I'm based in the Scottish Highlands and I use a VW campervan to access the great outdoors, where I climb hills, ride my e-bike or gravel bike and just visit some of those places I've never been to. I've been climbing hills and mountains all over the world for 50 years and I'm a former editor of Climber Magazine and The Great Outdoors Magazine.

This is one of the most underrated areas of Scotland but in my opinion a hidden gem. I have been enchanted with it ever since we took a holiday house with another family probably about fifty years ago. I remember buying a knife with a sheath from the local shop with my holiday money something in this day and age that is not allowed. I camped around there the first weekend we were allowed too after the foot and mouth outbreak in the early 2000's and we were warmly welcomed I suppose people were glad to see tourists back. We have friends in fact the children of the other family that we holidayed with fifty years ago who have a holiday home near Moffat who let us stay when it is not booked or are using it themselves which is brilliant for canoeing, mountain biking and walking so my love affair with the area continues to this day.

We love Dumfries and Galloway and have been visiting since 1993, so much so that we are buying a cottage in Dalbeattie 👏👏

Great series! Always good to find new aires. The Green Frog looks like it's been smartened up, was looking a bit tired last time we were there.

Hi, I watched a Utube video a few months ago where a couple in their motor home were hassled by a local in his blue VW van delibetatly sounding his horn during the night to try and move them on. This was at Isle of Whithorn.

What a perfect timing! I’m on my way from Glencoe to Newcastle to take the ferry back home to Germany. As I want to go and see Hadrian’s Wall on the way the Aire in Moffat is just what I was looking for. Thank you for that video, keep on with your work and all the best to you, Fiona

Great video Cameron, will pay them a visit sometime. We like the carpark in New England Bay just outside the Caravan &Motorhome site. There’s an Elsan point there, and you can get freshwater. We normally spend two nights there, then head to Port Logan and park up there for a night. The Port Logan Fish pond is well worth a visit. We then head down to the Mull of Galloway and enjoy the views.
We enjoy the walk from New England Bay to Dunmore, Scotlands most southerly town. But sadly Dumfries and Galloway put up no overnight parking signs in everyone of their car parks last year. Normally although these signs have no legal standing we don’t park there, but I have decided to make an exception of these carparks, and will continue to park there. Thanks for the video Cameron, and I sincerely hope you are feeling better now after the big op.
