlight. Yet these sounds never clash with each other. They are like infinite sparkles lightening up the night sky, to speak metaphorically. I don't have a specific idea yet as to what holds these phonemes/syllables together in a rich and colorful harmony, but I surmise it has to do with other aspects of her vocal expertise. Anyway, all the sounds are phonetically diverse, are susceptible of careful analysis. It's gratifying to the highest degree when you can experience the phonetical (even intellectual and sensual at the same time?) fecundity in Hayley's vocal. Deep respect for Hayley Williams.
Was it just me but does it make you smile when they hug, I smirk a bit. This is a good song :)
Hayley always makes me smile!
