Hot after the insult to audiences that was Artemis Fowl, Disney aka Emperor M is back with a new remake of yet another classic animated film, Mulan. And while it's not necessarily horrible or even bad (especially coming off of Gods of Egypt), it's not very good either-- it's just kinda pointlessly forgettable, a film nobody wants or needs, and definitely not worth 30 dollars. And so in today's Anatomy of a Failure, let's take a look at Mulan and compare it to some other similar films like Captain Marvel and Wonder Woman and How to Train Your Dragon to see what it does or doesn't do that prevents it from becoming more than just a vanilla cash grab. Here's how to build a cinematic meh.

Love the fact that chi is literally the ability to be able to control your breathing which is actually really harder than you think. Than turning the chi into magic. Good example is Atla’s chi blockers, they literally just stop your flow of blood in your circulation making you unable to bend/move.
Bruh moment be like
Mulan 2020 is ruined by the fact that she has magical chi powers. She starts off already a martial arts master even as a child just because she was born with these powers, which misses the point of the original. Instead of proving she can do anything, she already can and just pretends she can't to fit in.
In the original, Mulan was a teenage girl living in an extremely patriarchal society with clearly defined gender roles. She had to struggle to prove she could do anything a man could do, and the fact that she overcomes such adversity is what makes her a compelling character. And you might notice she does very little actual fighting in the original, but instead manages to save the day through craftiness, proving you don't need stereotypically masculine traits (i.e., brute strength, combat skills) to be a hero.
Nu-Mulan doesn't struggle with anything except hiding the fact that she has magic chi powers. She doesn't have to prove that she's just as capable as a man because she manages to outperform all of them without any practice or training thanks to trait she was born with and didn't have to develop or learn how to use. And instead of using her wits to save the day at the end, she just unleashes her inherent superpowers and uses brute force to sword fight all the bad guys.
And the fact that Nu-Mulan's abilities don't come from training or experience but instead from some magic power she was just born with has unfortunate implications. It's like saying, "Hey girls! You can do anything a man can do, as long as you have fictional superpowers that is!"
This is supposed to be empowering?
One of the things I "like" about this version is that there are no songs. You know, because that makes it more faithful to the BALLAD (I.e, a musical). Not only that, there's a witch as well. A concept that's completely foreign to the Eastern audiences. They could've written her as a spirit or an oni, but instead is written as a bird witch that wants to be accepted by society. And this is supposed to be more realistic than the animated version..?
So is a Mulan 2020 episode in the works?
The newer model of Mulan might be closer to what China wants to show its audience.
Great review. To think they skipped out on all that actual empowerment just to avoid her being trained by a man. Thats the basis behind many of these "new" movies. Ghostbusters 2016 for example was suppose to be a passing of the torch. Instead Amy Pascal of Sony overruled Ivan Reichman because they couldn't have men as the ones who invented the tech. Women need to do everything on their own, with no help from men. In fact men must be seen as dumb or evil. Many recent movies have followed what comes down to a set of rules so as to be considered safe and progressive.
Wow Possum, that actually made sense. Filmento, and now you, were the last seals of disapproval I need not to watch this Disney cash-grab. 1998 Mulan is still one of my favourite Disney renaissance movies and I'm always hopeful that they won't f*ck it up, but alas...

I don't think making the movie almost like the cartoon one is bad. The problem is she is way too good of a fighter, she can fly and kill bunch of bad dudes. In the original, she is still a WOMAN. But she is damn smart. So she overcame the challenges by being smart. Like tying the weights together so that she can climb the tree, using the avalanche to defeat the army, using fireworks to kill the big boss, bath while others are sleeping, etc. Because before the start of the battle, she has never done any fighting, so do a lot of her friends at the camp. At the end of the camp, they are all just good enough. They are all super afraid at the start of the battle because this is their first time in a war, including Mulan.
the bath scene was in the original
My favorite part of the original Mulan was when she was sent home because she couldn’t keep up with the rest of the men. Instead of leaving she used the weights to climb the pole no one else could and get the arrow no one else could.
THAT is an empowered woman and for me as a six year old girl, that was what made me feel like I could do anything through perseverance and determination. The new version tells girls they can accomplish anything IF they have magic bullshit powers.
Exactly why didnt they even add that part 🤦♂️🤦♂️it is an inspiring scene
Exactly.
@@obukohwoogheneakpobo3011 because if that scene was in this movie she would have just toe jumped up to the top of the pole while spinning the weights over her head, and gracefully landed on the top.
Yes, that was such a wonderful part of the movie, I loved it! Particularly since she did it with BRAINS, overcoming her lack of brawn.
And the scene where Mulan’s friends join her to save the emperor. A squad of soldiers on a mission working together.
"Everything is easy" this is the reason why modern "female empowerment" movies fail. Women these days aren't allowed to fail, get hurt, or make mistakes with lasting consequences. It's getting really tiresome.
Senior Woodz - Absolutely.
The movie is like: You can be recognised as a woman only if you are born with special powers.

