I had this on tape in the day. Mum loved to hate Schuey but he was always my fav driver. Seeing him later on Top Gear how relaxed and cheerful he was shows how much he grew as a person. Keep fighting Michael.

People can call him a cheat all they like but he shook up the "boys club" that was F1
I supported Mika back in the day but there's no denying Michael

Schumacher had a God-given gift of feel that few other drivers ever receive--you can learn to go faster, but you'll never be the fastest without the gift, especially in the rain.

I think someone else famously said that if you see a gap and don’t go for it, you are no longer a racing driver! Senna/Schumacher, Schumacher/Senna! Benetton was nowhere near the car that Hill and Coulthard had but skill and strategy made them true champions! You surprised me with this video Big Zeddie! Excellent choice

All the drivers have a desire to win, they wouldn't have got as far as formula one otherwise but very few are genuinely ruthless. Michael definitely was, Senna also. The only driver I've seen since to have that streak is Max Verstappen.

Very interesting documentary on schumacher, he was single-minded like senna, but seemed a nice family man. Really tragic how it turned out for him. Always have hope for him one day to make some sort of a recovery 🙏

It's been great seeing Mick starting to show moments of brilliance (like his dad) in the last two grand prix. I think he's turning a corner. Schumi would be so proud.

I feel both Murray and Wattie believe that it was a racing incident. A little cynical, yes, but a racing incident all the same (definitely more innocuous than what happened a few years later). I know that if I watched this as a 10 year old I'm thinking Damon's a sour git and it's beautiful in a way for the English because what better than a German to rile them up, but in his place I know I'd feel just as bitter and knowing the history of things with his dad then, that bit he talked about Jim Clark gains an extra bit of significance given that these people were around the Hill household back in the day....I almost see a parallel between his life and what Mick is facing now.
That graphic that Jonathan Palmer was talking about with regards to the speed and braking differential between Schumi and Johnny Herbert was extremely interesting....I can't remember ITV or even anyone else showing data like that since then - I can imagine teams are understandably incredibly protective of any data that they have for fear of their competitors gaining an upper hand. A shame really, it could make for some interesting TV pieces.

Damon never impressed me. He made mistakes that rookies did. His ROOKIE teammate Jacques Villeneuve took the title fight to the VERY last last laps in Japan when Hill should have already won the title three races before. Hill is a shadow of his father and to this day, quite a few still believe the Williams team intentionally loosened Villeneuve's wheel to spoon feed Hill the championship.

I don't think that Hamilton comes close to what Schumacher did. Forget the statistics! Anyone who knows anything about statistics can tell you that not only do they NOT give you the whole picture, but they can be manipulated to present both sides of any argument. (I know someone who worked for Statistics Canada for 30+ yrs; and she explained it to me far better than I could.
You have to take into account all the additional information: car technology; track technology; tyre technology; driver knowledge; fuel types/technology; FIA regulations; other drivers; etc... None of these things are ever considered by F1 fanboys/girls, when they ignorantly declare Hamilton as the G.O.A.T.
Just look at the data comparison of how Schumacher entered and exited a corner, when compared to his teammate! That alone, shed light on WHY the data was different. Just looking at the numbers doesn't tell you that. You have to understand what's going on.
Michael was a driving machine, but he understood all aspects of racing better than any other driver. That's why he will always be the G.O.A.T. of F1 racing drivers... and possibly of any automotive racing discipline.

He was the GREATEST. Hamilton is an opportunist who always jumps ship whenever another team has the absolute best car. Hey, he doesn't have the best car this year and can't even get second in the points. And Schumacher fought Senna a lot. Senna would brush Hamilton aside like a fly...

At the time , this documentary really highlighted the divide between Schumacher and the other drivers. They didn’t like him, trust him and there was clearly despondency. Michael wasn’t likeable then. Arrogance, individualism, setting yourself apart from your fellow drivers and dirty tactics wasn’t what won you friends. It’s different now. Nowadays that brand of Self Importance is almost applauded.
