- Yes it's 36 not 32 CU's on PS5.
People must understand the Zen 2 Architecture in the PS5 and XBOX Series X is unlike anything we've had before in our consoles. More importantly, the progression of graphics engines and why Sony quite literally DOUBLED the storage data transfer speeds. PS5 and XBOX Fanboys spare me the drama, I'm looking at this as unbiased as possible based on the information we've been given.
Needless to say both the Xbox Series X and Playstation 5 will be powerful and create an amazing gaming experience for years to come but...one is going to be most certainly be more powerful than the other. This video covers my expectations for the PS5 and XBOX Series X launch models. Rest assured both XBOX and Sony WILL HAVE IMPROVED PERFORMANCE VARIATIONS of these consoles at a higher price point in the future...of this I have no doubt. Also for all the people complaining on how Sony hasn't released the official PS5 design don't worry. This is methodical from Sony and they have done this over the course of their major releases. Sony wants to establish whats in the system, why it's important, and what makes their design and architecture special before releasing the final design concept for the box. Not going to exaggerate on this because the XBOX design is going to stay very cool with their new layout.
Please leave your thoughts below on these two new Consoles coming out. This overview intentionally didn't focus on going TOO IN DEPTH, as the majority wouldn't understand the implications on Domain Specific Accelerators for Graphics Engines performance upgrades. So hopefully I covered this topic with as little boring spec pain as possible.

lets not complain about the console pricing, especially at this performance level (allegedly)
A Samsung s20 is more powerfull than some a lot of laptops and can fit in a pocket, plus they have a professional grade camera and a 120hz 1440p display. Smartphones are something else, they are 10 times more futuristic than consoles, they shouldn't cost less

The real test is if these consoles can load GTA V in under 15 seconds?
Well can pc ?
I'm pretty sure the ps5 ssd is made to be fast so the ps5 should be able to.
@@nullifying2749 Yeah but I think Gta 6 will be a different story xD
Just wait till gta 6 that game is gonna be so big that it’s going to be basically the same load times as gta v
@@ilyes_k9 my pc with a 5gbs ssd loads it in about 15 seconds more or less(haven't timed it. Just going by feeling) I deleted the game and I don't want to redownload a 90gb game again so sorry I can't time it. Once they're optimised for fast ssd's it should be faster
Sony - We did it in .25 seconds.
Xbox - We did it in .42 seconds.
User - I can’t tell the difference.
Fanboys - Arguing over nothing (as usual)
I do hope the SSD's in the end will do a little more than... just improve loading times (if I interpret your point correctly).
Not sure how developers will pick this up, but Im fairly sure Epic's tech demo and the future of Unreal will do slightly more.
But for sure .. fanboys will argue for the sake or arguing. Now it will be load times vs framerate or something. 120 FPS vs 60! While I definitely like 60, to be really honest tons of games (rpgs, adventure, etc.) are already fine at 30. Just make sure its stable. Fighting, racing, shooters -> definitely 60.
Yea both consoles are going to be extremely solid upgrades for the price. I mean it's already been shown that the Xbox Velocity Architecture offsets the gap in throughput. I think it's safe to say both machines are going to be pretty close performance wise. Wish everyone would just be happy that 30fps should be a distance memory come fall/winter!
actually you are going to notice it no matter what. Otherwise why use 120fps when 30 fps? Plus it's not about loading screen at all.
Honestly I don't care if the loading times are same as this generation as lock as they can play locked 60fps gameplay.
We just wanna research before we buy, we are not all fanboys
I don’t really know what any of these numbers actually mean so I guess I’ll get whatever all my friends get lol

Dude, you just explained and simplified everything so beautifully. So much better than most people online, very good job.
Indeed. The only thing he and most people miss is the custom 3D audio hardware! XSX will HAVE TO use a decent amount of CPU clock cycles JUST for convolution reverb calculations. In the PS5, it won't take ANY CPU resources. And, that is just ONE audio technique. To have 3D audio processing for EVERY game sound, it could take SEVERAL Zen 2 CPU cores.
In other words, the XSX developers will have to CHOOSE to have great 3D audio OR process game logic. You know which the developers will choose. The PS5 can have BOTH, since the custom audio hardware handles HUNDREDS of 3D audio sources (Dolby Atmos only handles 32 3D audio sources). That, ALONE, is huge.

