When you take Marley out, she needs to be leashed. It isn't the bears to worry about, but coyotes and hawks. Marley is so small she is perfect prey for those animals.
And check her for ticks! 🐕
Oh I never thought about that. Thanks
Marley is a snack.. careful
Keep your doors locked. Bears can open unlocked vehicle doors. I hope that you have fun.
You have nothing to fear but fear itself!! Enjoy the beauty and the peace!
Does she know that God is on her side? that angel s are there to help her?
Bears are attracted to all smells, food, cooking, toiletries, soaps, trash, etc. All of these must be kept in odor proof containers and stored away from your sleeping area, slung over a high tree branch if possible. Don't cook in your van, cook away from the van. Yes, bears are very dexterous and can open doors, break windows. Keep doors locked and park such that you are aimed toward your exit route and van is ready to drive away if necessary. A bear horn can scare them away.
Bears typically won’t break in unless you are in an area where many campers stay-keeping Marley on a leash is a good idea.
Fun! Most of the time campers watch out for each other.
Most bears are more scared of humans. Food left outside attracts bears, so dont store any food outside your van. Mostly, me thinks you will be fine Lindy, and Marley may start barking if she hears a bear rustling outside. Best wishes for a safe dispersed camping experience for all.
Lindy, thanks for making me laugh! I'm with you about the bears - and every other nasty critter, big or small. Good luck!
I'm sooooo proud if you and Marley out in nature. ❤❤❤
I am nearly 70 and had a drive from N AL to Florida, 13.5 hours in one day. My tailbone and back were hurting afterwards. I admire you, Lindy, for living in your van and for caring for Marley and yourself. I was riding along with my daughter and 4 children, as they moved. I did feel better with her having another adult with her. I love road trips. I hope to be able to live in a van one day. Aging is a hard thing to go through. 🥰 Lindy, can you give some wt loss tips for aging, hurting folks who can't seem to get the scales to budge? Honestly, I was in lung therapy for hours and the machine said I burned 41 calories! 41? Great job finding that camp area! You are my hero!
This is exciting, be glad when your camping partners get there. Have fun Lindy.....
You'll be fine, have fun! Marley will love it too!
I could hear the thunder on your video! Marley was trying to process that new noise!!! You wouldn’t believe how many dogs have Thunder phobias (as well as fireworks) and need tranquilizers just to help them cope with their fear and anxiety. So glad to see that Marley’s handling it well. See you on your live tomorrow instead of today 👍🏼
When I was a kid, 8-9, we had a German Shepherd and her name was Thunder, guess why…lol… she hated thunder storms. We used to have to put her in a closet when there was a thunder storm on the go. She felt safe and comfortable in the closet. Funny thing was, she was jet black, like a big black cloud. Cheers!
Wow! You sure have a lot of people giving you advice!
You’re brave to take on such an adventure! I’m always praying for you and little Marley!
Like others have said, we can hear the thunder! I’ll be glad when your sidekicks show up! Meanwhile take care of yourself and hunker down!❤
I am so envious of you. I love a good thunder and lightning storm
Marley says ""I'm going bear hunting!"😁🐻
The thunder sounds awesome 👌
Just PLEASE be super careful, Lindy. Try not to let Marley wander off too far. I hope your companions come soon. Bears scare the daylights out of me! I hope all goes well. ((Hugs)) to you and Marley. Rosemarie ❤🙏🏻
A very nice spot!
Oh my goodness you're so funny. Im 73 and I prefer camping by myself. I've spent several years in a 16 foot 1985 Road Ranger travel trailer. Recently I purchased something bigger. Slowly you'll get used to the sounds of the forest, the breeze in the trees, the coyotes singing in the distance and the sound of dry leaves and pine needles under your feet. Soon you'll wonder how you tolerated being in the desert or stealth camping in the city. Try to relax and enjoy where you are.
❤hope you have a fabulous and bear and bug free time.
Your imagination will keep you safe. It warns you of possible dangers. Please don’t let Marley wander. Bears are scary. I don’t care that some people don’t think all bears are scary. Just keep alert and stay safe.
