  • Is there still a place for the non-Zenix Innova in 2024? Toyota seems to think so as the venerable MPV is still available with its reliable diesel power and spacious cabin.
But is it enough to go against more modern options? Check out our Review and let us know what you think!

The Innova will forever be cemented as the _unofficial National Car/MPV_ of the Philippines, plainly because it is as ubiquitous as the jeepney, and whether you agree or not, is the only de-facto MPV to buy in a sea of MPVs that had flooded our market. And that's facts.

Going to get the Innova XE this week. Couldn't find a car, even second hand that had more value for money ratio. Nice little engine with a bit of pull, decent amount of space, no frills exterior (who cares if buying MPV unless you want to impress the soccer moms), and basically gets you from A to B in reliable fashion. Price is great and resale value even better. What's not to like really? Compare those points with pricier sexier mpvs and you notice the Innova has excellent value. Of course if you have the budget for a Fortuner or similar and don't need two vehicles you will get a higher end vehicle.

In the Philippines, the mother of MPVs. The FX (probably the goat of utility vehicles), and the Revo are "AUVs". There's also the Adventure and the Sportivo as examples. They just have a distinct configuration where the 2nd row bench completely blocks the third row (face-to-face benches), which also acts as the cargo space. AUVs are more truck-like in appearance as well, boxy, narrow, and square-ish.
When the 1st gen Innova came out in 2008, it looked more like a giant car than a truck, with a more rounded, wider, bubble-like design that's a lot roomier in the inside than the AUVs. Plus you have a foldable 2nd row to have complete access to the third row (no more face-to-face benches). Still a PPV at heart with a car-like appearance.
And, as they say, the rest is history. Like the FX that ruled the roads before it, it is now an icon. The Zenix will have big shoes to fill and it hasn't done so yet. I don't own one. But salute to this Philippine icon!

Purchased a Innova V once the uni body FWD Zenix Hybrid was introduced. Purchased the 2.8 before Toyota phases it out. We have a Prius and don't want another Hybrid or EV. The same goes for Fortuner and HiAce. Shopping for a Fortuner LTD 4x4 or GRS 4x4 at end of this year and HiAce GL Grandia in 2025. I'm fortunate enough to evaluate so many new vehicles. The technology seems great at 1st, it isn't reliable and is costly to maintain for long term. Good for someone who buys a car every 5 to 7 years and is willing to lose money on resale, but i keep vehicles for their entire service life.

What’s wrong with you ‘tol? 1:22 the Zenix is a TNGA monochassis platform with a 2.0L gasoline engine.
The REAL Innova is an IPV platform with a 2.8L diesel engine.
The only similarity they have is the way Toyota gaslights the dumb into thinking this Zenix is the 3rd gen Innova. It isn’t, it’s a downgrade to the superior IPV platform and tested 2.8L engine.
If anything, the Zenix is closer to, and the MPV version of the Corolla Cross. Both share the same TNGA monochassis platform.
Alis ka na nga jn, ako na mag review. This is like comparing Lindt to Goya then saying the Goya is the 3rd generation version of the Lindt Swiss Chocolate eh.