I really wished that people did their homework about all the custom tech within both and all the beautiful games we will get no matter our preference. I am a PS guy but it doesn't make me anti Xbox. The AMD tech in the PS5 has been customised by Sony which won't be anywhere and if adopted by PC systems, it'll be thanks to Cerny and the team. Also, watching "The Road to PS5" again without me expecting the world, it actually is impressive as to all the customisation that is under the hood and not found on the other (I suppose it goes for MS owned DX12 too on the X). If we go by numbers, which many gamers do, that is where the problem lies. It is like sheep leading sheep. It is better or even best to listen to all the devs and game engine creators when it comes to what we can expect.
I Love my PS' and I also salute the X for what they are doing. No matter our systems, we should all be celebrating the fact we are getting high performing beasts on both sides. At the end of the day we are gamers right?

U right and I totally agree with that. Its just that Amd cpu's dont do as good as intel. However both of them have Amd cpus so rip.
You didnt consider the fact that the PS5 will have to balance the power of the CPU and GPU according to thermal and power output limitations. The XSX on the other hand has fixed clocks for everything. I think XSX has the better overall hardware just because its balanced. And also ray tracing will be the future which will be very much in Microsoft's court.
Thank You! You're the only comment so far that stated this fact!

I agree
There’s a difference between memory and storage. Talking about the differences in the console SSDs in terms of “memory” is misinterpreting the quote from the AMD engineer. Speed of communication is more directly related to the DDR6 memory bandwidth than the SSD throughput.
Cache is memory, ram is memory. The SSD is storage. It can be used as virtual memory, just like windows has done for decades with platter based drives.
Having a faster SSD will allow you to swap in textures to and from the SSD and memory faster. But the GPU computational power and the ram speed are the largest determinants to the resolution and frame rates that are output.

The thing that's constantly forgotten when talking about the PS5 SSD is that since there is nothing else like it on the moderate to lower end of the market pretty much no third party titles will take advantage of it beyond loading.
That 10 teraflops is the high clock of the PS5 as it's clock is variable.
The only way to get the most out of the PS5 would be be to make every multiplat be be tailored for it's SSD and require one on the same level.
The delta between the two is actually massive.
Don't think of 10*2 vs 9*2
Think of 1000,00*2 vs 90,000*2
The higher the numbers get when you multiply the huger the delta. That's what we are looking at with these consoles.
I have zero doubt that PS5 exclusives will be amazing and full of designs and features we've never seen. But when it comes to multiplats it's not even gonna be a competition.
Xbox exclusives will more than likely focus on fidelity and frame rate more than anything.
It's worth remembering that doubling the speed of the SSD in Xbox is only going to halve what will already be a small metric on Xbox.
Half of 2 seconds load time mean only a 1 second difference between the consoles. That's not really a big deal and actually won't mean Sony's first party titles will do things drastically different to the multiplats.
Wait for the first proper 3rd party game on both consoles and see the comparison. You will notice that the performance is effected more by GPU, CPU, RAM speed and then Storage in that order. RAM speed is 10 times the speed of storage. The only place where Storage speed helps is while initial loading of game and quick resume. The actual effect on performance won't be that great. Ofcourse then people who buy PS5 will scream exclusives and close their ears, but intelligent people wait for the first side by side comparisons of the same game.
Like valhalla that is running at 30fps 🤣🤣🤣 Do more damage control
@@kinderjoy278 damage control? That has NOTHING to do with the machines. Its to do with the developers.

