The very end where the two security guards are like "well what else is on" after Truman leaves is such a wonderful punch to the gut and perfectly underlines the whole movie.

Personally I always found that to be a beautiful note for it to end on even if it is kind of depressing because it's taking the time to focus on what you the audience member watching will continue to be if you don't learn from the messages of this film and seek out your own truth and dreams like truman did. You'll just be another audience member watching other people accomplish things. The choice to end on that rather than the huge climactic moment where truman's story end to me shows that the point of the movie wasn't the actual story it showed it was more about wanting you to learn the messages and improve yourself because of it, even if it's also in a way mocking how most people won't do that and will be just like the security guards it is clearly showing a divide that there are two very different ending options for you and the only difference is how hard you're willing to work to get there.

The irony is, Marlon would actually be a good, genuine friend to Truman in the real world. It’s clear he’s conflicted about how he feels, and in 2 deleted scenes (esp the one where he spots Truman as he tries to flee, and lets him go) it’s made clear he does care for Truman. Come to think about it, Marlon is as much a prisoner as he is. He was forced into the show as a child and pressured by his parents into being Truman’s friend. He was essentially groomed into the role from young and had no choice but to stay on the show for money. Marlon arguably understands Truman’s predicament the most. As much as Truman would have every right to hate his guts, Marlon would be the very kind of person Truman could bond with.

This might be a stretch but Truman doesn't want to go to Fiji merely because it is the furthest place away from his town, but it is also the place that 'Sylvia's dad' says that he is taking Sylvia after she is abducted and taken away at the beach after their kiss. Maybe he is following her, as that is a key source of motivation for Truman to leave.

It’s definitely a movie about free will. However much you can create the perfect life for somebody, they will always want to be free to experience humanity despite how utopian it is. History has proved this to us and the Truman show has just articulated that through film. His one true moment of humanity led him to leave all the utopian aspects of his life behind. You can always control a man’s life but you cannot always control the man’s thoughts.

Ridley McNamara connecting yourself with the spiritual world will open your eyes to the truth of our reality, consistent meditation is the main key to achieve this and psychedelics can also help, if you want to start learning about this stuff a good place to start researching is the third eye or the pineal gland

    • @ridleymcnamara2273

@@Brotherhiram I appreciate your comment. And while what you are saying makes some kind of sense to me, and believe me I have experiences also, Everytime I try to explain or have this explained ppl only ever speak about it in cryptic parables and codes or something. Or they say to research.
It's as if there is some rule that once you know about this you are not allowed to speak of it.
I'm a literal and practical person, I like facts and also I keep an open mind.
The frustrating part is that I don't find answers for the stuff and when I bring it up ppl either don't want to talk about, or I end up sounding crazy or whatever.

    • @Brotherhiram
      @Brotherhiram Před 4 lety +7

Ridley McNamara Im not completely sure of what you mean by saying things in parables but i think your referring to where i said your eyes would be opened to the truth of our reality. To go more into detail about this, most people are not aware of whats really going on and dont know that everything we see and do is controlled by people in positions of power, there is an agenda to control us and make us act and
think a certain way behind everything in the media just like what truman show was about about. The reason why i didnt go into this much detail is because, like you said, when people hear about this type of stuff they think you are crazy and dont even consider anything you have to say. I said to do research because the truth about the world we are in is so bizarre and there is so much knowledge hidden from the masses that it would be a lot easier for you to read up on it yourself and form your own opinions then try to explain it to you and tell you mine. As far as what you said about there being a rule about not being allowed to speak about this, that is not the case at all, at least for the people that arent using this knowledge to control the public like the elite people in positions of power are doing. I even feel that it is my purpose on this earth to spread the word about these things, especially to people who are looking for truth. I relate to you saying that you are literal and practical and like facts but also keep an open mind. I was a hardcore atheist before learning about spirituality and i thought anyone who had beliefs outside of this physical reality were dumb. You can find many facts that will lead you to finding the truth, such as how almost every president was a freemason and have attended groups such as the bohemian grove, bilderberg group, skull and bones and many more. The rabbit hole goes so deep that you need to do your own research about it for yourself because there is so much to learn and this comment is already long af lmao. But i believe that it is my responsibility as someone who knows this to spread this knowledge and if you have any questions ask.

Snowpiercer is slightly different in its allegory. Chris Evan’s Curtis is ultimately meant to be not a _saviour_ type character, but a _replacement_ of the existing false god of the train’s engineer. Ultimately it’s not he who makes it out of the destroyed reality of the train, but the 2 side characters of the girl and the young boy.

More than all the religious and philosophical meanings about God, free will, etc, what I love most about The Truman Show is the simple display of the human spirit. Truman knows something is wrong and that he isn't free, and he wants to find Sylvia. He has no idea what's out there, but he risks his life just for the possibility of true freedom and a real human connection. Everyone watching, even the people in the control center, empathize with him because a desire to know the truth and to feel love is such a fundamental human need.

the film is loosely based on a theory by Plato. it says that if you took some people as babies, and chain them in a cave, facing a wall, so they can't turn around, and then outside the cave, light a bonfire, and have objects and creatures moving in front of it and making noises, the prisoners would think the shadows, were alive and making the noise. If one of the prisoners was set free and discovered that the shadows weren't alive, just reflections, the prisoner would think their old life was worthless. he argues we may be like the prisoners, just not know it.

Denying someone the truth of existence, the real reality, is evil. The Trueman show is sickening to me. Because death is preferable to living a lie. If exiting Plato's cave had a 99% chance of being fatal, I would still step outside - without hesitation.

I hope that we do not discover that our own universe exists in some kind of simulation.
I think that CGP Grey and Brady Haran have mentioned that laws of mathematics explain many aspects of our world suspiciously well. Thus, it is possible that all of us are in some kind of simulation, and we are better off leaving it, so as not no let anyone stop it. Haha.
