2D-HD artstyle is probably one of the best things Square has done in the last couple of year. It's such great way to bring 2D JRPG back to life without loosing their identity. I really hope we get to see FFVI and Chrono Trigger getting this treatment.
I expect many games with this one in 2D HD, for me all that come out are the best games there is
I’d give looooots of money to get a FFIV remake in 2DHD omfggg
I want Unova remakes in the HD2D art style.
Imagine other JRPGs and some non Square Enix RPGs getting remade or new games developed in the HD-2D engine and Team Asano gets to develop them
Golden Sun 1 and 2
Fire Emblem The Binding Blade
Lufia 2
Terranigma
Final Fantasy 4,5, and 6
Pokemon
Dragon Quest 4,5, and 6
Super Mario RPG 2
yes! I was just talking about this is another video. 2D-HD is not only about the graphics style, but it also brings back many classic JRPG gameplay features that the series are losing. the last one surviving is DQ I think, and they announced that XII will have big changes, so...
I really want a Unova game in Nintendo DS style, whether it's a remake or a new game altogether (hoping for the latter. at this point we don't really need more remakes)
Worth the 28 year wait to see an actual, full remake. Very happy that more people will get to experience this game, I love it.
This is a remake?
@@jok3r687 That was literally the first announcement around 5 months ago, yes. Live A Live is a pretty iconic SNES title often called the spiritual predecessor to Chrono Trigger. And my god, the story is insanely good and intriguing.
@@jok3r687 Of a game from 1994, yes! I've never played the original but it's something of a cult classic. Looking forward to giving it a shot!
@@lobsteros im trying it in my 3ds and its preety good

Streibough: "Know this, my friend-"
Odio: "THE DARKNESS COMES FOR ALL!"
Perfect timing
Bought this gem yesterday and am blown away by how original and unique this game is. Everything is top tier. The Kung Fu master's story literally made me tear up a few times. Very well written stories. The visuals are stunning. The music also helps cement Yoko Shimomura as one of the greatest game composers of all time.
totally agree, such an hidden gem, so glad it will get the attention it deserved. Classic Square RPGs were classics for a reason.
Not once did I ever expect Live A Live to remade or release in English but here we are folks!
One can only wonder what's gonna get released next.
Everyone wanting their personal favorite JRPG in this engine.
Y'all forgetting Xenogears has been stuck in the PS1 since release.
Oh my lord, i hadn't thought of that. Xenogears HD-2D???
Megalomania has got to be the best video game music ever made. My word the suspense it builds in the trailer is massive.
I can’t wait to play this and I hope one day we get a remake of Chrono Trigger in this style.
Keeping my fingers crossed for that.
I hope present day storyline has some content for you (probably not lmao but still)
PLEASE
Imagine that with cinematics anime style, a Man can dream sometimes lol
check sea of stars
懐かしすぎて買った😊
This game is my muse!
The first time the announcement trailer came in direct, the visual and the music presented stirred something deep within me.
I hate designing things and have stopped making artwork and design since 2010. However after the direct, I was filled with the urge to create something.
Since then, I already have 3 registered trademark and created many illustrations. Truly a marvel how such a short game announcement can impact your way of life.
Happy to hear you got your passion back!
Sometimes we just need a little spark
Been having fun with the game so far. Looks amazing on the oled Switch [Portable Mode]
read my name!
Been having fun with this ratioo
@@cattoadgamer4356 ok man
so it will look great on a oled Sony master class... got it
@@trappedintimesurroundedbye5477 yeah I loved my vita. Still have it
THIS GAME GOES HARD!!! I was not expecting the events that unfolded in this game.
I seen a video talking about the original version literally 2 weeks before the direct im so hyped for this jrpg gem
Never played the game before but I really enjoyed the demo. I picked up the game this afternoon and have put a couple hours into the Prehistory adventure. It's so quirky and unique. I'm having a blast with its combat system and its sense of humor. The HD-2D is stunning. What a beautiful game.
Just finished the game and I am completely speechless. An absolute masterpiece.
Can't wait for my copy to arrive! Love the look and feel of this game. The music is awesome too!
I remember seeing an LP of this game many many years ago by a person here named Boltage McGammar. Honestly, getting to finally play this legit after so many years, genuinely brings a tear to my eye.
I had a blast playing Octopath Traveler. I can’t wait to play this!
"Know this, my friend, the darkness comes for all"
...Definitely just a quirk in the editing of the video
One of a kind jrpg experience for me. I teared up at the end. As good as chrono trigger or ff6.
First time playing this game and I got to say ..I love it!
It looks like this is the best year for the greats RPGs.