Not to mention that Liu Yifei's acting is worst than subpar: she's the acting equivalent of a rock. Mainland Chinese audiences think she's one of the worst actresses, while Wuxia writer Louis Cha said something along the lines of "She's pretty, but because she's so deathly afraid of being ugly, she wouldn't dare make a facial expression" when one of his novels was being adapted into live-action and she was cast in it.
So she would have fit if Mulan was... Y'know, just your bog-standard demure Chinese housewife?
@Proud Biscuit Eater cmon, zhao wei is too old to be a mulan
Basically, Disney didn't even want to put in the effort to cast a decent actress. They just picked whatever Chinese actress they could find and didn't consider her acting skill. Apparently in China they rate Liu Yifei as one of the worst actresses in the country.
The movie is far way shittier than Filmento had the guts to say. He is probably too afraid and also because he loves stale moral clichés that he likes to classify as "character development", instead of pseudo-intellectual garbage.
I looked at her facial expression(or lack thereof) and I immediately thought of Kristen Stewart. 😂

Commander in the remake: "Lol whatever, guess it's fine. You'll lead our march."
He's main reason to let her live was because she'd just saved his life hence why he says "A life for a life, My Debt is repaid"
Disney:we are for exclusivity and against racism
Also disney:filmed movie in concentration camp.
Exactly. Hard to support such a morally bankrupt company.
Consider, Disney has openly said, "we're not sure if we can continue filming in Georgia" based on the frequent lies told by the Biden Administration about the new law. Yet they saw no problem whatsoever filming next to an actual slave camp.
Yikes.
The original Mulan is a masterpiece.
Mulan 2020 is an insult and a disaster.
Thos movie is an insult to both the animated movie and the original poem this was supposed to be based upon
@LTNetjak The original Mulan was an epic story about an ordinary person who did something extraordinary: Save the country of China. And in the end, she brings honor not just her country and family, but to herself, vindicating her self-worth. Also, along the way, she meets friends and overcomes obstacles which make her stronger in the process.
Also, Mushu is awesome and Eddie Murphy is a treasure.
The remake basically strip all that away to tell a retelling that will be forgotten in a few days.
@LTNetjak exactly. The original is neatly written and ince the start shows Mulan's strenghts: from the chickens scene to she trying to fix the matchmaker disaster on the fly we know Mulan is a witty and dynamic character and she keep it like this until the very end but with the difference that not only she accepts it as qualities and not flaws but the people around her also do. One of my favorite parts in the palace battle is when her squad put the fabrics around the poles to climb exactly like she did at the camp, a quick callback very effective in showing how her impact goes beyond just "being a warrior, bringing honor".
Precisely, Mulan was always a role model to me, as she showed me that girls could be anything that they put their mind to, and not what mainstream society plans for them to be. This movie seems to preach, "Yes, you can succeed, but only if you have incredible superpowers!" 🤦🏻♀️
All of the remakes are insults! None of them have even come close to the originals!
Having been born & raised in Hawaii, I’m honestly SCARED to see how they’re gonna ruin ‘Lilo & Stitch’! I’m sure Lilo is gonna end up being a little white girl, instead of a brown skinned Hawaiian girl or mixed local girl like in the cartoon, & I’m almost positive Stitch is gonna be an utter monstrosity!
Your "meh" review is basically the highest rating for this movie on youtube.
Filmento forgot about the magical qi powers that erased most of the original story and dropped this from "meh" to "puke."
yeah that just nice version... what i think... cheap chinese moive with abit of big budget set.. which will be reused in other chinese movie... so what am i looking at?
@Oxnate honestly the Qi powers would be a good addition if everyone had some level of it. Like not even to the same amount as Mulan so that the protagonist can still remain special, but enough that everyone can easily do crazy martial arts. This film goes crazy on certain scenes like flip kicking an arrow, but since only a handful of people can actually do this stuff it gets wasted a lot of the time, and we just get generic action in it place.
If you want an amazing example of how to do this look at Into the Badlands. That show goes crazy with its martial arts to the point of ridiculousness, but since almost everyone can do these things not only does it ground the show a bit more, it allows them to fantastical fight scenes without it feeling like whiplash when people just start running up a wall.
Sean Chandler liked the movie.
@@campkira cheap chinese movie is better than this. dont fool yourself.
The reason the original Mulan works for me while this one doesn’t, is the animated Mulan feels like she has a personality, she doesn’t just already have a skill she genuinely has to work for it, the pay off of Mulan becoming a great warrior is amazing because we watch her grow and become strong as a normal person

