Hey SCOTTY!! Quick question. Can I install an engine with California emissions into a car with federal emissions? (2009 Accord V6 MT) Also will I lose any power due to CA emission regulations?
@scottyKilmer I’m about 10mins away from where you are in Rhode Island, I have a 2015 Toyota Sequoia available if you would like to run some tests on it or to film some content.
117 and the 4x4 has issues? Please. Its most likely ok and would take a few weekends to straighten it out. Where's the cat? I think the cat liked the secretaries in Houston. Sit on a car and watch them walk by or walk up and get a massage.
Scotty, how do you feel about 2012 Ford fusion v6's and what would you recommend changing/tuning at 100,000 miles?
In the words of WC Fields,
" there's a sucker born every day" 🧰🙌👍🍺
We need a full interview with owner - his knowledge would be gold.
the owner getting it undercoated right off the bat is probably one of the best things he did. and from the look of it who ever did the job knew what they were doing.
i have worked on cars for 32 years and i have seen some crappy undercoating applications
@@miketonon7946 Really? In that case, I would love to know about how you went about minimizing rust - did you do anything like diesel/oil or fluid film type spraying - did you wax the paint? Silicon the rubber etc... really anything that you think contributed to the amazing condition it has remained in.
@@miketonon7946 Great Job of maintaining the truck, my friend. Above and beyond!

@@miketonon7946 that's your ranger?

Just bought a 2002 ranger XLT 3.0L with 67,000 miles I’m in love with it
I love my 2005 ranger with almost 200,000 miles.
Pretty nice half a truck

I like that it has the manual transmission.
Yep, good for smoking the tires & burning the clutch out.
You can also get a brand new Tacoma with a manual too.
My grandpa gave me his 86 ford ranger when I got my driver's license.
He bought it new off the lot and took care of it. And I have been taking care of it for the last 12 years, they don't make like they used too.
It is the kind of truck, you drop a new engine or transmission in. Both quality and centimeenal value.
@@bikerrider4845 I own a 2020 Tacoma, SR5 and it was not available with the manual transmission unless you got the 4x4, and then it was only available in one trim. I love my Tacoma, I had it a year and 5 months now, it replaced my 1993 Tacoma, that had 294,000 miles on it.
Damn good choice for a plow truck!
Ford Rangers are great Trucks they never let me down.
Last Time I was this Early, Scotty was still in Tennessee!
I miss show off Sunday where owners show their great older vehicles are still running great.
Agreed. Last one I saw was van life I believe. Or maybe British Biker Philippines...
Forgot to note, I subbed to both. Great content..
What is this witchery...Scotty enamored with a Ranger. That Tennessee moonshine working it's magic
It's only because it's a manual transmission
I'm a ranger owner. Cheap lil bang around work truck. For light duty stuff. Like a smaller f-150 easier to park and better gas mileage. Downside is its uncomfortable AF. Suspension is very stiff and seat doesn't recline at all as a single cab. Cheap spring seat also. But a lil truck that gets 20mpg that you can buy for about $1k. It is what it is
Still raving for Ford, knocking GM, but oh, look at the time, I have to get in my 21 y.o. Silverado work truck here in Maine and get to work. Good thing she runs and rides so awesome after all these years. And almost completely stock. I suppose a pump or the radiator will need replacing, someday.
When you showed the Ridgeline as you said it wasn't a real truck I just 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣.
My daily is a 2007 Ford ranger xlt with the 3.0 and the 5 speed auto. Love that little truck. Still runs like a dream.
I’ve had 2 rangers, easy to work on and my dad bought it from me and put over 235,000 on it, original engine and transmission. Great trucks!
Which year r them please?
@@JL-fly7 2005 Ranger Extended Cab had over 235k, the other was a 2001 XLT extended cab. Only had 96k before we sold it. Both had the 3.0l gas and were 2wd. The 2005 was a fleet vehicle.
@@thegadgetrulez What do u think of the 2.3 ecoboost Ranger and either 2.7 or 3.5 Ecoboost F-150 regarding the reliability and durability in a long run time? Thx.
Must have been taken care of and never driven hard.

