You have to have an extremely high IQ to understand why Lance Stroll is such a great driver. With every year the number of GPs increasing, Lance understands that it's a marathon, and not a sprint. By finishing outside the top 10 or binning it into the wall, he's actually just conserving energy for races later in the season. Come Abu Dhabi in November, everyone will be tired and wont have the energy to give it their all. But Lance will. Lance will have only done half the laps everyone else has done this season, and with all that conserved energy, he'll win in a landslide.

And they are working in a high pressure and fast moving environment where you don't always have the luxury of thinking about what's on tape. It does affect some things for sure, but that can be interesting in itself.

The thing about Stroll is that in spite of him starting to show some sustained improvement in his skills, his learning curve is not nearly steep enough for F1.
He's been driving in F1 since 2017 and anyone else would've been long gone.
I get that it's nice for Lance to have a parent who supports him so fiercely and I'm honestly happy to see him improving but it kinda hurts to think about where AM might be able to get in the championships with a different driver who has the pressure to perform and how many drivers, new and old, we didn't get to see have their chance to show what they can do.
Can you imagine Seb and God Lonso as teammates? This season would be drastically different.