Waiting to do any pc upgrades until the price comes out.
It'll be like always: Initially the consoles will have an advantage in terms of price/performance over a PC because of high volume and custom hardware.
Over time components manufacturers bring the non-custom technology to the PC market, prices decrease and eventually even a low-end PC surpasses the current-gen consoles.
Hopefully by that time the next gen comes out ;-)
Nicolai Czempin that would be great if that happen
If someone is going to switch from PlayStation to XBox and vice versa this is great anyway! People are different and can have different opinions about anything! PS for sure is more focused on games with single player campaigns while XBox is more of the online multiplayer! We also know that in general the control of the xbox was more praised than that of the PS, but I think that this will change in this generation, as well as services such as gamepass was also an advantage for the Xbox side and I sincerely hope for considerable improvements on PSNow, however without a doubt what defined the success of PS whether you want it or not, no matter what any fanboy says were the exclusives, something that PS understands very well, games are everything that matters, no matter power, no matter speed in the end the only thing that what matters are games. In relatively similar systems what will make people choose between one or the other will be the exclusive ones!
Alison vargas I agree I am getting a Xbox (till now) it is just annoying watching the Xbox community hating on the Ps community just because they have a SSD + Why would Microsoft pack so much power in the XSX and just now use it! I hope they acyually just forgot about Xbox one and start focusing on XSX!
@@Kai-ww2qm That's a great dude, I'm a PlayStation guy and I'm going to try to stay with PlayStation because of the ecosystem! The only flaw that the Xbox had in my opinion is precisely the lack of exclusive things that I bet will change due to the amount of studios the xbox has acquired. Eventually I would like to buy an Xbox Series X too! We'll see!
@@Kai-ww2qm yes i am ps fan however i seen ps community are more toxics saying xbox ain't got no games, saying the xbox is last gen, lastly get really crazy when an exclusive go to pc
I do like the Xbox better but I can see how the PS5 and Xbox Series X are both great consoles. I like the feel of the Xbox controller a lot better and I still don’t like how the new Ps5 controller has both thumbs sticks on the bottom but I think the new Ps5 controller is pretty good. I won’t be changing sides as I do like the Xbox better but I’ll be interested how many people switch sides
@@tentoricalj-dog1761 I think it is very likely that PlayStation will lose many more players than Xbox considering it has a high chance of Xbox being cheaper! I think there are three things that are essential when buying the console! Price, Games and friends you will probably buy the console that your friends play too!
DUDE!!! The new sleeve - I'm digging it!!
Even though I didn't fully understand all the nerd knowledge (compliment), I think you did a great job at dumbing it down for us that somewhat understand how it all works. Thank you!
bruh he said PCIe Express slots
the e stands for Express already so ur supposed to say PCI express
My brother kept saying this to me lmao
Those 12 Channels on the Ps5, like Damn!! 🤤🤤🤤. Then to learn from this dude ( subbed and liked ) that if you get an expansion card it can buff even more channels?! 🤫. 😬🤯
I don't know what you mean by buffing more channels lol but yes the SSD on PS5 has 12 channels, buying an SSD off the shelves right now with 8 channels and sticking it in PS5 won't buff anything, PS5 games may not even work from it because it has less channels (less speed too). That's why you won't find an SSD for PS5 yet unless you want to spend $2-3k for an SSD alone with 16 channels.
That being said, yeah the expansion cards will be expensive BUT on a positive note YOU have a choice to decide how much SSD space you want... Price points will probably pool between $150-$400 depending how crazy you get. There are companies out there such as ADATA and XPG that will have 7Gb/s cards so keep watch of the markets, compare and decide which you want after Sony give their Certification seal of approval. Prices will drop overtime obviously too. If you cant fund the several hundred for a card then do some sort of layaway or financing plan 😎. Remember you could have some extra cash laying around if you sell to GAMESTOP your ps4/pro.
Very informative.
Awesome video bro 👌🏽hopefully you hit 100k soon and can you do full review of new Alienware 25inch monitor? Btw keep up the good work
But however one thing that “YOU” are missing is that Xbox is fully compatible with older gen games however the ps5 is only backwards compatible with the ps4.
Again I think this falls under personal preference. I have about a dozen PS3 titles and a half dozen PS2 titles, all of which I don't care to play again, ever. However, I do know some people that like to go all nostalgic and play older titles. More power to them, but it's just not me.
one of the thing that xox had to sacrifice for this to happen is that develpoing games for XSX will be more difficult, as they have to code in a old fashoned way of doing it, that's why in the sony presentation that was for DEVELOPERS they show how the architecture of the system is thinked for easy of develop, so the hard work will come with changing up games to the new architechture, and not the other way arround
Shanghaidilly No, on PS5 you’ll get the chance to buy the same game for the 5th time, this time it’s called “The Ultimate Enhanced 4K Edition”
This is by far the best next gen console comparison video I've seen.
Big facts the details and explanation 🎯🙌🏾
Is it because it hides the ugly things about ps5, for example cpu/gpu is unstable or variable.
Just look at the specs
12.155 vs 9.2/10.28 variable TFLOPs 🤣
52 vs 36 compute units
3328 vs 2304 shaders
208 vs 144 TMUs
80 vs 64 Rops
3.8gz vs 3.2/3.5gz cpu variable 😂
320bit vs 256bit bus
560GS vs 448GS bandwidth
15.3m vs 9.4m transistors
The only thing ps5 haves better is the storage speed
2.4gps VS 5.5gbs
Like he says dig dipper 😉😎
I just switched to PC and couldn't care less which one is better. Just saying out of all the videos people do on this topic, Air Bear's is the best
@@salvadorjimenez2994 He actually mentioned most of them, the Tflops , the CUs , memory bandwidth, and the CPUs
Idk where did you get the other specs as they are not official and sony hasn't revealed them yet,
And at the end its all going to be about the games, This gen proved it, and even Nintendo crossed xbox.
Salvador jimenez big xbot guy talking shit again cuz they're angry, stop crying about console war shit decide when they lunch
Good vid bud. If anyone knows the digital foundry channel.they break down each n every part that's been announced.
Dear God,,Thank You ! for dumming it down some.. Some of these other channels just love hearing themselves talk..
Do these 60+ fps specs really matter when MOST people play connect their consoles to a TV capped at 60hz?
So long as these consoles are hitting 60 frames at 1080 or 4K *consistently* then I'm happy.
I bought a gaming screen that goes up to 120 Hz especially for the ps5 this is the first time I buy a screen in my entire life I had a fucking big and heavy tv that goes only up to 60Hz so it’s a big and better change
@@iamtyzed that's awesome! I can't afford a TV like that so I'll be chilling with 60 hz for a long time lol
Samuel M you can get a 165 hz monitor for less that $200 I definitely think it’s a better move to go for the FPS that 4K. The best PCs which will be better than the new ps5 or xbox still struggle on 4K gaming.
Yes because FPS and HZ are different...
Dude if you can spare money buy a 144hz-240hz monitor. Eventhough the xbox/ps5 is probably gonna be capped at 120hz you can use that monitor for future consoles or a future pc. 144hz monitors are gonna be around $180-$300. 240hz are gonna be $400+. From my perspective a 1080p + higher refresh rate is so much better than 4k 60hz at least for smoothness and performance.
Even if Ps5 is faster. You will only see it in their exclusive games. On third party titles, devs will more than likely develop the way they always do.
TheGAMEGENIE101 you've not watched the recent Unreal Engine tech demo?? Unreal Engine is the most popular 3rd party game engine available. They already showed they could take advantage of the SSD and Sony on chip Geometry Engine. So I think 3rd party games will work fine on PS5. Sony just need to work with the Unity 3D devs , to get them up to speed, and pretty much all 3rd party games will run brilliantly on PS5!!
@@TheDomLouis to get them up to speed i see what you did their
Oh xbox such a joke😂 ps5 is wayyyy better
Frosted_ SnowZy21 how?
Yea more likely I’ll probably only get nba, madden and call of duty and the new gta lol
Great vid as always my man!
Thank for the info .
You just take into account the raw specs of both consoles and make a comparison. The Kraken Architecture is a general purpose solution. I have no doubt games will load faster than the Series X, but what Microsoft has with it's Velocity Architecture is a solution that is solely based on asset streaming. The bulk of what games have to deal with is texture data, and the Xbox Series X tackles this head on with it's Darkhorse compression block, that's still in the works, reportedly its 20 - 30%+ more efficient than the Kraken solution.
PS5 will make some great games with it's super fast SSD, but the Xbox Series X is a well balanced powerhouse that has sustainability, speed, and power.
"Darkhorse compression block, that's still in the works, its 50%+ more efficient than the Kraken solution" . No that's not what was said at all . And it's not actually called "Darkhorse".
You're referring to speculation from a 3rd party dev with no details in a twitter conversation with a Microsoft engineer who hasn't confirmed anything. What he actually said is "Some back of the envelope figures:
- Kraken: Reduces the size of a complex non-RDO encoded BC7 format texture (say a normal map) by approx. 20-30%. - BCPack: Approx. 50+% size reduction. Depends on how far MS pushed the tech. Definitely more effective than just Kraken alone."
So it's 50 percent compared to 20 - 30 percent - so actually it's 20 percent or 30 percent better.
To keep things in perspective - this made up theoretical number is in reference to how much smaller certain assets can be made but it's transfer is still dependent on the overall raw speed of the SSD. So the best you could say is that the Series X SSD asset streaming won't be as slow as it appears on paper.
This video has hardly been a deep dive on the ps5 SSD either which has more going on than just it's decompression.
@@twigpoppapump6985 I'll fix that small part.
@@xOwlStriKex Fair enough but the comment on whole is still pretty fallacious. It isn't a reported fact, and the number is totally theoretical.
The SSD on the ps5 doesn't just allow it to load games faster, it will be loading asset data (like textures) more than twice as quickly as the Series X. The BCPack, which is a software solution, allows some assets smaller so can be transferred quicker but that still isn't even a dent in the speed of the ps5s overall asset stream if you do the maths.
You also seem to be calling it Darkhorse by name(?) . You've just misread those tweets there I'm afraid.
The Series X strength lies in it's maximum potential for high resolution graphics and frame rate , especially when upscaling current gen games or using current gen engines where games aren't too memory intensive. It's weakness will become apparent where next generation game engines better utilise asset streaming and memory from the ssd , as unreal engine 5 is already doing.
@@twigpoppapump6985 the ssd wont make it better graphics it just load faster and it be by about 3 to 4 second you cant blow your nose faster then that and ssd will not Improve fps
@@lads_lounge6764 Its not just faster loading. The removed bottle neck will allow the storage to act as RAM.
I am Xbox 360 owner and Xbox One Day One Edition owner. Never owned a PlayStation, ever. So, I don't think I'm biased.
When it comes to I/O, PS5 beats Series X, even if PS5 disables compression.
The raw throughput on PS5 is that high!
A second point. Ask yourself why next-gen consoles have so little RAM. Increase from 8GB to only 16GB. (2×)
Previous gen was 512MB to 8GB. (16×)
Before that 64MB to 512MB (8×).
That is because next gen will be all about "virtual RAM", and therefore SSD and I/O performance.
Data will no longer be loaded into memory and just sit there. If it is not needed in the next couple of frames, it will be purged, and replaced.
For next gen games, loading from the drive will be happening ALL THE TIME, not like it is done in current gen games.
I hope this helps.