I like the woodgrain accents. Makes it look so much nicer than the black interior low level "work trucks".
I would like to share that there was a time in my life where I was completely broken. I didn't know where to turn. I tried crying out to family members and friends, that did not work. I didn't know where go turn. I finally cried out to Jesus, and he heard my cry. When the bible says God is near to the brokenhearted it is very true. I cried out to God in tears, and He eventually turned my sorrow to joy. I thank God for the gift of salvation that He gave me. Now I have a wife and 2 kids that God has blessed me with. Please stick in there and give God a chance to transform your life. Cry out to God no matter how broken you are.

I had an 03 ranger it took 18 year of being parked in the weather to the paint job start to go...it still didn’t look bad
I have a white 2000 Ranger, and it's now starting to chip in some areas. The white crayon trick works pretty well though.

Trucks were for the working folk. Sensible, dependable, utilitarian... now they jam them with so much useless technology it’s priced people out. I don’t need power windows just give me a single cab with crank windows.

I owned a 2000 Ford Ranger for 13 years. The only reason I sold it was I needed a much larger truck to tow a newly purchased 5th wheel.
That Ranger was one of the most reliable vehicles I've owned. I wish I still had it.
Those manual transmission ranger are so damn fun to drive and last a long time. I know a guy who has 325k on his ranger it is a early 90s model with a 4 cylinder and manual transmission. Still has alot of life left in it
That's a fine ride. Epic love for the manual!
I have a 2005 Ford f 150 4.2 6 125,000 it’s been a great truck recently had to get the transmission rebuilt. The transmissions in fords are weak but the engines run forever
I just bought my 2002 Ford ranger back in November. I cannot believe how well these vehicles can hold up! The biggest thing I tell owners is watch out for the rear shackles and mounts.
he was smart getting the undercoat from day one so she didn't start rusting to begin with
I loved my 99 ranger with the 2.5, and a 5 speed transmission. Step side bed, and an Ohio truck all its life. One word SOLID. That truck was solid as hell, and went all over the state with 16 year old me behind the wheel.
This owner was very DILIGENT. VERY will maintained. Most people will never treat a vehicle like this. Kudos to the owner!
I understated my 2020 Tundra with New Hampshire undercoating. Great stuff. Best to do in cooler weather
Love me some Scotty vids on a Sunday 😎
Saturday too👌
It’s not an imitation truck - shows a Honda Ridgeline 💀🤣🤣
That trucks been well taken care of. It is a great example of what happens when you properly cade for your vehicle
Miss my uncles 2002 ford ranger. It had the 2.3 l4 with the 5 speed manual and it had 240,000 miles on it
Scott! It was nice seeing you and the grandkids last weekend
I have the same (2007 Mazda B4000 has 156k kms) drives like new still and no rust!
This is the classic grandpa truck BUT it’s the perfect daily driver. I loved this so much I bought an 01 manual Ranger and have a mid rise Leer camper.
Hey scotty from GA! I love my 94 ranger it has almost 350k miles.
great job keeping that thing up
Sunday afternoon to you Scotty, hope you and yours are doing well. I can't believe how used trucks especially pickup trucks are so much in demand now .
🧰🙌👍🍺
Did it have a 3.0 or 4.0?
Kinda what I figured about 3 years ago when I went looking for a reliable used truck. V6, manual, near zero bells and whistles. It's been great to own.
WOW!! Thats amazing!!! It looks new! I wish I knew how he took care of the paint.
I love me some rangers ! I own 3 right now. Back in the day I accumulated 7 or 8 at one time. Great trucks if you take care of them.
Had a Mazda B 4000, was a great vehicle. The 4.0 is a great engine. I had the auto, serviced it every 40,000 miles. Kept it for 13 years.