There you have it folks.
There’s only one “Chosen One” Story I like and that’s Anakin Skywalker’s story.
I don’t like chosen one plots much because it conflicts with the concept of free-will as the main problem but I do like Anakin’s Chosen one story a bit more than the others because of how sick and twisted it is compared to everything else. It’s an INVERSION of the trope. Anakin is fated to kill off all the Sith and bring balance to the force but in order for him to do that, he himself has to become a Sith and kill himself along side palpatine.
It’s not just that he has to kill Sidious, he has to kill himself as well because he is the ultimate villain and hero of the story in a crazy fucked up way.
I like that because it’s so twisted, morbid, and something you would never expect for the main character whose “supposed” to be a hero but has to deliberately fall from grace to make it happen but it’s fascinating because of it.
Most chosen one plots have a happy ending with the hero doing something great and heroic, gets the girl, get married, and live a happily ever after, but for Anakin, he has to be desperate enough to become evil, lose everything he loves and become depressed, become a genocidal tyrant who has all the power he wants in the galaxy but nothing he needs, and do a whole a bunch of evil actions like mass murder instill the right moment for him to complete the prophecy where he and his master has to die by killing himself and sidious.
Imagine a prophecy where you have to kill yourself after doing evil things at the right time to be claimed the hero?
That’s crazy to me and I love it for it.

I'll take that Anakin example one step further: the prophecy said he would restore balance to the Force. Not destroy the Sith, not lead the Jedi to victory. Restore balance.
Now, I don't believe that the Jedi have to be destroyed for there to be balance -- nor do I think they have to be counterbalanced by the Sith, locked in this twisted cycle of mutual destruction. But. I do think that the Jedi Order had fallen out of balance, and that Anakin's destroying (and therefore restarting) it was also part of the prophecy. The Jedi were just so sure they were the good guys they never took a closer look at how that prophecy might play out for them.

Something I adore about the animated film: it is unapologetically a tale about a daughters love for her father. It's not about "girl power", Mulan actually grows as an individual. She was incompetent as a bachelorette and she was incompetent as a soldier too, but she knew she had to push through. She didn't do things because she's so stunning and brave, she literally felt that her old fathers life is more important than hers stemming from her belief that she is a failure.
Her father wakes up KNOWING she is going to be killed and he realized that his behavior was rash. When he sees his daughter again he is over the moon happy for her return. He realizes that "honor" is SECOND to his family, not first. We can see that because he starts of putting honor first.
So we have a beautiful subtextual tale of a daughter and fathers love for each other witch is then thrown away in favor of girl power. Very underwhelming way to reimagine the tale is what 2020 Mulan has been
Something I personally really like about the original is that it explores gender struggles very tastefully. As a guy, there are elements that spoke to me as well. It didn't only highlight the absurdly restricting societal expectations put on women, but also men. The fact that even an old an limping man felt the need to prove his manhood through fighting (or rather dying) for his country, highlights societal expectations put on men. To me, the way men, who have been trying to act tough so far, had to disguise as very feminine women at the end to infiltrate the palace, is also a subtle jab at ideals of manhood. Ultimately, it had a lot more than "girl power" going on, which made the story more relatable. And the parts that are "girl power" are completely earned and not bestowed onto her due to magic.
A young woman who loves and respects the most important man in her life?
Oh my God, the internalised misogyny!!
Mickey the Maniac I like the eloquence if you’re assessment. It’s true that men are exclusively expected to serve and go to war for their country. It’s true that both sexes have faced different hardships that culminate in instances where obviously too old and too injured for war father is expected to enlist and the daughter is expected to be a good wife.
I like that it isn’t overt “girl power” as in the whole women can do anything nonsense that is the only thing producers feel they can allow a woman character to have. You’re right, her strength is earned. It’s an amazing film because it’s earned, almost everyone relates to making sacrifices to make a goal happen. That’s visceral and human. No one can relate to “girl power” because it’s just a platitude. There’s nothing earned and nothing gained and a huge meh to watch in a movie
Goth Mog your comment is as sad as it is witty. I hope in my lifetime I can see (good) men and fathers celebrated and beloved the way they should.
@@queenofsiam1183 thank you, my lady, and that wish is mutual.
As a survivor of an intensely toxic family full of abusive, violent and manipulative women and simping men, and the son of a mostly decent man, I love seeing good fathers in stories. The "evil abusive dad" is one of the most infuriating and overused cliches in fiction, to my chagrin.