Downloading as we speak!! Couldn't get home fast enough!! The final chapter is gonna go so *HARD* 🤩🤩
Pre-ordered. Today is the day! 🥰👏
Im playing already for the first time and the game is amazing! Really remind me Squaresoft golden age.
The art style for this game is so beautiful 🤩
The character trailers end with one of the letters of LIVE or ƎVI⅃, but this trailer uses the giant A in the middle. I like that detail
Been playing and loving this game!
I’ll be picking my copy at GameStop today. Super excited.
How much do they sell it there ?
@@Mr100Rupees $49.99. Retail price. I had some store credits left.
So I finally beat this game today, and goddamn man, this is a legit 10/10 experience. Can’t believe that actual final boss is exclusive to the remake, since… everything about it just ties the entire game together very nicely. This is one game I definitely wish I could play for the first time again.
NGL. This trailer has me sold.
The demo was phenomenal and I’m excited to dive fully into this game
I'm loving this game
I hope my copy arrives today!
Just a couple more hours of work and I'll be picking mine up!
Never heard of this game. No im in love with it. I want more
I'd pay good money for a 2D HD FFVI
I pre-ordered this.
Cue the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Wave 2 comments in 3...2...1...
Thing is,they’re justified since it’s officially been a quarter of a year without any news
@@juniorr.1553 That's like saying someone screaming about criminal justice reform at a brick wall is justified.
As a comparison, SSBU’s Fighters Pass Vol. 2 officially began with the release of Min Min on June 29th, 2020. We wouldn’t get ANY news about any upcoming fighters until October 1st 2020 when Steve was revealed, which was roughly a wait period of 3 months and 2 days, and even then, SSBU’s DLC took long because of the fact that the game’s scale was massive and required careful attention to detail.
Wave 1 was released on March 18th, 2022, and to this day, we still haven’t gotten any news regarding Wave 2, and we’re sitting at 4 months, 4 days without a peep regarding Wave 2
Picking up my copy tonight!
Might as well pick up a copy of this ratuo
Mines getting delivered today
@@cattoadgamer4356 Ratios don't actually mean anything here.
Do it! We must Live a LIVE!
1:21 when that boss music hits
That boss music!-
It’s even better than the original!
LET’S GO!!!
finally the day has come!!!
a masterpiece
This looks amazing
Never played it before or even heard of it but I just bought it it’s currently downloading I’m excited
Waiting for my physical copy to arrive
Just unlocked The Middle Ages. Can't wait to see what happens next!!

the Metacritic score you post is for the critical reception from mainstream critics, yes. But it's User Score is decidedly lower. Also, it is not selling well. It's barely cracked #28 on most eShop purchases, being even outsold by the PIxar Cars 3 game, last I checked. Seems this game is definitely NOT catching on the way they were hoping. Critics love it, but it seems that the average public, not so much.
@@the-NightStar, What's your point? I don't care about user scores or the mediocre scores when I post them.
@@the-NightStar I know your comment is from a few weeks ago so the data was probably different but as of present the user score is 8/10, that’s only .2 points lower than the critic score. That’s hardly a big difference.
thanks!
Yes
The Diamond and Pearl remakes hould have been in this style
The scenario and combat designer of Live A Live (Nobuyuki Inoue), became director of Earthbound 3.
I have no freaking idea what this is but god damn does it look cool!
Live A live is getting really good and awesome and better and trailers too let’s gooo
read my name!
Oh my god what a masterpiece !
(and Bahamut Lagoon ?)
Cool
I have never heard of this game before but ngl I'm already intrigued.
Originally a very iconic SNES title often called the spiritual predecessor to Chrono Trigger, because it was made by the same team just a year before it. And my god... The story is insanely good.
@@marinellovragovic1207 I see, I'm even more hyped now
Let's gooooo
Friends tell me this is a must buy... ill have to wait for a good time to buy it financially speaking
Same here.
I wish your fortunes to turn for the better, as this game is nothing short of a phenomenal experience, *especially* for the asking price of $50!
I bet it's gonna release soon for LIVE A LIVE! 😁
Launch trailer means that the game is already out.
Really hoping this is the start of bringing all the lost Squaresoft Japan-only JRPG's West in this style we never got from the SNES era (Bahamut Lagoon, Treasure Hunter G, Treasure of the Rudras, etc.).
i love live a live
oh no my favorite character died
Hyped for this and Sea of Stars.
Buy Sea of Stars digitally if Limited Run Games distributes physical copies.
1:33 No Live A Live fan was prepared for the impact these lines would have upon returning to this video after beating the game's true ending.
Beautiful game. I can't wait to start playing.
