The only reason Red Bull signed Perez again was because they needed the Mexican Minister of Defense to take out the back end of the grid so Max doesn't have to get slowed down by lapped cars 😂
And the $$$ from Checo's sponsors. Plus Max doesn't want a teammate who can challenge him.
Plus he sells loads of cans of Red Bull in Mexico which is apparently a large market. Either way, we all agree that the new contract was not connected to his performances on the track.

When Daniel dropped two places right at the start I wanted to headbutt my TV. When he got a false start penalty I did.
The worst part is that according to his engineers the false start wasn’t his fault.

@@dylanmonaghan3342 Apparently they changed the rules so even if the transponder doesn't detect movement, if a steward sees movement he can still get a penalty.
And of course the only reason you could see movement was because he was on inters that have tread. So back to a completely subjective interpretation. Yay!

Seeing RPM become an established person in the F1 space was not on my bingo card but I'm here for it
Jacques Villeneuve was in a championship winning car for 2 years but only manage a measly 11 wins and 23 podiums.
Daniel Riccardo was never in a championship winning car has 8 wins and 32 podiums.
Yeah Jacques is really good....
not to mention his sudden drop after winning wdc, even after having a team that was formed around him... describing that as a drop is such an understatement though. if there is a one-hit-wonder award in f1 then it's definitely him.
jacques also nearly lost his championship to schumacher with a better car.
Tbf, Jaques won the world championship in his second ever season which is a tied record, you can diss his personality but not his driving

Big whoop. He had significantly fewer starts than DR and managed a championship and more wins, while fighting shumi to the point that he tried to kamikaze him.
The JV slander is crazy. Tell me you never watched him race without telling me. He absolutely had slumps (but so did others like Kimi lmao) - but you can't take away his performance in his prime.
Let's also look at those podiums, shall we? Because DR generally had 2nd/3rd/4th best cars, or upper half anyway, and now with racing bulls is arguably back there.
BAR was not that.
But JV only had 2-3 years in a decent team as their primary drive, and managed 23 podiums of 163 races. 14% podium rate.
DR, with more reliable cars and a generally better position on average, had a 12.9% podium rate, with 32 in 248 entries.
So yeah, stat doesn't seem as impressive with that comparison, much less the context around it, nor does the win rate. 2.8% vs 6.7%. Over double.
You really can't dog on JV for dropping off hard, either, because look at Danny. Red Bull was classic, Renault was good, McLaren singlehandedly made him worth PAYING MILLIONS TO LEAVE EARLY, while he was singlehandedly bringing in crazy money and reputation/media attention to a team working on becoming a branding giant.

Honestly I understand that point of view but he should not be a commentator in the race. As a French whose only option is well to watch the races in French, he doesn’t know how to comment a race, he too often wants to show he knows so much and that he’s right, but really the number of times the other commentator has to ignore him is quite a lot.

Dan's "false start" was a clutch issue, he didnt start early, the car creeped forward.
Fuck me with Logan Sargeant though, Dan built a 4.3 second gap to Stroll and nearly erased that penalty, so Logan crashes and relegates Dan to P13.
Dan then catches a slow Yuki with worn tyres and enough time to catch Stroll (probably not Alonso), but Yuki is a toddler at heart and fought Daniel so hard he fell off the track trying to keep him behind for ego reasons...
Why do I always support "underdogs"? I could support Piastri and be guaranteed to be happy in the next few years, but after the way he left Renault I apparently decided "nah, let's support the unluckiest driver on the grid who's strengths are developing a car ao his teammates can go onto glory, or saving his tyres so go real fast at the end of a race only to catch Magnussen who rather crash into every car on the grid multiple times than to allow someone to pass him cleanly even once - seriously, Kmag is a pro at ruining races for others and still achieving nothing himself, he's just lucky that sometimes his teammate is ahead so he can lie and say he was being a team player rather than just a giant c*nt...

Being a North American, I concur that there's far too much Danica in the F1 and IndyCar coverage. She adds just about zero to any broadcast. But I truly appreciated her as a dedicated driver. I recall seeing her in Indy Lights out in front of the team's hauler greeting dads who had brought their daughters to the track to meet her. Always did a great job as a team rep.

to be honest i like jacques when he does punditry. He offers something different, often wrong, but different compared to the arm around the shoulder type criticism from the other pundits. I like how he is blunt and honest it's quite entertaining and fresh.

The RB has some horrid clutch issues, everyone just looks at Ric because bandwagons are fun but Yuki has been losing the same amount of places as Dan has off the line this year. RB and Yuki have both confirmed they had clutch issues, and the false start was so incredibly miniscule that he didn't really get an advantage from it. Additionally RB has confirmed that the false start was a mechanical issues with the clutch.
Should really surprise no one, Max has been complaining about the gearbox for years now, it's just the RB is a worse car and doesn't recover as well as the RBR.

They didn’t lie to Ocon. They told him to move over for Gasly and Ocon told his engineers to tell the strategy team ‘do to what’s right’ Alpine never said that they’d swap the position backs.
Gasly was also 0.7 seconds behind Ricciardo when DR passed Ocon. He was 2 seconds behind when Ocon let him past, so play stupid games win stupid prizes I guess…