holy crap that comparison at 15:10 to 15:33 is gold. The animation is way more epic. The music; the long, panning shot of the massive army, their roars are more powerful even from a greater distance, the angles used are so much more dynamic. what the frig! wow! good call with that one.
And then note that it's Mulan's actions that cause the avalanche in the original compared to the other soldier's actions that cause the avalanche in the remake.
Still hate how she took off her armor she can still be a strong woman and wear armor at the same time

Anna Banana ahhhh beat me to it
everyone knows the only effective armour is the metal bra
Ironic since it's exactly the wrappings she used to bind her breasts that literally saved her from a shuriken by acting as armor.
The movie itself shows a scene where her pretending to be male flatout saved her life and then immediately plays it off as a bad thing.

10:04 "this is actually a problem that wasn't explored in the original movie" cuz she wasn't constantly trying to hide her entire body from them the whole time, and not only that but they actually did the shower scene, where one of the guys did a cannonball right next to mulan
Yeah, his point was that the live action movie had a chance to explore something new. But didn't.

Hoo boy did we even watch the same movie? The writing, editing, and acting was anything but "competent"
Yea... he really took it easy. The movie was bs, and he says that the witch character was good, but it’s stupid. She gives her life because she is so blindly stupid I mean imagine killing ur self because a girl was in the army. Omg. So epic. "Meh" would imply that there is anything at all good about it. There is not a single thing that Mulan gets right. The story was screwed up, the editing is all over the place, none of the characters were memorable and the agenda was pushed so much into the viewer's face, it's fused with their sinuses. Plus the main lead is as horrible an actor as she is a person.
There is literally zero character development in 2020 Mulan. She doesn’t have to struggle to achieve her goals, she doesn’t have to work hard to become a good fighter. She already has flawless skills thanks to conveniently having magical powers that allow her to kick all the butt she wants with zero effort or struggle. She starts at point A and ends at point A. She also has no personality to speak of besides her powers. You could cast a magical cardboard box in her place and you would get the same viewing experience.
The 1998 Mulan will always be one of my favorite Disney characters ever. She was interesting, likeable, and had funny/awkward moments. She started out at a significant disadvantage compared to the men in camp, and there were several moments of failure before she worked her way to success. One of the most inspiring parts of the movie is when you see her sitting on the top of the pole as the sun rises, because you’ve just seen how much she struggled previously and how much work she had to put in to prove herself.
So basically, take away everything good from the 1998 version and you get this movie. “Meh” is probably being generous.

They have reversed most of the values and ideas the original Mulan depicted:
- comradeship has been replaced, current Mulan is just an IndEpEndent, StrOnK and BrAvE wOmaN
- her strongest trait was her brain and she always outsmarted her opponents, she was physically the weakest of the band (and it's alright, it's called a FLAW), not a goddess with super cheat powers
- she struggled during the various exercises given during the training, not in this movie since again she's flawless and invincible

The main problem with all these so called "Women empowerment" movies is that their message is not the a woman can be anything, its that a woman can be everything. A woman can be the smartest, fastest, strongest and basically perfect in every way usually just because she is a woman. She doesn't have to train, she doesn't have to study, she has no flaws, unless that flaw is like this Mulan in that she isn't showing how great she really is, and everyone else around her is just there to clap and be in awe of her. That's not only a wrong message to send its actually a very dangerous one.