Please please be careful. Its humans that scare me worse. Can you not go somewhere else safe. Till the others come??
Me too
It makes it feel more frightening because of the thunder.
It looks beautiful there Ms. Lindy. I would love to be out there right now. Be safe my dear friend 👋🏻🤗🩵💎
I would be more antsy in the city!😊
Wonderful, out of your comfort zone, normal to be scared. Lindy, you are young at heart and adventurous, keep it going. Never say never! Have fun!
I literally LOLed when you said you wanted to see the bear before the bear saw you. I'd be more afraid of mosquitoes: they carry disease. I hope you make progress in overcoming that fear. Nature is a wonderful thing. Thanks for bringing us along!
You are a city girl for sure. 😂. I wouldn’t be out in the middle of nowhere alone. Stay safe my friend.
Lindy, if you’re going to be about near July 4th. Keep Marley leashed outside the van. At all times. Fireworks could spook her & cause her to bolt away. That would be awful.
Congrats :) you will be fine...just relax and enjoy :)
You will be fine as long as you keep the food locked up, don't leave food outside or trash either cause then you're just inviting the bears and other critters to come. When i go into the woods like you are, i carry a can of bear spray when i go for walks. Looks beautiful. Enjoy your time
Oh my! Have much fun ❣️✌🏽💖🤟🏽✨️🧚♂️
I don’t think a bear will push window down even w all his weight. Noise will usually scare them off like an air horn or something even van horn Don’t be scared it even b better when other people meet up with you. Enjoy yourself and just keep eye out the bears won’t gang up and make a plan to attack or anything. That looks like a great place there t camp. You have fun take it easy. ❤
I always watch for bears too. As far as snakes go I’ve killed 4 snakes myself this week and my son in law killed 2. You did great finding dispersed camping on your own! Looking forward to seeing your next video! 😆
❤❤❤❤Dont fear. You have God and Marley watching over you.😊
Don’t be scared. More dangers in the city than in the woods. Enjoy the wild. Keep a clean Canp, if you cook outside just take what you need at the moment, keep all cooking untensiks inside unless using them. Smells brings brianimals in. Nothing more. Keep puppy close Relax and listen to the sky da if nature. Btw. We sometimes keep our windows all the way down.
Deep breath, calm down & keep Marley on a leash. You are definitely a city girl 😂. Get bear spray if you haven't already & police your trash & scraps. Bears are attracted to yummy smells & can open unlocked car doors. Once your friends arrive, you'll feel much better & have fun 👍.
Congratulations Lindy. Little One and I miss you & Marley ❌⭕🐾
enjoy your adventure Lindy! and maybe purchase some bear spray? it looks pretty out there! 😀🥰
I love a good thunder storm in the mountains. You'll be okay, just use common sense. You can put a little container of ammonia outside the van to detract wildlife. I keep some in a spray bottle in case of a mountain lion encounter while out hiking here in SoCal. Can't wait to see how you do there, take care! Sending good vibes your way.
Praying that you have a safe night and that your friends will show up tomorrow.
I get it. You're conquering your fears.
I find city life as a nomad so much easier. No Cooking in the van!!! Don't invite the critters over for dinner and they'll leave you alone. The alone part isn't cool. I've done that. It's creepy. I'm glad friends/campers will be joining you. God gave us dominion over animals. It's the human beast you have to prepare for.
I'm certain this will be a rewarding experience.
I prayed for your continuing safety.
Enjoy it! Live it! ✌️♥️
~ 🦋
We had bears in Colorado and the authorities told us to fill water-balloons with ammonia and then lay them around our house and finally put honey on top. It worked. The bear bit, got a horrible taste and did not come back.
I have tried 3 times to tell you all about a little plastic tool you can get to remove ticks. But theybdont post? 😉
Its very cheap, looks like a little shovel with a split in it. You slip it on and twist.the whole live tick comes out..
So easy, and safe..
