Story about the double wrist lock/Kimura. So this move exists in every form of grappling under different names. The reason its mostly known as the Kimura now is due to the popularity of UFC and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. The Gracie's began calling this move the Kimura after Helio Gracie competed in a Vale Tudo match against Masahiko Kimura, who was one of the top Judo guys of that time. Kimura broke Gracie's shoulder with the double wrist lock and held it for some ungodly amount of time because Gracie refused to tap etc. So the Gracie's then referred to the move as the Kimura in honor of Masahiko Kimura.
Jim is right about the belts. When Jericho had the WWF title and big gold belt it felt like it meant something.
Definitely. It was a great visual.
Jericho character became a joke though. I like Jericho but Austin or Rock should've been the 1st undisputed champion.
it did mean something, he beat Rocky and Stone Cold both in the same night. Y2J killed it and was at the top of his career atm.
Jericho cheated in both matches and it meant no more comparisons between belts
@BUPMY1 Vince couldn’t let Austin go over Rock and vice versa. He had to keep them on the same level.
Cornette rightly corrected himself. Even going into this match, I was talking with a friend and asked, ‘What could these two really do differently?’ He reminded me that the first match was much better than the second. Yet, as the match unfolded, he text me saying, ‘It’s the same match as they had last time’. The only difference was that Roman’s shoulder legit went out and he wasn’t working that. Heyman did an excellent job on the improv with that.
His shoulder wasn’t dislocated. Mark.
@@aro3275 I’ll never understand guys who call people that, who have never been in wrestling. Like, you’re the one throwing wrestling term insults at people, but calling me that?

Loved it and, for whatever reason, he reminded me of a manic version of the witch doctor in Aqua Teen saying, “Rise chicken.”
@@danielburger1775 Nah mate, Heyman is a master. I love his facial expressions, the way he looks at Roman is awesome.
I thought the match was basically 8 suplexes, 5 spears, 4 superman punches, 2 F5s and an underwhelming finish.
That's exactly what it was and that was pretty awful given what they're capable of doing. Plus we just saw Hoobs vs Lee putting on the kind of match you WANT to see two big men put on.
@@billywashere6965 I get what you're saying but this was a big match. Floyd or Conor vs top contender is always going to have more hype than two lesser known guys having a great contest. That's how hype and casual big fights work.
@@davyjones2032 Uhh, but the hype has to deliver in some way, and in this case it didn't. Your Floyd vs Conor is a good example because Conor went in as the underdog and the hype DID deliver because Conor did much better than most people expected, and the fight had a lot of wild moments and interesting exchanges. There were no interesting exchanges in the Brock vs Roman match and nothing but the same two moves from both guys repeated with zero drama.
@@billywashere6965 so hype and poor delivery or zero hype and delivery? Which one makes more money? Ideally you'd want both. Also it's not like the Main Event killed the show unless of course you're one of those people.
@@davyjones2032 No one is going to dispute hype doesn't make money, but if you don't want to lose mind-share and stock in a commodity the hype has to deliver in some capacity. The only reason people were hyped for this showdown was because the story was different, so people wanted to see how it would play out, yet it played out identical to every single other encounter, so it didn't really deliver in any regard to what the hype portrayed. It didn't kill the card, but rather the card was good enough to save this bout from stinking up the event (I'm sure it would have been booed out of the building if it were on Raw).
Vince and Stone Cold were in the ring together for RAW 25 back in 2018. Vince said he was an AARP member, and Stone Cold still stunned him.
You can see a giant lump on his shoulder after the match, and he was straining to hold up both titles on RAW.
Torn triceps
They actually talk about that on the podcast just after where this clip ends
Yes I noticed that too n you could see the genuine pain on Romans face in the armlock n when he tried to lift the belt!
That giant lump is called a tricep lol
@@PrimeTimeGala my triceps don't look like that and that's me in my profile.
The thing for me was the whole "I'm coming for blood" brock kept saying in the promos. The match should have been no disqualification. A table spot some weapons maybe spill into the crowd. It was probably their worst match in this 7 year series. I assume this is their final match together and they hyped it so well, gave it big fight feel but it was just shit.
This is the same exact match that we have seen since 2015. However I will say that the atmosphere for this match was much different than the previous matches. I think that’s a tip of the hat to WWE for managing to build somewhat more excitement than usual for a match we’ve seen multiple times over the course of seven years.
