    This is exactly how my dad and all the vaqueros broke horses . I’m from south Texas so we had Mexican cowboys working on the ranch every day. Wicked good horsemen. Thanks for the video.

    Horses are indeed horses; we need to remember to work with them where they're at today, not necessarily where they were yesterday nor where we'll want them to be tomorrow.
    BTW, that's a notional colt there! 😅

    I always figure the good one buck at the begging. I've had a couple that wouldn't buck at all getting saddled the first time and nothing phased them ,but those are the ones a month into it that blow big time when you have a job to do. I love that big round pen for starting colts.

    good deep footing to both cushion and wear 'em down a bit. I've seen colts started in deep water and fresh plowed fields to same effect. I always like the young ones 'cause you can wear them down a bit and it's easier to unbalance them if they get silly. Nice QH lines you're working with and it shows in their movements and their thinking. Great job!

    I'm from around Charleston but moved out to NM to cowboy yrs ago and wish the mustangs I broke were this docile. Only time I was in a saddle was at the end of a long line

Anyway I like how your patient with your horses and don’t push them to far,your also very kind to then as well,keep up the good work,I like the method you use and are very calm around them,with all the horses you train and care for,even though they probably annoy you,you stay very calm and don’t get frustrated

      I don't know any cowboys who lunge their horses before they get to work'n cows, I want my horses to save their energy for the cows so why would I want to wear them out in the morning when I NEED them to be able to work all day.

    Did you ever wonder how much they learn from another horse , like in nature. I think it is great to have another horse being rode with him to help them see hea I'm doing this it aint bad !!

    14:06 chet is he ok. What I do I spin them a little for them to get a little dizzy and then I get on en jerk there head to the side his a pretty though cowboy there to get on like that he earns credit

    I'd would let Hunter put a set of front hobbles on Smart Toe..he has a little snake in him.
    After all these years of training I like a horse with a little shit in his neck.They usually have a bigger heart and alot of bottom to them.
    But I hate a kicking SOB.or one that bites.

    How high are most of your horses?
    I am looking for a stock horse at the moment (living in australia) and they all seem to be on the smaller side (14 to 14.2hh).

      Personally I prefer mine to be between 14.2 and 15.1 hands. Anything outside of that range I consider to be too small or too big, but there certainly are exceptions...

    I got a gelding with perfect ground manners, but in the saddle, after 30 minutes, he just suddenly starts bucking his butt off!
    Any suggestions?

    If your horse is fighting against you just know it takes two to fight but one to find a better way.
    Natural horsemanship is the best training method out there. 🤐