Hope this posts..😃
I'm proud of you💪
Take a breath, keep Marley close. Glad someone else will be there.
I'm praying for you and Marley.🙏
oh Lindy I remember you said you are not into insects and wildlife. It can be creepy camping alone in the woods.I remember one time I camped alone at Mt Shasta on July 4th. I was in a tent and a deer ran through the campsite in the middle of the night frightened by the fireworks. I was already unable to sleep because its bear country but that totally freaked me out, i got out of that tent lickety split and into the car in two shakes, locked all the doors anf didnt sleep a wink that night. The main memory of that was nightime is very looong in the woods, haha! but the morning was even more beautiful for that. Good luck to you , stay safe make memories and glad you got other people joining you soon.
Im so proud of you. I would be just like you at first. lol
You and Marley will be fine. Have fun!
Lindy, make sure you ALWAYS have protection in the woods ,I worry more about people than animals ,but do keep a eye on your dog ,big birds like small prey .Get out there and build a small fire keeps animals away .Just keep any food inside .I love camping in the woods ,the Serenity is Great 👍.
No fire allowed.
Well darn ! ☹️
I’m so proud of your accomplishment! First time out is so full of unknowns. I’m in year 5 (at 64) and have never paid to park. Being alone is something I cherish. I’m so excited for you and Marley!!! 🎉 👏 🤗
Cuídate. I remember my 1st, it said rest area, and when I got there, it was forest dispers camping. No port-a-potti or water, nothing. I was prepared, though, and it was so quiet I couldn't sleep and no inet.
Be safe & have fun! ❤️
Most bears are scared of humans, except those who like to eat them.
Flagstaff?? wow, you do get around. it'll be cooler there for you.
Can you see the San Francisco Peaks? From the top of those you can see the Golden Gate Bridge.
Love & Prayers to you Lindy 🙏✝️💕
You are close to my old stomping grounds. I have such fun memories camping.
With much love from The Old Crone somewhere in the mountains of New Mexico ❤😊
Good job trying out dispersed camping! I’ve been doing in CA for the past year, and the only critter issue I’ve had has been mice 🙄
If you are in a known bear area, keep a very clean camp, make sure all food, toiletries and trash are inside when you close up for the night, and be sure to lock your doors. As for bugs, mosquito repellants and wasp traps are about your only defense; and make sure you can see where you are putting your hands and feet to avoid snakes. (I’m guessing you won’t be rock climbing, which is a big help in avoiding them!)
Mostly, have fun! You will get used to it with practice-I was petrified my first time!
Yes, a bear could slip his paw through your partially opened window and get himself in the vehicle probably before you could react. You definitely do not want to spray it while it is 1/2 way in your vehicle as you will also be affected by the spray. Not sure even why you are way out in the forest if you are so uneasy about the wild animals. We've had bears in our front yard and on our porch, and you can never underestimate the power they have behind their fuzzy paws or their heads.
Everything you said youre afraid of....I Love...I ve dispersed for many many years,,,alone
You could spray bear spray around your van. As a deterrent.
I'm loving that area!! It would make me so happy!!
Just make sure you leave out no trash, or food!! Roll the windows up at night, and try to keep Marley inside at night!!
I deal with a bear that likes my big outdoors trash bin! It's been here off and on now for about a month! So I don't let the cat go out at night. And if I have to go out, I take a real good bright flashlight and look around, checking first!! About 10 yrs ago, a mother bear and her 3 cubs ate the veggies out of my garden, so now it's fenced in!!
Bear spray could be handy
We can go weeks without seeing a bear but this week and part of last week we have seen a bear each day today we found where it is living this is the first bear since the fires 2 year ago I’m so excited about the bear more so than the deer and Elk because they have now had a feast our roses and some of our garden is no more
Thank you
be careful Lindy scary looking there
Looks like a great spot. Stay safe.
I’d be more afraid of people than the wildlife. Be safe. 🙏🏻
I'd be more afraid of unidentified humans than a bear.
Thanks!