Vamavid didn’t understand a single thing you said buh I’m a ps4 owner I lowkey think Xbox is better
@@xdelusionxyt8348 from what I understand so far, The PS5 would be faster than the Series X but could suffer from lower frame rates in cross-platform games at 4K. The Unreal demo for instance had dynamic framerates, where the animation of the bugs, bats and other animation were happening at 30fps while the rest of the game seemed to be at 60. That Unreal demo will work on the Series X and may have higher and consistent frame rates. But I'm not the most technical person.
XdelusionX Yt They both have their strengths but Xbox just has the better console this time
Damn this video was great ...i hope it gets more exposure...
The PS5 also features a dedicated sound processing chip to feature virtual 3d audio. It's intensive audio processing which also isn't eating away from the main graphics processing... not sure if the XBOX has dedicated sound hardware or runs that on the CPU?
Xbox already have 3d sound.
This video is incredibly intellectually disingenuous.
GB/s = Gigabytes per second and refers to the speed of data storage (memory) transfer.
Gb/s => Gigabits per second refers to the rate of bits or data transferring over a network.
It’s 36 CUs = 2.23 GHz for the PS5
Well I mean... Gb could be used for storage speeds... just x8 the number (It would be stupid, yes)
Well, it probably feels disingenuous because the video is a total rip off of the "AMD's Checkmate
" video made by "Coreteks". He even recycled the quotes from there. SMH
Nice vid!!!
I love these videos that explain everything like school but interesting because it's about gaming consoles.
I know a load of people that have sold their gaming PC's just to get one of these .. These consoles aint messing around i cant wait to see what these can do .