Yeah there's no denying the promotion machine was on-point for the match, but the match itself was a complete throwaway.
Exactly. I think it's one of those matches that the hype along is enough especially after sitting for 3-4 damn hours lol.
We’ve seen this match PLENTY. They’ve had 2 matches already at Mania, a singles at SSlam, a four way at SSlam, two singles in Saudi (one being a Cage match) and a Triple Threat at Fastlane. There was absolutely nothing new or interesting in the entire match, just going through the motions to put both belts on Roman.
But yet Omega vs Okada went on for a whole year and it was the same matches
@@charlesbuckley5615 this series has been going for 7 years now. It was still a good match.
Actually counting this one, roman and Brock have wrestled 3 times at mania. 31, 34 and 38.
Yeah I can’t stand how they just spam finishers there’s no storytelling…. Just big move , pin, rinse , repeat….
@@charlesbuckley5615 nah it was a trilogy. And it didn't went on for 7 years. The last match was special they didn't had same matches
I believe the reason their fist match was so special and the other ones just weren’t as good as they should’ve (besides the whole people turning on Roman) is that the first one was a hard heavy hitting match, they were being “stiff” to each other, and felt like they didn’t like each other, it felt somewhat like a fight. And as for the following matches they got creative and started using tables and barricades and shit. I really don’t think that’s what people wanna see in a Roman vs Brock match. Just these two beating each other up and making the match feel like a fight.
The first one, Roman was rejected as a main event guy by the fans and Brock just re-signed with WWE for huge money. They both had something to prove - Roman that he can hang in the main event and Brock that he's worth the money.
So Brock stiffed the shit out of Roman and Roman took it like a man.
Combined with the low expectations and the match being booked to perfection with the Rollins cash in and everything else, it turned out to be a total classic.
It's still probably Roman's best singles match ever.
Yeah, I just think that going into their WM 38 match they should have just realize that they needed to stop making the big moves every three minutes and try to make this match similar to their first one in terms of in-ring work, I mean, they already got the people hooked.
I don't want to see either of them in the main event of anything anymore.
Man, for all the hype of the "Greatest Match in WrestleMania", this match fell flat. Hopefully, this is the final ever feud between Brock and Roman.
It was bad advertising as the greatest match in Mania history happened long ago...Hogan v Andre.
@@yoholmes273 the same reason the “greatest wrestling match ever” between edge and orton fell flat. I was hyped to the point to only be disappointed
@@yoholmes273 hogan vs Andre is not the greatest unless you have nostalgia for it. Yes hogan was huge in the business but unless he’s working with a great worker his matches were always lame. But to each their own
So stupid to throw that title on a match that will happen after 10 hours of ppv’s when you factor in stand and deliver.
@@MajinFury No. That match was actually really good lol. I get it wasn’t live so maybe they massaged the footage a bit but Edge v Orton is one of my favourite matches of past few years.

Yes, we have seen this match. Hopefully we can move on from Roman vs Brock now. Also, I didn't know about them doing the finish early, but it makes sense since Roman popped his shoulder back in place after he won.

"I think I've kind of seen this match" a big portion of the wrestling community was saying this despite the good build. They had wrestled something like 3 times already.
Isn't this their FOURTH match just at Wrestlemania? There was this one, the one where Seth Cashed in, the one where Brock hardway'd Roman with that forearm (on the same WM as the Taker-Cena "match", IIRC). There was another one in there too, wasn't there?
@@Cruising_On_Lake_Havasoma nah just 3
@arjhhfg Christ... Even Cena and Orton think these guys need to move on to something else.
@@Cruising_On_Lake_Havasoma Funny thing is compared to something like Cena-Orton, these guys really haven't wrestled THAT often. It just feels that way cuz the matches have all been the same for the most part.
But Omega vs Okada storyline went on for ages and was boring yet I never hear anybody complain about that
The Build-up to this match has been great, the updated personas for Brock and Roman are fantastic, and Heyman is on the mic selling all of it. The match sadly was exactly like every Roman/Brock match, now don't get me wrong I was enjoying it, for the most part, I guess the hopes it could be better and the hype of everything that came before it. Sadly the match feel flat and that sudden ending made it worst. From the way Roman's shoulder/arm looked, I guess they called some sort of audible. But it felt so disjointed to end the match with about 15 mins left till midnight. Everyone was expecting a Rock tease or something. This was not the greatest Wrestlemania match of all time, nor did I ever expect it to be. But now we can move on, Roman has his Mania win over Brock.