That truck was drop dead beautiful! Well kept!
My dad has the same truck except his is 2004 Black Flare side and Automatic and it has 178,000 miles on it and its going strong. He didn't buy it new but has had it for about 8 to 10 years at least and has put at least 100,000 of those miles on it. It's garage kept and he changes the oil every 3,000 miles and keeps up with all routine maintenance. And luckily he hasn't had any trouble with the automatic transmission either.
Had one. I miss it every single day.
The Florida pool pump motor repair guy approved ! that was good info Scotty
These Rangers were great trucks, I bought a 93 brand new and drove it a lot of miles with regular maintenance.
I had a 2000 Ranger and it was a great truck, except for the front suspension. I liked it, but it was too small for my needs.
I loved the rangers. Had a 97 xlt 4x4 with six foot bed. Awesome truck. Sold it last year. Have a family. A two seat truck Dosent fit four. But that 4L six. Kicked arse. Only replaced the ac compressor, alternator, gas float and 4x4 relay. Thought for sure I would go through a thermostat. Never did. Ended up changing the gas float. But hey. Had the truck since 98. Second owner. And those are the only problems I had. Can’t complain. She was a great work truck. Kids loved her.
I have a 2005 4wd Ranger, 155k miles, second owner, (it was my moms truck bought new), all stock and never been offroad. The charcoal grey paint still looks new. Great Truck and I've always owned Nissan and Toyota trucks.
Had a 93 ranger, loved it. Traded it in out 160k only issue was the water pump. Great trucks.
I have a '05 Ranger with the 4.0 L engine 160,000 miles and auto trans. that I bought new -- no problems so far . Well my Ranger was t-boned over 6 grand damages knocked the hell outta the resale value ... Still gonna go on a 2/3 ,000 mi trip this summer --- this ol boy's over 80 and don't have that much more time to see some more of these good ol U.S. of A... Oil and brake jobs is all this Ranger needed.
Good for you man, I'm just looking on craigslist at an '11 4.0 with 100 K and auto trans, and I'm also a roadtripper and hope to go to the southwest from WA State, etc. Just would need a canopy to sleep in.
for 20 years I've owned a '93 ranger that now has 220 K on it, and all its needed has been oil and brakes as well! But I don't quite trust trust it for yet another long trip :-)
The fact that you're 80 and you're doing it is so impressive to me, that's how I want it to go for me. i'm keeping strong and lean.
Did you take that trip across the US of A?
God bless the owner's preparedness and taking steps to reduce issues. Just began working on my 20 year old car and a lot of the small things I could've taken the time to quickly fix early on have snowballed into much larger issues that are costing me a lot.
Still, if that car ever goes, my go-to vehicle for the future will probably be a Ranger or a Tacoma or any other old-reliable truck.
I used to be a GM fanatic (and in many ways, Buick is still my baby), but lately I've seen how Ford/Lincoln has lead the American car standard in a big, big way.
Buicks
Rev up your engines!!! Love the channel Scotty!
I'm impressed, that is a nice Ranger! My '07 Subaru Legacy with 166k miles still looks new, though the dreaded wheel well rust finally became apparent on the right rear wheel well, where I see bubbles forming under the paint along the lip. Maybe about the best you can hope for out of a Subaru body - I think 14 years is better than average for a northeast non-garaged Subie!
goes to show if you buying brand new get the undercoating for the bottom of the vehicle it pays off in the long run as it shows with that Ranger
Nice looking truck ! 👍
I had a 2000 2wd 4 cylinder ranger. Loved it until the frame recently rotted and broke. Not bad for a 20 year old vehicle in the rust belt
Afternoon Scotty happy Sunday! 🏁

