Kwame Brown was never a bad player, it's just that infamous Stephen A. Smith rant and his overall mental strength are two things that held him back tremendously from exceeding or meeting those expectations that he easily could've. Kwame is proof that some players need a year or two in college under their belts before going pro, he just wasn't ready. And to top it off, playing under Michael Jordan's leadership is no easy feat especially for a teenager, only to get traded to a team with an even meaner Kobe Bryant on it. Basketball is 75% mental and 25% skill, and alot of players tend to be tremendously talented, Kwame included (just watch some of his games, the potential was there) it's just most of them can't put it together mentally. Overall, you don't last 12 years in the NBA being a scrub.
Very few players can take that kind of public criticism at 18. Lebron was probably the best. Kobe was protected from that as a rookie. Coming off the bench
