Hello, thank you for posting this. I just acquired my 07 RE 500. I am here basically for info you have posted. My bike basically sat for the past 13 years. I did clean the carb but it will run only with the enricher fully applied. If i turn the enricher off and try to work the throttle to keep it running it stalls. I am unsure if the previous owner didn't move the needle clip or what is standard needle clip position on these bikes.
@@hotoilhandsWell it started around 11 pm last night ... I had to keep the garage door down due to noise while inhaling a lot of exhaust fumes 😆...probably killed some brain cells . Anywho...as i am troubleshooting this thing - What in your experience should needle clip position be to start with? The bike is basically new ( ~260 miles on the clock). Previous owner mentioned his friend was in the carb years ago - thus my question.
Hi Tom. I'm sorry, I haven't checked my emails for some time so am just seeing this now. Are you still experiencing this problem? I have some suggestions if so.

Soo it has gotten worse i think 😆 because in the process of adjusting and coughing back - the sprag locked up....well i know this because kicker and the motor want to turn the starter motor now...😂😂😂. Well one thing at the time. I just removed the starter motor and continued with adjustments. I now have a new free flowing header, muffler, removed air injection. I have installed Hitchcock's recommended jet kit to my mikarb vm28 - but still no ability to transition from enricher circuit to pilot idle jet or needle jet or main jet. I kept dropping the needle but this did not work i will now rise the needle - see if this work but i honestly think this Mikarb is just junk?
Yo man thank for make a video of this carb. I got the same carb on my Bullet 500 cc 2000 model. But I mest up a bit I did tight both the air and petrol. Not I do not know how much I have to turn it out. Can u help me pls
Ooops, I meant to add this. Start by screwing the throttle cable adjustment all the way down into the top of the carb. That'll give you slack on the throttle cable which is fine since you first need to set up the idle. Next before starting the engine, screw the air screw in all the way, be gentle and don't screw it in hard. Then turn counter clockwise 1 to 1.5 turns. That's a good starring point for the idle circuit. Then with the larger throttle slide screw turn it counter clockwise until it is unscrewed, then at that point turn it back in 6 to 7 turns. This should be good enough settings to get the engine running, you may need to give it just the slightest bit of twist on the throttle to open the slide until the engine is warm and idles by itself. All this assumes the carb is clean, passages not plugged, and the air filter is decently clean too. Let us know how you do.

Hi Labh preet. Do you mean the throttle screw on the side of the carbuerator? Or throttle cable adjustment on top of the carb? Let me know and I'll do a quick video for you. Was there anything in this video you needed better explained or demonstrated?

Is there a blockoff plate available if I decided to remove the starter permanently?
