  • Presenting the brand new GSX-8R, a new middleweight sportsbike from Suzuki. Immediately highlighting the R element is its GSX-R-inspired full fairing, wind tunnel-tested to increase aerodynamic performance, and adorned with bold 8R logos. There's suspension from Showa, a bi-directional quickshifter, power modes, traction control, and 5" colour TFT screen.

Now that the 8R is out I have to decide between it and the 8S. For me, the thing that will make the biggest difference is the comfort of the seating position. If the 8S had the windscreen and the improved front suspension, I am about 99% sure I would go with the 8S. I wish to God (not that that ever seems to make any difference) I could test ride each to help me decide but where I live you typically have to buy it before it before you can even sit on it (Virginia). I think the dealers nationwide could sell a lot more bikes if they offered test rides. I really envy riders in other countries!

This is a really nice looking bike built on a great platform. I worry about the suspension. I think Suzuki missed an opportunity not charging a bit more and adding adjustable suspension. The Showas on the 8R are apparently firmer than the 8S which is already firm on B roads, where the fun really happens for most riders. I will definitely test ride and maybe see what the dealer will give me for my 8S. Hope it’s not too firm a ride.

As much as I like The Suzuki GSX-8R, I feel Suzuki should design a smaller variant, say a 300-400cc version, to fill the gap the GSX250R had. I personally need more than a 125cc but don't need a 700-1000cc bike. Come on Suzuki, please re-introduce the GSX250R with a bigger bore or a smaller GSX-4R.

You expected a real supersport feeling from an 8S with fairings ? Bro... I expected a more sporty position like the RS660, not necessarily supersport, but also not a literal sports tourer style.

@DoctorStrange01 yea more like the r7 and rs660 not necessarily supersport. But the bars on this look just too high. Like a ninja 400 or 650 or sum

Because no one buys super sports any more and so they have all but vanished from the market. Not really practical everyday bikes. The mid weigh market is now about ridable bikes, rather than racers.
