Max Verstappen was thrown out of the 24 hours of Le Mans virtual because of 'server issues'
basically, imagine Abu Dhabi 2021, but for nerds
then he caused a bit of a scene as he went on a rant about the event and the people running it
saying it was a clown show and everybody should uninstall the game
ooooooo BURN
this caused a debate in the sim racing community
did max go too far with his rant?
should esports conduct this event on rfactor2?
should they have had better security in place to prevent people DDOSing the server?
but the real question these people need to ask themselves is why haven't you been outside in 2 months and what does the touch of a women feel like
anyway, I do an in depth analysis of the event and explain in great detail the catastrophe that unfolded.
also, teamLH found a way to make this all about them, because of corse they did
Abu Dhabi 2021 was over a year ago now but they are still crying about it lol
I think Michael Masi was behind this, maybe he chewed through the server wires like a little mouse
Correction: at 5:51 I make it out like this was Jimmys fault. While he did leak the teamspeak details, it wasn’t him who leaked the IP address, that was another team, however, apparently the IP address was always visible because rfactor2 is been run by actual vegetables. My bad for getting that wrong, I am a professional sports journalist and should do better. - Sport

Max's speech is basically what Leclerc would say if Ferrari didn't have their drivers at gun point
the fact that #TeamLH actually went and slagged off verstappen for an event that hamilton didn't even participate in really shows how much TeamLH is really just a verstappen hate club
Not true
As a Dutch man I rejoice in the fact that we dominated last season and pissed #TeamLH off so much, we hope this trend to continue forward in the oncoming season; whilst I love the English I can't stand your F1 fans.
Like I always say he's the man to end the lewis domination of course they won't like him, he's the don dadda right now
Both are great drivers just appreciate both drivers. I wish people would stop calling it a "rage quit". The team calmly discussed for like half an hour wether it makes sense to carry on and ultimately decided to retire. If that was a "rage quit", the Congress of Vienna was a rash decision.

Given all the headlines i saw about this... Max's reaction seems downright calm compared to what i was imagining.
It was calm, the team even discussed after the 2nd DC that cost them any chance of being able to win / make up places if they wanted to continue. The group decided to quit because they went from winning, to near last place but can fight back , to no chance at all, to why bother. In 3 disconnects, all of which were server / host side not client side. They didn't lose places because their hardware was having issues they lost because the host kept having technical issues and its a joke. I would have said less kind things, in a less composed manner after the 2nd DC.
he was incredibly calm. the team discussed it throughout and they collectively decided to retire instead of continuing, because there was no point. do note that max is the team principal of team redline, he has no need at all to race. he raced bc he wanted to, and the team asked him to, and it's a way of supporting them. he made valid points and it was all criticism that has been said before. suffering the same problems many many years in a row is unacceptable, the organisers and the platform have shown zero growth.
I like how this is a multi-million dollar exclusive event, and the servers about as reliable as a Halo game on launch day.
do I really have to say it?
which is bankrolled by a multi-B illion dollar company coming from a leader in the computer industry so they only learn from the best!
Don't you know how the Vydia industry works?
To be honest IP was public all the time, even before the 'leaks'. You could've search for the le mans virtual server in the game so it's organizers' fault
And it crashed soon after they enabled rain, which is a very intense feature process-wise. i'd take the DDOS attack claims with a pinch of salt.
Studio 397 have officially declared it was not a DDOS, it was the software being shite
Yes, clearly.

I agree, he went from winning to no chance at all because of technical issues that were not his own. It is one thing if you are about to win and your power goes out or your computer crashes, vs. you get repeatedly disconnected from the server because some chucklefucks are DDOS'ing it.
I’ve raged over much less 😂. I thought he was quite composed.
Although I say, the organizers are not at fault alone, the carelessness of some participants leaking the IP also contributed to it
I literally have destroyed equipment worth of thousands for exponentially smaller events getting fucked by disconnects.
My first thought was that TeamLH was responsible for the attack on the server, but then I remembered that they are sharing half a braincell amongst the bunch and probably don't even know how to spell DDOS.
They'd expect Lewis himself to do all the work and then go "yaayy WE did it, suck it Max, WE are the best" those lazy morons
LMFAOOOOO
Maybe they stole Jimmy's braincell to pull it off?
Sounds like a conspiracy 🧐
That wouldn't surprise me at all to be honest
Small note: Ever since its inception Le Mans Virtual suffered the same technical difficulties without the devs and organizers taking actions to prevent it. So it’s kind of understandable that after third time in a row being hit with technical difficulties Verstappen would ragequit.
Yeah, I also didn't really see any rage. He just quit?
That’s the whole issue I’m having with this too. He calmly explained what he thought was wrong about it all. Ok used some strong language here and there and apparently nobody can take that anymore. So they immediately call it a hissy fit. He was pissed, that’s it. Don’t believe he lost any sleep over it.
@@stoom9118 Uhm: "Rage Quit" = "Quit, because upset about something". No 'rage' (screaming or hitting stuff or something) required.
I think Max did the right thing, and said the right things. I Hope he finds a different competition organizer to race at.

6:24 this is not the case, while Jimmy did leak the teamspeak IP, the race server IP was easily accessible through Steam.
That's why i think the race should be in IRacing, at least it's better than RFactor 2. But thanks to the need of money, MotorSport Games has exclusive rights and we're stuck with RFactor 2 for many years.

Yeah I dont think it's fair showing Broadbent in this video - definitely paints him in a bad light when it was just the teamspeak that got leaked, which in itself is still not great but considering how much traction this channel gets, I would correct the video.
was it in a publicly available lobby??? wtffff what game is that
Quick correction!
The Organizers leaked the server. They forgot to turn off the setting that let's the session be private.
That's incredibly funny if true, imagine having a multi million dollar event set up and the guy who was responsible for setting up the server forgot to turn the session private.... that is incompetency at its finest.
"Steven Hawking going down a water slide" is hilarious! Made me and dad burst out laughing!
Also, bloody DDOS?! Come on! You'd think by now there would be a firewall or something to stop it... Ridiculous!
You'll be surprised how lacking this is in terms of servers. Even an SRO esports event was hit with DDoS attacks. They had to patch that gap in ACC as well. On the other hand, these things aren't really preventable, but people without pc knowledge often don't understand that. It isn't that simple.
A firewall isn't gonna stop that
It's mainly done by redirecting traffic.
You can't firewall out DDoS traffic. It's still going to bog down your line, even if you drop the packets. The problem is that it's impossible to tell at the ISP level which traffic is DDoS and which traffic is legitimate.
In addition, there's also the case of a lot of users and devices are behind a CGN now. So IP filtering is becoming less and less of a thing, because it's going to hit many users and devices.
A firewall isn't going to matter. Blizzard gets hit by a DDOS about once a month.

I think a hissy fit in the moment is quite normal for a competitor when something goes wrong that is not your fault. Can't really blame the guy for that.
DDOS attacks are the excuse that everyone always uses when something goes down. I doubt it is actually whats wrong in most cases but it is just an easy excuse to remove the blame.

Shocking how they had no provision against DDoS. As a nerd, they should have safelisted the IPs of the racers in the firewall, plus any others required for the back-end, and this wouldn’t have happened. Or phone’d CloudFlare who have their bread and butter in this area.