Thank you for your super thanks support LINDY
Does Jason have your coordinates? Hope you aren't alone for the night. Take care of yourself and Marley 😮.
Yes he does.
Are you having a meet up? I'm in Flag, with 3 cats that run the forest.
DNR Officer said you should never let a bear see through windows to let them know what is on the other side of walls
Good to know
♥
Hated to see your video end ❤do you have wasp spray? I have been investigating dispersed camping and everyone carrys wasp spray for bears , it shouts up to 10 feet away and its like pepper spray to bears. Good luck ❤can't wait to see you're next video with friends😊
A Woman I met last spring that lives in a van just moved from Flagstaff because of the rain back to a NFS spot just out of Williams where I joined her a week last month. The only visitors she has are cows.
Bears won't attack you. There's other people around, don't be so scared. You're just a city girl.
I would keep Marley close cause a bear could be attracted by her smell 😮😮❤❤❤
No bears in the area forest rangers moved them out learn to become one with Mother Nature she is your friend
At least its not 90 and 100 degrees 🎉
It got down to 65
@@l.a.v.alindysawesomevanadv3428 That's great
Please keep Marley close and on a leash. Roll your windows all the way up because bears can break that glass very easy. Plus keep them locked. I hope you have a gun for defense. Be safe
How you doing? 😅
Get some bear spray..seriously..
😅 you can stop just about anything with that😅😅 then drive away😂
Hello
Going back to your video where you were looking at Old rest stops. A well-known nomad has just posted a video a couple in their 70s were attacked robbed and stabbed at a rest stop in the past few days the husband has passed the wife is in hospital in critical condition, stay the hell away from rest stops please!!!!!!!
Also this happened in broad daylight!
I saw the news before the video. One incident should not deter you but keep you more alert. That stuff is happening everywhere I don't plan on stopping what I am doing.
@@l.a.v.alindysawesomevanadv3428 you're a grown woman you do what you want.
Coyotes is the concern.
Please be safe I could not do that..
Keep an eye on that Marley. They smell her.
I heard brown bear lay down, black bear fight back. keep it all closed and locked and eat cold food. More safety in numbers, but you'll be safe. The first time of anything is kindve scary.
Hello Marley❤
Ok see you wed 6p my time, 5p your time.
Brown lay down, black fight back
@@Madcappty. I looked it up to be sure but I doubt I'd lay down. I think I'd just be quiet and still.
I was told only black bears in AZ.
What are you doing there?
Actually you are MST which is same as PDT.
Yep, right now that’s true! I live in AZ, and we don’t do Daylight Savings Time…always MST. 😊
How did your night go? How was the ground after the rain?
Awe I feel for you, you are out of your element, definitely an adventure. I'm more afraid of biting bugs & such like like bees, hornets, wasp mosquitos, spiders or snakes & scorpions. I made window screens for my 2 roll down windows. When parked in nature I put them up with heavy magnets on the outside of the van all around the windows. I hope you can used to it. Just breath. I think the sounds of nature are so much more pleasant that stinky loud city noises & threats of drug crazed humans. Oh, p.s. keep Marley on a long tether sh d small & coyotes have been known to come into camps when they are hungry. The boy coyotes do terrible things to girl dogs not mention they can kill her.
At RTR coyotes were getting dogs on the leash in camp. I don't intend to have her off leash here but being on leash means nothing. I have seen that for myself. We have to alert to everything around us.
@@l.a.v.alindysawesomevanadv3428 ohhh, im sorry to hear that about coyotes getting dogs on their leash. How horrible.
Do you have any screens to put on your windows so your windows is not all exposed
🙂👍🙏
Hope you got some bear spray ?
Do you still have your garden on the back? Would that attract the bears?
Can't cross state lines with plants. Left them with Jason.
I would trust animals over people anyday. They are predictable, people are not.
What is dispearsed camping
There was a retired couple who got killed at a rest stop in Nebraska by an attempted robber. Carol has a video about it.
Well let's just scare her more😢
Yes I know that is happening everywhere. We cannot allow that to deter us from life. We must be alert at all times.