1) Women can get pregnant. This is important for the survival of the tribe, city state, country,... And so are too VALUABLE to risk on the field of battle.
2) women can get pregnant and are thereafter for 3-6 months unable to fight as efficiently
3) women are, on average, less fysical capable (strenght, reactionspeed,....) as men.
Do i need to continue?
Granted there are always exceptions and i don't mean to say women can't fight, just that in history, most rules didn't see the use or didn't want to take the risk.
Bruh, you know these "female empowerment" movies don't use facts and logic.
Thank you! Thats exactly the point. A village could have 90% of their male population die and still bounce back up in a couple generations. If 90% of females died, then they were wiped out.
Women have been extremely precious throughout history, and thats partly why they’ve been kept away from conflict and competitive environments from the world. Things only changed because our society has evolved so much there’s ways to circumvent this dangers now. Its not sexism.
@@Jefstito Glad to know not alone in this.
Yeah genius, THAT should be established in the bloody movie. When I see a movie, I don't research ancient China, no matter how obvious it is
There are also arbitrary cultural norms and laws though. Feet binding in order to achieve tiny feet -- said to be desirable but in actuality arbitrary and grotesque. In Japan, people who were tanners and butchers were considered to be foul and impure. They were stigmatized and came to comprise their own social caste apart from the rest of society, the Eta. To be around Eta was disgusting and one needed to bathe afterward.
I don't agree that being breeding slaves was a main reason for women not fighting, though. Civilized societies like China and late medieval Europe existed in a state of Malthusian population dynamics. Their populations would be pressed up against the carrying capacity of the land so that, on net, no additions to the population could be made. Many of the lower class peoples were impoverished and starving as a matter of course. It was unavoidable.
Far from causing women to be valued HIGHLY, these dynamics had the opposite effect. Women were regarded as having low value, as their breeding ability was of less use than the industrial capacity of Man. In China, the boat people, who spent their whole lives on boats because they were so poor, would tether their boy children to the boats so as not to lose them, but they would not tether the girls. The girls were worthless. A liability. They would not earn as much as boys, and earning capacity outweighed breeding potential.
That women get pregnant is definitely a reason why they tended to be dissuaded from many skilled professions. People won't want to invest as much in teaching them to do difficult things if there's a high chance they'll get pregnant and put all that tutelage to waste.
Other reasons are that mixed-sex work environments bring up the risk of fraternization, especially if they have to sleep together like in an army camp or the hull of a ship or something. And women just aren't as ambitious as men -- testosterone correlates with ambition. They also have less upper body strength which would be a major handicap in many historical lines of work, as most labor relied on muscle power back then.

Maybe I say all this because I wasn’t born in the time when the original was released, but while I’ve seen that one, this one was still a good watch for me
I'm trying to imagine the lessons this film espouses in an office atmosphere.
"Nah, she doesn't need help. If she can't keep up without help she's obviously not dedicated enough - you either are or you aren't after all. Let's just hire a more dedicated employee."
There is a lot objectively wrong here
and people pointed out that that the Film-Making
is beneath Amateur-Level. Things like Camera-Use
and many whole 'fields' of technic-stuff.
As a woman should I feel inspired by all these movies with an independent strong woman as a lead? Because I'm incredibly bored. The message of those movies are basically "women good men bad". That is not realistic. Reality is more complex than that and people are not black or white. We have our strengths and weaknesses, virtues and flaws, emotions, etc. Both women and men. There is no excuse to have such bland and basic characters