The Ranger "Splash" Front the 90s. Is a beautiful pick up
I bought a 95 Chevy s10 I know we are here for rangers WHICH I LOVE MY GPA SHOWED ME WHY TO RESPECT THEM, but it’s honestly a crazy good truck, with a 5 speed manual and the 4.3 CPI, crazy good shape, and here in the Midwest you can find these trucks a ranger and a s10 for dirt cheap don’t sleep on either even if you’re bias
Cool T-shirt Scotty..."Don't mess with Texas"...Transportation dept. trademarked that phrase.👍
Haha! You do see some rough cars here in Connecticut, especially closer to the water here...and especially on the GM vehicles!
Man that's a clean and great looking Ranger...wow! 😲
Had an 08 ranger sport 5 speed . Best truck I’ve ever had . I got rid of it when I had my second kid and still regret it . It was pristine minus a ding on the passenger side from my wife backing into it .
I have a 02 with 89k miles in Florida and there is not a spec of rust on it. Its mint and currently wrapped. I love me a nice ranger.
Nice one Scotty🙂
Lol I love how you bleeped out “snort Coke” 😂
Very well taken care of👍Just like my 2002 S10 SPORT...2.2 Liter Automatic 200,000 original miles & the original paint too..in Arizona🏜
I sold my ranger. I miss her... she had 335,000 still ran really well. Just wasn't using it as much since I got me camry.
Just drove my ‘96 with the same engine from Seattle to Houston through Montana and Wyoming, had zero issues. Love that thing. Was the ‘14 Honda Pilot giving us issues😂 (just a bad sensor though we think)
My '01 Ranger 4dr shortbed has been a good little truck bought used with 90K on the odometer now 200+. Does what I need. Tows a 20ft vintage boat and vintage 17ft travel trailer.
Wow, that Ranger is in pristine condition! Very impressed!
my dad had a 2002 ranger w a v6 manual rwd, 271k miles when he sold it for 1k, he used to treat it like a dump truck and do burnouts with it and it still ran like a top, they really are the american tacoma
I have a 2004 ford ranger 4.0 v6, auto, 4x4, edge flareside, and it has around 145-146k miles on it still shifts good, before my sister got it it had 90k miles on it and it was a one owner. There are a few dents here and there but overall stills pretty good and it is my first vehicle and I really like it. All though i wish it was a manual
hey folks, my 2003, , bought brand new by me, my ford f-150, still looks like new paint, yipee, thank you scotty, and so glad you live in tennessee, he he. have to throw a ho ho in there ya know...for me!
I got an 08 Chevy 171 k miles. Have only replaced tranny, and starter. Truck is solid. 5cylinder is solid.
It's a little truck, you can park it in the garage. When I bought my Nissan Frontier, I test drove home and parked in the garage and it fit.
We used to have a Ranger plant in Minnesota, we know all about road salt--believe you me!
I still see lots of them here in Detroit area, they're still good work trucks.
2003 F-250 guy: I hate to mention it after you bought it, but that 6.0 was a nightmare for many who since switched to Cummins or Duramax forever.

My 5-speed ‘09 Ranger, I miss. Unfortunately, my son totaled it, but it protected him - walked away with just a couple bumps.
My 01 Ranger is at 105k, 4x4, 4.0, 5 Speed, Automatic, haven't replaced anything besides the shocks, still going strong here. Including the Automatic, have had to haul ATVs across the US during the Summer, didn't break a sweat, just broke the bank on gas lol

My dad bought an 88’ Ranger XLT in late 1987 in Pennsylvania just the single cab with 4x4. I drove it later in the early 2010s as a winter vehicle as I made a poor choice in choosing mustangs as my daily drivers and passed the 200k mile mark on the original transmission, 2.3L engine and transfer case. Replaced some components through the years to keep it manageable like u- joints, exhaust etc.. but he didn’t even consider getting a new paint job until it’s 25th anniversary as someone trying to squeeze in an alley way with a moving truck an scraped the side. He got it painted, fix some rust holes in the frame himself prior but never the frame. Sold it about 4 or 5 years ago to a guy we knew through my brother even for a few grand and found out later he drove to Colorado and back to Pennsylvania. As far as I know, one of the 3 most bulletproof domestic vehicles ever made other than certain year Chevy Cavaliers and the box style Cherokee Limited.
I have three Ford SUV's and truck and they are still in great shape and I got each of them used and the SUV's only was one year old when I got them, but the truck was older, but not driven much and it has 66k miles on it.
