Feta cheese has never been high on my "must have", "needs must" list.
Gabriel, would it be rude to ask for a Greek salad without Feta cheese?
Also, if you food arrived cold, please ask that it be reheated / warmed up. Doing so is NOT rude, I know. If you are paying for a main course which you have always been led to believe will be hot, then ... well, it should be hot!

What really gets me about the Greek islands is that every single one seems like it’s own little world. It’s own little paradise far from the chaos and the crime and the stormy political arena that seems to have plagued the western world in recent years (mainly the US) And every island reminds you that there is still great beauty and tranquility to be found on this crazy planet of ours. Another great video Gabe keep ‘em comin!

Hey Gabriel! Not sure if you read my comment in the previous video but just in case you should check the island of Lesbos or Mytilene on North Aegean Sea. It’s the third biggest island, many castles including the biggest on all of Mediterranean, has the petrified forest, a unesco geopark, mountains, beaches, villages that would look like the villages in Italy, monasteries that people from all over Greece come and the best, it’s cheap. Because thankfully not so many tourists from other countries visit it the prices are really affordable and more cheap. Would love to see a trip over there in the future!

They had quit good fish (Octopus, Calamaris and Gavros) for reasonable prices at that time. I heard now about a study by the greek TV station ERT. Referring to them 50% of thee Greeks will suspend holidays this year. 42% of the people who will go into holidays will cook by themself. All of them want to spent less money this year. So my fear the Tourists will pay ''the gap'' this year. 💸💰💲

Greece, for EU European Standards, is still quite affordable, although prices seem to have spiked up a little this year for some Food Products, which reflects in some of the prices. It also depends on the island too of course! 👍🏻

The name Arvanítika and its native equivalent Arbërisht[6] are derived from the ethnonym Arvanites, which in turn comes from the toponym Arbëna (Greek: Άρβανα), which in the Middle Ages referred to a region in what is today Albania
Arvanitika was brought to southern Greece during the late Middle Ages by settlers from what is today Albania. Arvanitika is also closely related to Arbëresh, the dialect of Albanian in Italy, which largely goes back to Arvanite settlers from Greece.

Thanks for pointing that out! Yes, Medieval times had albanian speakers named arvanites come down in the late middle ages & settle in this island chain and a few other places in Southern Greece. It’s important to note, that these were Christian Roman Citizens that along with the Greeks opposed the muslim turks. The Albanians of Albania became majority muslim & were the turks henchmen, usually persecuting the Christian Populations. When the Independence War began the Arvanites fought alongside the Greeks & considered themselves Greeks as well! They never made up more than 15% of the total population of the initial Greek State that was freed, and once more provinces were freed in the North & in the Aegean areas, their numbers dropped to less than 5% of the total population. They have mixed with the Greeks & have become an integral part of the Greek Societies & are proud of their Hellenic Roman Orthodox Christian Heritage & identify as Greeks today! Hope that adds some context to this! 👍🏻

Well thanks mate for "adding context" to this 😂, really what you did was a mish mash of random information that made no sense to my comment and you were wrong on a lot.
First of all they were not "Roman Christian citizens". They were the Albanians that had put up some serious resistance, especially under the League of Lezhe(Skenderbegs league). After the league broke up a lot of people left beacuse they did not want to be ruled by the ottomans. The Albanians fought the Ottomans from the first till the last second, even though many "became muslims" many were not really muslims but pretended to be because the ottomans were extra harsch on the Albanians because of all the wars they waged against the ottomans.
Yes they was a lot of Albanians in the ottomans ranka, just as there was lots of Greeks etc etc. But for me they are traitors. Where is the Greek resistance from 1400 to 1800? ?? Tell me one battle against the ottomans?Anyway.... we went really off topic 😂.
The Arvanites Albanians , lets just call them what they are atleast in Origin/Ethnically. What they identify as today is up to them doesnt matter. What their numbers are are really hard to tell because of the forced assimilating but alot of eldens speak the language, hope its preserved atleast.
      Thanks, kind regards brother.