I'm two characters in, and I already love this game. It's beautiful, it sounds great, it's fun to play, and the stories are fantastic. Absolutely play this.
Same here. Beat The Wild West and Present Day. Currently playing through pre-history
@@sinman2483 , I started pre-history today. The ones I've played through are China and Distant Future.
This looks so good it's ashame Square Enix didn't give Chrono Cross this proper remake treatment. Can't wait to play
It seems like there's 2 Square Enixes. There's the one that works with Nintendo to do these great exclusive releases and enhanced ports, and then there's the Tetsuya Nomura team that does crappy remakes, cloud-versions, and a million ff7-derived products.
Chrono cross wasn’t a 2d game lol
@@QMulative Tetsuya Nomura has nothing to do with most of those. Nice to see someone misblaming him. Again.
@@QMulative It would be a shame if Playstation stole that first Square Enix to make millions. Nintendo and fans would be furious
This game was so good
'was'? what happened D:
@@ecstaticmechanic he beated it?
I am going to grab this one If they drop the price in the future .
I have a feeling this one isnt going to remain in print for a long time…get while the price is relatively reasonable lol
@@RoadTo_MD They didn't say anything about limited run did they ?
It's already $50. That's an extremely reasonable price for this game.
@@TazTheYellow Dunno about that it's only a 15-18 hours game
Talking about Chrono Trigger without mentioning Akira Toriyama would be like making a sandwich without bread, it just doesn't work. Released in 1995 for the Super Nintendo, this RPG achieved what many considered impossible: uniting a captivating narrative with jaw-dropping visuals, all wrapped up in a battle system that made you want to fight even with the wind.😊😊
This is the first games that's caught my eye in a few years looking forward to playing it.
Now I just need Treasure Hunter G released in this way.
I wish they would give golden sun this 2d HD treatment.
One can only hope.
Given that "HD-2D" is a marketing term of Square Enix, and that Golden Sun was made by Camelot, I wouldn't hold your breath.
This is more of a remake than the last of us.
WHOO HOO!
This game is amazing ! I didn't knew there was a hidden gem like that. It was worth waiting.
My game of the year so far. Loved it.
I mean, it looks cool. It looks like octopath and that game was good.
Its way better than Octopath
@@TheAlibabatree we’ll see about that
I love both games, but it is clear now that Octopath Traveler was more or less aping Live-A-Live in its design. Also, Odio was a vastly more rewarding endgame experience than Galdera.
Chrono Trigger with these graphics and an orchestrated soundtrack please lol
Looks cool but I need to finish Octopath first lol
Does anyone know what the song that starts at 0:48 is called?
Shame some of us could only afford one game, wish this came out last month… It’ll be a while before I can get this.
read my name!
Fight the Megalomania of Hatred, heroes!
Imagine a suikoden 2 with this kind of art style and more additions or history ...
The original artstyle fits suikoden 2 perfectly. you are wrong there.
@@Symphony85p well its just an opinion i really like the manga/anime and traditional style in suikoden but this artstyle can fit too at least in some places or moments in the game like the wars in suikoden 2 i think but we never gonna see it
@@musculator36 It would be good ofc but what i meant is that it is not something they need to do it is already perfect as it is.
@@Symphony85p i understand my dream is play another game like suikoden2 with the same style (i hope eiyuden chronicles ) make me feel the same

Managed to get a preorder with the goodies! Wonderfull game 🥇🔥 Thank you Nintendo for always bringing quality!
Anyone from Australia purchased this physically?
I have the Australian cover but my cartridge is the UK one with the number 12 on it.... Anyone else in Australia?
already bougth my copy, im waiting for it to arrive. Sure im gonna love it, look so unusual in front of other 16 bits jrpg of the time or even today standars
hey, is this game more like octopath? or more like chrono chross/suikoden, I mean is that each characters know each other? bcs I've been searching for rpg game that more like suikoden
Live-A-Live is one-of-a-kind, but also a lasting inspiration for many titles, from Chrono Trigger a few months after its release, to an entire slew of indie RPGs from the last decade.
In Live-A-Live, every character has their own self-contained chapter in time and space, and when each of those stories is complete, they all get to team up for the final chapter.
Imagine a 2D-HD Golden Sun Remake 🤤🤤
We all can just imagine it. As long as Team Asano is the one developing it. Heck, in the Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake trailer, the camera angles during battles had fans imagining Golden Sun.
or just the continuation from what they left....
The game's finally out now. Maybe this is the time I tackle the demo or not? 🤔🎮
Might as well check out the demo first. If you don’t like that, then you wouldn’t want to waste money on the full game.
