This is part one of a two part series where I show how to swap seats from a 1999 Ford Explorer into a 1998-2010 Ford Ranger. This is my first video, so if you have suggestions or questions, leave it in the comments. I am going to leave a link to the wiring as well as go over it better in PT. 2. For your moisture problem.back check your third brake light they’re prone to leak especially if it’s been removed. front, run water in the Cowell and make sure the water runs out under the truck if it’s running inside CZcams has several videos on how to clean the debris out from under the cowell

You probably already know this, but if you got some vice grips handy, you can clamp the ends of those stripped wires to the terminals. Many times I've done that test without using a clamping device for the wires and usually ends up with the battery or what's being tested thrown over the fence. 😁

I was removing thing innards of a 2001 about the same time that you did this video. Mainly, the carpet was black/nasty toast and the insides smelled worse than a wet ash tray, nicotine in/on everything. I had to wash EVERYTHING down and deodorize, and went back with Black Vinyl instead of carpeting. I had ordered a box of KillMat, sort of like what you got, hoping that it would be enough. With the factory sound deadening, I ended up having 2/3rds of the box left. I did remove the back panel and went around the back of the cab, under the rear window, also. It's not as quiet as my Navigator, but it did make a considerable difference in road noise. You can really tell the difference when you drive with the rear window open.
What you are doing with the seats is what I plan to do next, as soon as I find the right seats. There is also a boot available for the shifter that fits that console perfectly, I saw it on another YT video and should have book marked or saved it. It shouldn't be too hard to find.
A good thing to get and practice with for when the plastic tabs break, or other plastic parts crack (and they will, sooner or later), is a plastic welder. Hobo-Freight has one for about $16 that I got and repaired the dash around where the previous owner had busted it up while smashing in an aftermarket radio. I found all of the broken bits and pieces while I was getting the carpet out and was actually able to reconstruct the dash back to original condition and installed an OEM AM/FM Cassette/CD from a 2001 Windstar (and it sounds better then the Pioneer unit that he stuck (literally) in there). I also used the welder to repair a nasty, spider web split in the drivers door panel, about 8 inches long, where the door had been slammed with something in the way. It came out pretty nicely, not perfect but you wouldn't notice it if you weren't looking for it.

I’m considering limited or Eddie Bauer seats for my 2005 FX2L2. It’s all black so probably EB edition seats.
Hope they tilt both directions so I can get asces into the back of my regular cab
Regal cabs are different. I'm not sure how but I do know they are different to install. They slide forward and recline. Enough to have access back there.

Bought 05 Ford Explorer seats and center console to do this with in my 01 Ranger. Unfortunately I didn’t do the research before hand and the tracks don’t line up…
Any suggestions? Thinking maybe trim the OEM brackets so the seat sits better and weld my own little brackets that will line up with the screw holes?
Yeah, I would take both brackets and make one bracket. Just make sure you get the height right otherwise it could end up being super uncomfortable seating position.
You can also use your cordless drill battery to hook to the seat motor. What are the new seats out of?

I’m putting 07 Subaru legacy heated leather seats in my ranger, I need to make mounting brackets but I’m more worried about how hard the wiring will be because they have built in airbags that I’ll need to bypass
There are wiring diagrams out there for the legacy seats. I would just not put power to the airbags, they will have their own power supply separate from heat and power options.
I have a 93 ranger, and I like your dash a bit more.. Would I have an issue running Hvac if i replaced it with a later model like yours?
You know, I am not totally sure on that. I would imagine either way you could make it work, just use corrugated tube for plumbing the HVAC vents. I would be more worried about dimensions and mounting locations.

Can this be done on the single cabs? Can't find much info on the single cab trucks but I have a 01 sport trac thats junk but its leather power seats with the nice center console. Thinking bout swapping it in my single cab, I've got a 12 inch shallow mount sub behind the seats and it would be clean with the nice center console and seats.

Which year Ford Explorer seats fit a 2007 Ranger XLT 60/40 front seat configuration.
There is a writeup in the description that can help with that.
I just recently tried to swap out my stock Ranger driver seat with 2 different Explorer seats and neither one would work. 99 and 2000 Explorer would not just bolt in. IDK what gives? I could get in the rear bolts but the front mounting points would not reach the holes in the floor pan even sitting in the seat made no difference because the Explorer seat touched the Ranger floor.
That is odd. I would check the year of the interior and match it with the write up in the description of the video to make sure they match.
Tip for dealing with the wind and recording:Don't worry about talking through it to avoid slip ups and dealing with the wind. Record a voice over after the fact to talk people through it

No.. it was bench seat.
I did the same swap in my 02 ranger with a sporttrac interior. Only issue I'm having is with the seat belt plug that keeps the dash light on. I see you used the original truck buckles on yours. I just wish I had seen this video before. Thanks for video and info.

With these newer cars, rust isn't bad but our 95's, uggh. people not to clean the hole area of rust then treat it and spray paint it. New stainless steel bolts or clean the old bolts and add, anti-sieze. I just would do it