Good thing for you there's plenty of older movies with female leads that display female empowerment through great story telling.. And they don't feel forced.
I wish Hollywood would realize that they don't need to make their females lead perfect, because no one is perfect guy or women, we all have our faults..
When they make their characters perfect it makes it impossible for us as an audience to empathize with them.
Courage Under Fire is a good movie about a strong woman in a military role traditionally reserved for men.
@@sjbrooksy45 @Александра Шелехова I'll give them a watch! thanks
Your take on this seems also bland and generic. What fails in some movies now it’s not that “women good men bad”, it’s that, in order to showcase female empowerment, they sacrifice proper character development, resorting on making female characters Mary Sues and one dimensional.
the songs? gone
mushu? gone
struggling during training, which shows character flaws but adds a sense of reliability because no one's perfect? gone
a brave girl who uses her wits to outsmart her enemy? not even here.
a shlocky, mediocre fantasy flick that stars a boring mary sue? yep, it's all here. my childhood has been dishonored.
Dishonor on their cow.
That’s because it’s not based on the animated movie, it’s based on the original poem
I'm Sorry for Being Kind that’s why I said based
Not having songs was a plus, tho.
Along with your cow.
There's a dead simple explanation of why movies like that happen so often. When a movie starts with a passionate artist wanting to tell a story, it's not necessary good but it's likely to be unique and therefore entertaining. When a movie starts with a company looking to capitalize on some intellectual property they own, it's going to be very band most of the time.
Had no idea ancient China had fully working showers 🚿 in the barracks.
Disney is basically Shang Tsung from Mortal Kombat. If there's a soul, they'll take it out.
You mean Shang Tsung?
Aldo Meylano Your soul is mine.
@@darekbaird "Your cash and nostalgia are mine!"
Except, after decades, Shang Tsung is still likeable.
It HAS begun!!!!.........,to suck
I find it hilarious that there was no Mushu "for realism", all the while having a WITCH that can morph into multiple animals, and a damn phoenix. Realistic indeed.
That part really bothers did they ever explain why they changed their mind without telling anyone and instead of going realistic they went full on superhero paranormal?
@@diegogatjens3023 skinwalker is a term specific to Navajo so if they do exist it's not in China. And if you believe in witches but not the cutout ancestor spirits idk
@@diegogatjens3023 no dude Skinwalker is a specific Navajo thing they aren't just shapeshifting witches that's one element of what they are and they're personal to the Navajo. It's not a general term a witch that changes shape it's not comparable.
If you take enough drugs, a phoenix, witch, talking dragon etc etc can all become real to you... So I am guessing the writers for this movie took a lot of drugs but not enough to have a real talking dragon...
I dunno
Another thing is dragons in chinese culture are more connected with masculine ideas. So by having a male ancestors in a dragons body not only endorse but actively support her being herself, encouraging her to find creative solutions to her problems for herself would have been a pretty powerful narrative device.
Excellent analysis. Nicely done.
I love your take on this. Really shows it a new angle.
When you said the battle ended in a deus ex machina snowfall, I was ready to say "How dare you! That was not an ex machina, it was mulan's high point in the army, where she uses her wits to save their lives and win an unwinnable fight!"
Then I remembered, it was like that in the original. In this garbage, it was really an ex machina.
This is about the nicest possible way to say that a movie sucks.
This movie sucks.
Anybody who spent $30 on this film got completely robbed of their hard-earned cash. Disney ought to be ashamed of themselves!
Where's YourMovieSucksDotOrg ?
Should have listened to Angry Joe
@Robot Rock real Mulan fans *don't watch this garbagefest at all
very few people paid for this
@@rocketsmall4547 From what I have heard about it, I wouldn't even watch this movie for FREE...
"She's physically unlike everyone else, it's a problem that wasn't explored in the original movie" that's false, there's a whole scene with Mulan bathing naked in the lake and the other soldiers coming in and jumping naked in the water as well.
Was wondering how no one picked that up
Also when the general enters the medical tent and discovers Mulan is a woman and nearly executes her, also when Mulan struggles physically at the beginning and has to try even harder than the other soldiers
@@hareecionelson5875 yeah in the animated movie she does not have super powers, she has cleverness at best so she does have to work harder to be on the level. But nooo let's pretend an everage woman are as strong as an average man.
My headcanon - the witch pretends to die in the end, but in truth she'd actually morphed into the Emperor before Mulan arrived (she can be whole flocks of birds, don't tell me she can't be a hawk and a man at the same time). Mulan saves the "Emperor" and the witch goes on to rule China with a woman as her most famous general. Gradually, Mulan gets closer and closer to the Witch Emperor emotionally, with the witch trying to use Mulan to accomplish her own ends, even as Mulan pushes back and convinces her to do things that are better for the country. Eventually, they fall so in love that the Witch reveals herself to Mulan. Mulan has to grapple with the idea that the Emperor she has been serving so faithfully, the man she's fallen in love with, has actually been the enemy all along. Etc. Etc. and it becomes a sapphic love story for the ages.
Wait, what? A Uyghur Concentration Camp is not a "cool, flashy location"? Since when?
saying east TURKestan is a concentration camp?