Even the build up was decent at best...those Roman/Brock matches are bad.
Another great visual was the closeup of Roman struggling to get to the ropes, and then you see Heyman's tiny little finger push the rope towards Roman.
We've all seen this match before, and when both guys do 3 moves each it doesn't leave much room for anything exciting. Fans have become so desensitised to these short brock/roman '3 moves of doom' matches that when a superstar puts on an actual wrestling match it blows peoples minds.
Umm every wrestler has 4 to 5 moves of their own
@@charlesbuckley5615 Yes, but they also use other moves to build to those big signature moves. So no, this crap can’t be hand waved away and excused with the tired old, “bUt EVeRyBOdy hAs ThEIr OWn fEw MoVEs 🤤🥴💩” crap.
@@charlesbuckley5615 Sure, and how many more moves were used during the Seth/Cody match?
It's really dissapointing to watch a constant 5 moves of doom, there's never any build because you never know when a finish is coming, you can't build momentum, and on top of that it just makes it into a super hero competition, whoever has the most powerful move wins. It's nice to watch older matches for a refresh every now and then.
Paul Heyman is living his best life right now.
The match was pretty lame. Brock mostly did suplexes and F5’s with Roman doing multiple spears and superman punches. They should of added Goldberg in a fatal 3 way to see who can do the same 2 moves the most.
I rather the elimination style of the 3 way dance just be something different always was s big shocker when the champion got eliminated because then you knew a new champion be crowned
I didn't watch Mania, but I think the whole wrestling community could have predicted beforehand the match would have no limits on german suplexes and spears. It's the kind of shit that bugs me about AEW sometimes when there are a surplus of superkicks and bumps through tables & guys still kick out....
Umm stupid every wrestlers has 4 to 5 moves of their own basic wrestling moves and rest holds don't count
Quick question. Was there anything in this match that looked remotely fake? For my money, the fakest thing was Roman running the ropes.
Lesnar does not run ropes and he doesn't do Irish whips. He doesn't do chops, he doesn't do torture racks and he doesn't do those insipid sleeper rest holds.
Nothing in Lesnar match looks fake.
Make it a 4 Way with Kevin Nash
Jim: "Brock never did anything silly in the ring."
Kurt Angle: 👀
I’m pretty sure the injury started with the barricade spot. It looked like all of Brock’s weight landed on that arm when they fell. He immediately ran back in the ring to talk to the ref and feel his shoulder. I’m also not sure how Brock also injured himself mid way through the match. But the match itself was boring, nothing new from both of them lol, for something that was heavily advertised you’d expect maybe a completely different match.
Match aside, props to Roman for finishing with how bad his arm/shoulder looked.
Oh boo hoo his shoulder popped out just pop that puppy back in place like many wrestlers and athletes do

Roman Reigns spent the first 8 years of his career WEARING A SHIRT. Think about that when you try to understand why it took so long for him to be elevated in the eyes of the fans. We have seen this match at Mania 31 in San Francisco.
We saw it at Mania 34 in New Orleans.
We saw it a few more times that year...Saudi Show, Summerslam, think there was a multi man match.
Saw it again last year in Saudi Arabia and almost saw it at Day 1.
Mania 38...was like the 6th match between them. They went with the finisher spam match style. Their best match was their first one at Mania 31. Suplex City was born but now it's overused.
Reigns is a better character than before, but it seems they have spent so much time to build him and forgot to build anyone else. They have nobody else.
And building the character did nothing to help the actual match.... which was not good by any stretch of the definition.

People have seen Roman and Brock wrestle the same goddamn match like 7 times before. Only E-drones were "excited" for this match. Judging by the comment/tweet ratio for Roman/Brock compared to the rest of the WM cards, this did not have a lot of engagement even among the E-drones. The match didn't even trend.
I'll just say that I'm sick of the spear through the barricade, it's a spot we've seen over and over again and it's not special anymore

im sure many have corrected it already, but the Mania in SF was the one Rollins cashed in and won in their main event.. the one he was thinking about was in New Orleans when it was a finisher fiesta exactly like this match, it just went longer and Roman took more of a pounding...
