    This deck list caused a great deal of pain to many opposing players at my local shops. Thanks for the video, Joe.

    I just wanna say thank you for making this video. Im a huge fan of yours cuz our names are the same and we’re both from Mass. I live in Florida now near Tampa. I reached out to you on Facebook shortly after you top’d this event and you actually responded back to me which I thought was the coolest thing ever, which I’ll never forget.

    This Hero deck set the standard for skill drain heros moving forward. So many people copied this list and had reasonable success with it. Few players can say they defined an archetype the way this profile shaped hero decks during this time. Great video.

      I appreciate that. This was absolutely influenced from other deckbuilders though.

    This is the deck that basically got me hooked on competitive yugioh (followed by bubblebeat). So thank you for getting me addicted to this game Joe

    This is such a special video. I remember reading the coverage and remember seeing your name and decklist in the top decks list. I feel some weird sense of pride watching your video today.
    Btw, I was the one who mentioned it would be great to see you play Edison format on another video. Looking forward to it.

      Gabe Perez was the other player to make Top 4 and he was playing Piper Chaos.
      Wilson Tsang made Top 8 with his Horn of the Phantom Beast beatdown deck that sided into Wind-Ups.

    Between inzektor, dark world, GK, etc you should have run 3 shadow mirror, that might've given you the win. I could easily see cutting smashing or chalice for another

    I alternated between a modified version of your list and Electrum OTK until Dragon Rulers came out. Super Poly was the MVP. If only Escuridao had come out a little earlier...

  • @tylerpoe8628
    @tylerpoe8628 Před 2 lety

    Why no Upstart Goblin (3) or Honest (1)? I’m assuming just no room for upstart and honest was only good when you had a monster but even then it could be easily played around? Idk just curious your thought on that. I’m looking to take this deck to a September 2011 format so I’d play trap Dustshoot over second TT and debating if something like call off the haunted would be nice

    • @YGOHistory
      @YGOHistory  Před 2 lety +1

      So... I decided against cards like Honest because it relies so heavily on other cards. This deck has enough of those (Spark, Blast, etc). This was also a bit before the time of Upstart being a borderline staple. I also would argue the need to "beatdown" before combo decks went off might make the 1K life more meaningful than maybe other decks.