Im sorry, but I have studied the subject extensively!
You are WRONG, the majority of Arvanites arrived into Greece Proper EARLIER than the time of Georgios Kastriotis, in the late 13th Century! This is well documented.
There is a major difference in Philosophy here, the Greeks that became muslims either through forced conversions, willing conversions, or through the Janissary Programs were turkified, they were NEVER AGAIN considered Greeks, for the most part. That explains the great number of Hellenic genetics found in todays turks, especially in the Western Coasts of Anatolia! The flow of genetics went one way, and Muslims could not have relations with Christian Populations.
Unfortunately for the Albanians, you are still a Majority Muslim Nation. 57% Sunni Muslims & 2% Bektashi Muslims (A form of Shia Islam). It is estimated that by 2030 your nation will be 83% muslim.
The reason for this is because the Albanians mass converted & became the ottoman turks main Henchmen to suppress the Christian People in the region. That is why you see so many Albanians with names like Murati, Ibrahimi, etc etc…no Greeks have those names outside of the Muslim Community left behind in Thrace in accordance with the Treaty of Lausanne.
The Arvanites were Orthodox Christians, former Roman Citizens, and many of them were Bilingual & spoke both Greek & their mixed form of Albanian (Albanian has up to 90% Loan Words, so it’s hard to say what is actually Albanian, with the majority of the Lexicon being of Latin ultimate origin with a lot of Greek words as well).
Its a bit of an unfair question to ask about a strong Greek resistance against the Ottomans when their Main Power-Base was in Constantinople & the fact that they had been fighting the seljuks since at least the late 11th Century, and many more nomadic turkic states (amongst many others) for the greater part of a Millenia, but I’ll play ball with you..😃
From 1453, the Greeks took up arms against the Ottomans 123 separate times before 1821. The first major resistance was the Battle of Trapezounta in 1461. The mixed Hellenic Rump State known as the Principality of Teodoro fell in 1475 (to an albanian ottoman). You said 1400 tho, so we can include: The Siege of the Constantinople in 1394. Manuel II called for a Crusade, which was defeated at Nicopolis in 1396 (mind you that this is on the Byzantine Greek Worlds Deathbed after the Crippling 4th Crusade) & the Byzantines are pulling ALL of the Empires Resources, including most of the Hellenic Manpower available since Byzantium had been reduced to the Hellenic Speaking Regions the last couple hundred Years at this point. There was also the Siege of Thessalonika in 1424, and of course the Final Siege of Constantinople in 1453 with a few more skirmishes in between.
Here are more Greek attempts (some just Greeks, some along with the Orthodox Arvanites, some with the Venetians or other allies) to free Greece from the Ottomans:
1457 - 1472: Uprising in Mani in 1457 of Greeks against Turks by Bessarion.

      • 1565: Greek revolutionary attempt in Epirus in 1565.
      • 1571: After the naval battle of Nafpaktos, the Greeks in many places took courage and revolted with the instigation of the Western powers. But the West did not offer substantial help and the rebellions were defeated in a few months. Uprisings in 1571 took place in Epirus, Macedonia (Chalkidiki, Serres, Thessaloniki, Ahrida, Blatsi, Katranitsa) and in the southwestern Peloponnese by the Melissani Makarios Metropolitan of Monemvasia and his brother Theodoros). Massacres followed in Parnassis, Macedonia, Peloponnese, Athos and the islands. A revolution also took place in Patras under the leadership of Old Patras Germanos I and others.

      • 1808: Greek revolutionary attempt of 1808 by the Popes: Eufthimios Vlachavas, Theodoros Vlachavas and Dimitrios Vlachos, Nicotsara, and the Lazaians.
      • 1821 - 1828 or 1830: Greek Revolution of 1821.
^^^Those are just SOME of the 123 DOCUMENTED Uprisings in 370 Years (Overall Average) of Occupation.
The Arvanites NEVER made up more than 15% of the population of Greece, and as the Greeks recovered more of their Ancestral territories, that number dwindled down to less than 5%. Perhaps 200,000 Greeks today have some form of Arvanite Heritage, but regardless, they fought for Greece & the majority of their Battles were against people that they THEMSELVES referred to as: turkalbanians, the muslim albanians that constitute the people of your nation. This is what ALL their Memoirs tell us! Like Markos Botsaris who made the first Greek-Arvanite Dictionary, his Biography says:
".. Our enemies are the Albanians .."
      On page: 35, he says:
".. Hellenic blood runs in our veins .."
      It also says, that:
".. If I Die, I want go to find Leonidas with the 300 Spartans on the Elysian Fields .."
      -Markos Botsaris
      [Biography of Markos Botsaris]
Theodoros Kolokotronis, who WAS NOT an Arvanite, also said that he built Pyramid Towers with albanian Heads & referred to the albanians as turkalbanians, as did all the other Greek Revolutionary Heroes. Again, there were the majority muslims that constitute your nation today.
So what exactly are you trying to say here & what do you not understand? Stop reading these Myths they teach you in albania. Did you know that even the albanian Muslim (Lapdog) Ali Pasha wanted to create his own state break off from the Ottomans, & that his plan was to make Greek the Official Language….because the majority of his subjects under his control were Greeks that spoke Greek?
Let me know what else you would like to learn….I am here 😃