☝🏾Match definitely didn't deliver in ring which could be because of injury but the magnitude of both men definitely warranted the main event. Also given the amount of entertainment and length of the show this ended up being what it probably should be. It's definition of a WrestleMania spectacle. Heyman was great as always.
Superman punch and spears beat lesner ? Guess lesner don't want to be full time champ
They could work it with Roman going on holiday to Samoa to celebrate, when he probably stays in a hospital in Birmingham Alabama and uses a green screen 😆
I genuinely liked that the match wasn't as long as it could have been (or *should* have been if the reports of Roman's injury are true). I know it's the main event of Wrestlemania and all but not every match needs to be 30-40 minutes of slowly whittling one another down, sometimes you just need two massive hosses beating the tar out of each other and ending it quickly.

The build-up was incredible, that was what sold the match. The match itself was good, like all their matches are, the problem is they are all so similar. They've never been able to surpass their first match at Wrestlemania 31, which was phenomenal, because going in we had no idea what to expect, & everything was fresh, and then you had the amazing twist ending of Seth cashing in and stealing the title out from under these two gladiators who had beaten each other bloody. That was good shit. Since then there hasn't been anything new...except for the incredibly entertaining build-up to this match, which was so interesting and different that it made everyone forget that we already knew what the match itself would look like. Maybe they had a few more spots planned but had to cut the match short due to Roman's shoulder, but it likely wouldn't have added too much. Maybe the finish wouldn't have felt quite so abrupt had the injury not happened, we"'ll never know. Bottom line is their rivalry is now officially over, or it should be. And that is coming from someone who considers Brock & Roman my two favorite pro wrestlers in the world for the last few years at least.
The problem with this Mania despite its high points is all the involvement of nostalgia acts and part timers and celebrities, overall this card and the good matches aren't indicative of what we've been getting on your average raw and smackdown. Most of the shows leading to this for me were a chore to sit through especially raw which always feels excruciatingly long. Whats the great angle coming out of Mania, Priest allying with Edge? Sure isn't 76 year old Vince botching a stunner, thats just more hot shotting that doesn't put any current active talent over. Cody gives them a boost for new matchups, but what next years Mania looks like I have no idea, and I have no interest in watching another dominant year for Reigns.

Brock’s matches are far too repetitive. Suplexes, finishers, kick out, more finishers, more kick outs, ends flat on a finish that has been done three times already.
Agreed. Same with Reigns and his 2 moves of doom
@@EliC09 The thing is, I don't mind if they spam a finisher but only if they can't get the win due to shenanigans. Rope break, roll out, distraction, ref bump, etc. But spamming the same move over and over and only getting a 2 count each time is not only boring but nonsensical.
they couldve added some the most simplest spots but decided to spam the same damn moves
I looked at Brock's match history since coming back to WWE and he hasn't ever even went over the 18 minute mark thus far. Literally gets paid 10M+ per year to be the laziest main eventer in modern WWE. I mean, I really enjoyed his face turn and thought the build to the WM main event was great... but man what a fucking disappointment by both guys. They should honestly be ashamed of their performance for what was touted "The BIGGEST match in WM history". Not that Brock cares, he's busy laughing his way to the bank with Vince's money.
Not the biggest on wrestling but this guy really won me over
Whaatt? This is the first time I've heard anyone say they wanted to see this match at Wrestlemania.
I think what could maybe have popped the shoulder out was the failed spear on Lesnar's back. Obviously you can't hit the spine full on (not if you want the guy etaking the move ever walking again) so I think Roman improvised and got hurt that way.
Also, what was a really nice touch, was Heyman's dirty hand pushing the rope forward for Roman to grab... And Corey Graves afterwards was like "I didn't even see it!"🤣
Kimura as the young folks call it? It’s been called that since the 1950’s in parts of the world when Masahiko Kimura beat Helio Gracie with the gyaku ude-garami. With Kimura also having a pro wrestling history I figured Jim would’ve known that.
The match did feel a little bit like I'd seen it before, but I think they might have just been getting started, given the build and the commentators' foreshadowing that "these two could go for 45 minutes." I believe they had a lot more planned in terms of new spots we hadn't seen the two of them do before, but Roman's shoulder forced them to skip to the finish since he likely couldn't execute a lot of what was planned.
