    seems like a winner, looks like your getting it sorted out, several things affect the steering and push. id worry less about the rear toe and try putting a little toe in on the front, different front tires maybe. a soft rear can make it push, toe in the rear helps with squat and squat unloads the steering under power. anyway seems like your experimenting and will get closer, do keep in mind the 2wd cars will never corner like a 4wd.

      @@brianargo1659 Hi Brian, that sounds like something I could try for sure! currently I'll keep the wheels because of budget, but if I could I would certainly go for a set of dirt race wheels and tires just for handling purposes. in terms of weight, this is a very hefty model in comparison to many others but I'd guess that youre correct in saying if i add weight to the front end it would understeer less. thanks for the feedback and make it a great day! 🙏

    Haven't had any problems with mine and have been bashing it for over 30 minutes on different types of terrain every day since I completed its build. I have put an intermediate brushless combo (Copperhead ESC, 7700kv Castle motor) on it and it's not exactly a tame car with that electronics but it's not showing any signs of fatigue and drives excellently well.

    Hi Rex I think a change of tyres especially on the front would help cure that understeer on the loose stuff . You could try some thicker oil in the front shocks to stop it pitching so heavily on the front end. Have a look at the df03 spring tuning set that usually works well in a lot of Tamiya buggy’s. Keep up the good work ;)

    • @rexrcs
      @rexrcs  Před 11 měsíci +1

      Yes to a certain extent, soft springs will allow the weight transfer, but if they are too soft, once the weight transfers, the springs are not strong enough to push the tire into the ground to grab grip

    Tamiya made a bunch of 80s kids happy with this. This is about as fast we could get something like this to go back then with the technology available. However it is Tamiya. You could try Softening the rebound in the front shocks and or add a little bit of spring rate in the rear once it’s close you can turn the front in by adding or reducing rear sway bar. Basically you’re just trying to Slow and reduce the weight transition to the back so the front has more weight on it to grip

    If you want to compare this buggy to other 2wd buggies the Kyosho Dirt Master would be the one to test this against. What is interesting is the the Tamiya BBX has a ball diff but no slipper clutch. The Kyosho Dirt Master has a slipper clutch but no ball diff. I would recommend to make sure both of these buggies have both a ball diff and a slipper clutch too. Thoughts?

    • @rexrcs
      @rexrcs  Před 11 měsíci

      I dont think this buggy is comparable to the Dirt master per say, they are quite different, the dirt master is like a typical 2wd race buggy, meant for a track, and can be bashed. the BBX is more a modelers rc buggy, with capabalities to race. ball diffs are certainly better for low grip siutations as the balls allow for a great range of differential speed to either side but ball diff is finicky and loses its tune easier. gear diff is usually for higher traction but it much more durable and consitent, howver you are limited to the differential speed that the spider gears can achieve. a slipper clutch is a must if its available, i mean why not? you absolutely do NOT need it, but if you can do it, why not?

    • @alfredyost7972

      You know what is interesting about these cars? The Kyosho Dirt Master does include a slipper clutch but no ball diff. However , the Tamiya BBX includes a ball diff but no slipper clutch . No RRC anymore, after this disappointment with the BBX?
    Looks like you're running lots of toe out in the front (GoPro distorsion?). When fully into a corner ALL the weight and grip is on the outer wheels. With the Tamiya's limited max steering angle, that means larger turning radius. Does it really understeer, pushing straight over the front wheels?
    I think it should come with an oil-filled gear diff to have some control on the loose stuff.
    In an SRB at least, a diff is not really an upgrade.

    • @rexrcs
      @rexrcs  Před 11 měsíci +1