Hey AIR BEAR is your Brook Xbox one to PS4 converter still working till this day????
Dude the quality of your videos is wayyy to high to be having this little subs. +1 btw
It's not 5.5 GBit/s, it's 5.5 GByte/s, that means it's 8 times faster.
Where did you get the lights in the back from?
Time will tell. It will be an interesting gen. I hope both do great this time around.
There is also one thing that a lot of people are leaving out with Microsoft and that is their velocity architecture with bpac when it comes to the SSD. Which overall is more efficient and faster than PlayStations Kraken solution when it comes to their SSD.
Why do you think PS5 is finely engineerd but xbox series x isn't?
Also why are you not talking about how the SSD can turn into virtual ram on the series x which can help it dramatically?
Also why are you not talking about how the series x will have 100GB/s of storage directly available for developers?
Why are you saying PS5 will run at 120 fps and have 8k support when sony litteraly did not talk about nothing like that..?
Also, we don't even know if Sony's SSD will be able to do that series x demo, because we don't know if it's SSD is able to go into hard state at that speed.. so why are you saying it will do that and further more saying that it's going to be faster?
You are picking up all the Sony Info but you aren't talking everything for the series x. Seems like a fanboyism to me.
Disliked.
You know he said BOTH the PS5 and Xbox will be able to do 8K and 120, right? Or did you just hear the PlayStation bit and your fanboy brain just straight to hate?
@@naruto78961 but the thing playstation hasn't confirmed crap about their sustained framerates nor the resolution most games will be running at.
For example the UE5 tech demo was running at 1440p30 which makes me think that games will run even lower to 1080p30 if it can't even run a gameplay demo at atleast 4k30
MrSirjohny The current Xbox one X can do native 4K at 6 tflops and you’re questioning whether the PS5 with its 10tflops will be able to do native 4K or 120 FPS? Basing all that off of a tech demo that was made to show off the engine rather than the console? Come on dude. Use your head. These CPUs can run PC games at 120 FPS so why wouldn’t they for the consoles?
That’s like me saying the Xbox Series X might not be able to run a game at 120x4K because we haven’t seen a game that’s actually made for it.