I wish they had something like their match at crown jewel, that was a great match
More Germans than Hogan's Heroes.
It makes more sense for Roman Reigns to be the undisputed champion. First he is young and future of this industry. Unlike Brock lesnar he is a full timer. There's no one apart from him in wwe who deserves to get that mega push.
Yeah no shit, but it's about putting out a performance that can justify that push. You have to earn it, like AJ Styles and Bryan Danielson once said. He's been pushed to the moon... since years now. If he's just gonna be a two move pony, then naturally one's investment in the match goes away. It's the same old shit everytime! It gets stale quickly.
@@astrobiojoe7283 I lost interest in Roman Reigns a while ago.
@@bighand1530 He's improved a lot promo-wise, has a banger theme and stable. But his performances are boring and predictable. I don't understand it why some loons say he's the only guy lmao. When you say that, automatically it's understood that other guys are just there to be fed. It kills the interest in the titles and the feud. They don't realize how bad putting all your eggs in one basket is in the long term.
@@astrobiojoe7283 And often times, looks like he can’t win unless the Usos are around. Not just Roman Reigns, but I lost a good chunk of interest in WWE(particularly SmackDown) thanks to it becoming the Roman Reigns show
Drew mcintyre deserves that push the man got us through the covid era give him some respect and give him his dues ! Man destroyed brock quicker than roman ever could but no one even mentions it ? Imagine the pop he would have got if there were fans in the building. He needs a huge push he deserves it more than anyone else on the Current roster !!! Facts.
"People are going to say 'I've seen this movie before'".
-Jay Lethal, on his rematch with Jay Briscoe.
The ending to this match, was probably the worst ending of any Wrestlemania match ever .
Cena vs. Miz at Mania 27? At least, that match was quite decent, until the end where Miz suffered a concussion.
This is a great position for Reigns to brag about though:
"I defeated Brock Lesnar with a dislocated shoulder."
"And not only did I do that but I unified the two greatest championships in WWE history while doing so!"
The match doesn't have to be great as long as Roman uses the injury as bragging rights
Still worst move set in wrestling history
to be fair, though, when I watch back some of the older championship matches it was mostly a 3-move deal too.... As far as movesets go...
@@spinofthewheel5345 agreed. He can’t wrestle
I wasn't looking forward to that match, we've seen it already, it wasn't nothing to ride home about. Plus, to add insult to injury, Brock injured another opponent(like he did Bobby Lashley), so...Yeah...I hope those who wanted that match, are happy, now🤷🏿♂️
It all makes sense now. Reigns hurt his should on the spear through the barricade. They called an audible. Lesnar then put him in the submission, making it seem like Lesnar popped his shoulder out. Reigns is telling Heyman he can’t go, because “it’s out”. Heyman implores his “Tribal chief” to keep going, and they go home early.
The match sucked before the spot so not an excuse and the injury ain’t that serious so hush boy
The build up might have been so good that the match couldn’t live up to our expectations. Belts wise, I’d love to see them bring the big gold belt back
They don’t even know Roman and Brock fought in October at Crown Jewel, that major part of the feud was just completely ignored here smh. At least they should do the research so they know the context of what the hell they’re discussing. Mixing up cities and Wrestlemania they fought too lol.
Cry some more
i felt like ive seen this match 10 times
rewatched the main event. felt flat live, watching the replay, it was actually pretty good. at least I thought so.
it was dog shit
this match sucked...
Popping out the shoulder absolutely sucks. Good news could be that depending on the type of dislocation, he will deal with pain but likely will be fine continuing in ring without any time off needed.
I swear the spear through the barricades are so overused by the big guys these days.
0:42 was this match really a draw? I was least bit interested in it. We already knew who was gonna win.
