  • This week in the bike workshop we're putting together a Cannondale Topstone Gravel bike. This bike is actually going to someone who contributes quite a bit to the channel... it's our camera guy Chris!
    We've added the Joes Bikes touch with a custom decal kit in holographic red the same as a Santa Cruz we featured on the channel recently.

    I was like, I've seen stickers on this channel before. But seeing individually cut letters, that don't have connecting webbing to add bumps or affect the gloss or matteness of paint. Newly founded wow.

    Beware: Read Cannondale’s fine print in their Warranty Policy. They may use it against you for their best interest. My $5000.000 carbon fiber frame Jekyll broke after six years of use. Cannondale never made a finding that it was due to use or abuse. A hairline crack formed at a weak point in the frame. The bike was sold to me with a lifetime warranty on the frame. The best offer Cannondale gave me, under their lifetime warranty, was 20% off of retail - yes, that's right 20% off of retail. I fought them on it over a two month period and lost. So, I am now stuck with a 34lb paperweight. Cannondale has what I feel is the worse warranty in the bike business. If you do purchase a Cannondale bike and something goes wrong, know that they probably will not work with you at any level in your best interest. In my opinion, they do do not value you as a customer, they only value your money. This has been my experience.

    • @userbeverage
      @userbeverage Před 3 lety

      That sucks, man. Watching some other youtube channels I also get the impression that the engineering and quality control can be really appalling at many of the major brands, Cannondale, Trek, Canyon etc., so I guess we're being ripped off quite often by these companies.

    • @65010
      @65010 Před 3 lety

      @@userbeverage Friends of mine have had great warranty support from Specialized bikes, I'm not sure of the others. I now own a Transition Scout - fantastically fun bike. Transition is owned by fanatical mountain bike riders. It is my belief, hope that if something goes wrong with the bike they will honestly follow up on their warranty promise.

    • @fennec13
      @fennec13 Před 2 lety

      yeah a lot of these big and so called "reputable" bike brands - like trek, cannondale, etc - are huge rip offs - they don't actually stand by their warranties and will do anything they can to rip you off.
      I am never getting a carbon bike for that reason -
      sorry to hear. I hope you find a better bike from a better company.
      Try Giant.

  • @annahpaquentin6047

    I’m enjoying the bike so far czcams.com/users/postUgkxMesz3KOGEmwmvyKQfLfrRSUXLFzfVHZA My only real complaints are the brakes and the pedals. I feel like a bike designed for bigger people should have much larger pedals and more heavy duty brakes. I’ve only gotten two really good rides out of it, minimal downhill action, and the brakes feel like they’re already going out. A larger person has more momentum, so I think this wasn’t thought through very well. Also, I wear size 13-14 wide shoes. My feet cramp up on these pedals that are clearly made for smaller feet. Since I’m not a pro rider (and I don’t think many are who purchase this bike) I don’t think that the straps on the pedal are necessary at all. None of this takes away from the enjoyment I get from riding, however. I’ll just head to a bike shop to improve on a few things.

    man that stem looks atrocious - ruins the lines of the bike imo.
    a redshift stem would have been much nicer and still provided the polymer based
    "suspension" that one does - yikes.

      @einundsiebenziger5488 Před 3 lety +1

      @@JoesBikesUK I am sure there was a specific reason why that stem found its way onto the bike, yet I am also sure there are better-looking parts to fulfil that purpose. The most important thing though, is that the customer is happy, and I bet he is.

    • @JoesBikesUK
      @JoesBikesUK  Před 10 měsíci +1

      Hi Bike Life, glad you like the bike, I hear ya on the stem, they are not for everyone I suppose. I do like the Idea of some for of shock absorption on a gravel bike though, not sure they have designed one that's not ugly yet! What would you like if any?

    • @BikeLife154
      @BikeLife154 Před 10 měsíci +1

      @@JoesBikesUKi understand the thinking behind these stems, but I'd rather add a set of carbon wheels with 45mm tyres run tubeless at low pressures or a carbon bar. I realize the cost is considerably more. However, I believe that would give you a similar amount of comfort while looking a whole lot better imo. I'm in the process of rebuilding my 2018 CaadX and if I can that's the direction I will go.

    • @JoesBikesUK
