    This video is not only a guide for Ford Ranger owners but for anyone looking into putting bigger tires on your truck or SUV. This question gets a bad reputation because it gets asked so often, as well as there is not %100 certain answers.
    In this video, I did my best to highlight the factors that go into deciding the size of tire and wheel you pick out. If you have any questions please leave them in the comment section, or DM me on my Instagram @DoinitwithDoug. Thanks for watching,

    I have a 2001 ranger xlt 4x4 with 33’s that I put on yesterday. No lift, but torsion bars were tweaked BEFORE I ever considered the 33’s. I had 265’s on, and the previous owner had the torsion bars adjusted with those on it. I’m looking at getting some 35’s for her. That is how I found this video! I’m wanting to get a 3” lift with the 35’s.

    Our 11 Ranger is only used for working around our property and hauling a yard or so of gravel or dirt.
    It’s a 4X4 with the 4.0. I did install a K&N intake and a Flowmaster exhaust as well as air shocks on the rear, for hauling heavy loads.

      Like I’ve said, we mainly use our Ranger for work around the property. During the winter months I only drive it about once a month or so into Wenatchee (30 miles away). During the summer, it’s used for hauling, so fuel economy is seldom checked in our vehicles.

      @DoinitwithDoug  Před 7 měsíci

      With positive 18mm offset, you might run into clearance issues with the control arms. You could get wheels with more negative offset or use hub centric wheel spacers to help fit some tires. 2wds sit lower from the factory so you wont be able to fit bigger tires but you should be able to find some that look good with that set up.

    Ok so if I take a truck with a 30” tire already on it and that tire rotates 622 times in a mile.
    That same truck I put on 50” tire that rotates 404 times a mile.
    But of course because the bigger tire has a bigger diameter, the engine struggles and the Speedo is wrong.
    What if I put on portal axles with a low gear ratio to counteract this?
    Then my speedo is correct and my engine has the same mechanical advantage with the 50” as it did with the 30”.
    Yes I know the 05” will be heavier and cause the engine to struggle more, but I’m ignoring that for the time being.
    What do y’all think?

    How can I crank my torsion keys on a 05 ford ranger fx4

    • @DoinitwithDoug
      @DoinitwithDoug  Před 3 lety +2

      Its really simple. Follow the bar the runs from your lower control arm to about the middle of your truck, near the transmission crossmember. At the end of the bar there will be a bolt that runs perpendicular to the ground. Lift the front end up with a jack, so its off the ground. Then turn that bolt (count how many turns) and repeat for each side until you reach the height you want. Remember as you tighten the bolt it increases your spring rate on your torsion bar making the ride stiffer. Thanks for watching.