I think so many people seemed excited about this match specifically the Brock lesnar new character
You've seen this match literally 10 times and this is the 3rd WrestleMania they have wrestled together. You feel like you've seen it before because you have and at this point they have no new people to be in the main event scene because they keep letting new people go when they hit the main roster. It was a normal, generic, predictable, main event that WWE brings you every single time. Yawn. They really gotta spice things up with Roman. This whole I can't be beat ever thing is super lame. Every match, every PPV is predictable as hell. I honestly don't get why sooo many people buy the PPVs. Cena was the face of the company but he'd still lose here and there. Austin and the Rock would lose and win and win and lose. Last "face of the company" who couldn't be beat ever was hulk Hogan and everyone hated him for it. The whole "Roman doesn't lose clean.... Or at all... Brother" thing has gotta stop. You know they won't use him finally losing to put over some new young superstar (you'd hope to see Gable Steveson or Bron Breaker take him down) but my bet is itl be someone like Seth Rollins or something lame because that's WWEs go to move, be lame
So true. Seeing people trying to convince themselves in the comments that this match was good is hilarious. This year's WM was much better than last year's and had some standout moments, but like you said, now they're back to their boring weekly shows. RAW was alright but Smackdown was probably one of the most boring fucking shows I've seen in awhile. So I'm back to not watching WWE anymore, it's truly shit content done over and over again. Outside of Cody and Rex Steiner I don't really check for anything else WWE related... The fact they ended RAW with saying that "Roman has a HUGE announcement on Smackdown" then for Roman to announce that he "wants the Usos to unite the tag titles" was so god damn boring, I truly don't know what people enjoy from this garbage.
"They think they want to see it more than they actually do when they see it." Hogan vs. Rock.
I could probably-If he would ALLOW me to apply it to him 😂
Fucking Cornette is hilarious
Sucks that Roman got hurt. The match really looked like it was about to get into it's second gear when they went to the finish.
Second gear? They always do the exact same things, that wouldn't have changed with 5 more minutes
@@nebraskajoenelson8987 There was supposed to be blood in the match 👍 For weeks they had both Reigns and Lesnar talk about spilling each other's blood 🩸. The problem was that they couldn't get to that point because Reigns' shoulder popped out. So they immediately rushed to the finish of the match😒 . You could see that the ending was not supposed to go that way. Even after the match you clearly see the swelling on Reigns' tricep and shoulder and a lump also👍. That's why on Raw this week NOTHING happened with Reigns because they don't know yet how hurt he is . They don't want to start a new feud then he can't finish it. Or have him relinquish the titles only to return quickly in a matter of couple months.
@@SS-tg8lf I don't doubt he got hurt and that the finish was rushed, I do however doubt that anything would have been different than the same things they always do. Their were some solid moments over the weekend, but a few good spots doesn't erase how awful WWE has been for 10+ years of storytelling
@@SS-tg8lf got proof? Source?
That match was boring and it sucked
Roman Reigns is such a boring predictable wrestler.
I have to disagree. His matches don’t have 75 flips and 60 superkicks in them, which makes Roman’s matches easier on the eyes than most modern wrestlers.
Roman is so boring cancer never kills him.
@@nocontextpoppapump He has double that number in spears and duperman punches though. its all he does through out the whole match every match.
@@nocontextpoppapump I can agree. There are wrestlers who I find even more boring than Roman Reigns
@@kingcoon4038 It’s ridiculous
There should be a segment on Raw called “Heyman’s Melon.” He’s becoming Larry Bud Melman.
The match was okay. Good but not great. I think this match was more about getting it back to one belt rather than having to world championships. And I hope they do the same with the women’s and ptag titles as well.
Cain Velasquez will always be the best heavy weight for beating Brock at his prime lol
Brock mma is trash
Brock really never had a prime in UFC. Diverticulitis took care of that.
@@anthonyanderson9303 Cap he was trash
@@elpincheponch1957 lol trash. Guy with basically no MMA experience won the ufc heavyweight title in his 4th career fight and did so without a stand up game whatsoever.
This was the worst match I've seen in awhile. Roman reigns is boring .
The frog is killing me lol
It hasn't been 20 years since Vince was in ring with Austin. Austin appeared on the 25th anniversary on raw a few years back
Can’t watch a Roman reigns match it’s just to painful
Two Wrestlemania nights is a good business move and they will continue doing it. The fans loved it too. It's like the NBA All-star Weekend sort of show. The problem is that majority of WWE roster has no direction at all. McAfee, Logan, Steve Austin received huge crowd reaction and obviously they are not part of the regular roster. The proof is in tuning in Monday Night Raw and once again watching 3 hours of dry content. This is almost as bad as WCW booking when they used to squeeze way too much into a one week.
well put. totally agree 👍
