#Classics #Generations #Mirage - Zábava
Dude has a better seeker chest than most actual seekers
Hasbro has no excuse at this point not to give us a correct transforming speaker mold at this point we've seen it done with blitz wing and ss72 Starscream 🙃
@@minerva_the_protogen ya got what ya want? Ya got ER which a lotta people ain’t a fan of
Yeah sorry for releasing this so late. Came down with a stomach bug two days before release.
Awwww I hope your tummy is doing better now hun
Feel better man!
It’s a great mold, but I prefer it as Fracture/Crasher than as Mirage. It just fits her more for some reason imo
I love it when Transformers heads peak out the windshield!
With things like articulation, transformation, attention to details, and car mode are done great (and thats coming from someone who still likes Siege robot, and car mode more).
But as for the rest,....
The anatomy is a bit wierd, don t get me wrong it still works... But at least to me not as an Mirage (and thats coming someone who isn t a G1-er. And to be honest, Movie Crasher is the best looking version of this mold, in my opinion). Plus the head...
Say anything bad about Siege version all you want.... but we can bouth agree that Siege has better desighned head, them Classics. And no, Im not conplaing about the size, but the desighn.
And as for Mr Pick axe..... I be more them happy to see you do a review for this Old bugger 😁
ive had my eyes set on the Dragstrip version of the mold as my definitive dragstrip
I've always loved this figure. I like the idea this is an "Unhinged" Mirage who has become a War Sniper shooting both Deceptions & Autobots he deems "responsible" for the War starting & continuing.
I like to think the rear wing is some sort of active wing mechanism, which explains why it's not locked.
DRS
@@rexthewolf3149 That and air brakes
@@ian1231100 that it could be but f1 cars do have an active wing system now. But I don’t think they did back when they toy came out
just got one second hand today and love it. The wing can even be left on in robot mode if you really want it to it just barely (and i mean barely) gets in the way of the hips in more extreme poses and creates a very tiny gap in his side. So really in my books its fully optional partsforming.
I loved this mirage when I was a kid
Amazing transformation and look
He really is a great figure 😊 will always be happy with mine. Another Great video!
I actually decided to aquire this figure thanks to this video. I wanted to add a Mirage to my collection for some time, but wasn't sure where to go, especially after deciding to pass on siege Mirage. But after watching this I decided to give it a shot and order one, and I absolutely love it. Yeah, it has it's issues, but they pale in comparison to how amazing this figure is. Both modes look phenomenal, and transformation is really quick and fun. So thank you for making this video, because without it I woldn't be able to find my definite Mirage.
Great review as always Doc, may have convinced me to replace my siege Mirage with this one
It's rare that an older figure ends up replacing a newer one, but this is one case where that should really work
Ay I saw you got your grimlock, hope you enjoy it 🙂👍🏻
Love Darkmount to a metric tonne of a degree.
Would definitely love to hear a review.
I've recently acquired the Fracture repaint for 20 bucks, and it's even BETTER
Love to see a darkmount review
I agree. This figure is super underrated. It's an excellent figure!
I got one of these last year!! Prior to this, I was using RID 2001 Spychanger Mirage as my G1 stand-in (it's not documented, but you can snuggly fit his gun on his should to create the look of the G1 shoulder-cannon).
Spychangers are a lot of fun
9:42 I never once had that issue nor felt like I'd have that issue with that toy
I personally quite like the front splitter becoming a crossbow. It's a creative idea and, in my opinion, a good use of kibble when putting it anywhere else would ruin the aesthetic.
It could've worked if they'd changed the sculpting on the handle maybe
@@DrLockdown Yep. As it is it looks a bit off, as if it isn't meant to be there.
I still have my version of this figure, and I do still love it.
But that gun always bothered me, if only the front wing halves folded down together to form a magazine like shape instead of just Mirage holding a wing I feel it would have just made so much better.
Will always love this figure though, it's great.
Also you may not know but you can store the gun on that rear piece of blue (the "roof" of the car piece that sits on his lower back) you can push the tab into the slot.
It's not a great looking holster but it's nice they gave him the option.
just got Dragstrip and I need the original now or the henkei which do you recommend
I think the Hasbro one, because it has all the tampongraphs.
Although the henkei one has Chrome, so that may be more up your alley
I like how the slender body of his robot mode almost resembles something from Transformers Animated.
the hunchback of velocitron
I own the Henkei version of this mold and it looks even better than the OG figure the only problem is the lack of decals
I would def love to see you review Straxus if enough people also agree :0
3:27 wait that’s a transformer
His name is exhaust he is a repaint of wheeljack and he is some kind of space pirate i think
This has always been one of my favorite Classics toys, and yeah personally I don't like Siege Mirage either. I only actually like the Netflix one because it reminds me of that 2007 Allspark Power Jolt toy and for the lack of clear plastic legs.
Also fun fact, Classics Mirage and Optimus had the same designer! So no wonder they're probably the two best from the era.
Both of them, as well as Sideswipe also had an influence on some of the designs in later IDW comics.
I wonder what your thoughts on the Kingdom remold. Looks like some of the kibble issues have been fixed. I still will have caution tho.
Looks clunky as hell, but I'm willing to give it a chance.
Mirage was the first Classics figure I ever got and he's still a mainstay in my collection. I have the Siege figure but this one easily beats that one easily as my fave.
Most WFC figures demolish their older counterparts, but oddly enough that wasn't the case here
I think a video of straxus/darkmount would be cool. Could you shout out the skullgrin repaint at some point?
Never got him I'm afraid, plus I'm not a fan of the look
Did you just say Gundam 00
Aaaaaand.... subscribed
I want a dark mount review pls, I’m also getting the figure to.
Between your points regarding RTS Jazz and this Mirage, I think what they, and IMPO, Generations Rhinox, achieve over their current versions, is the feel of the character. Deviation from the source appearance is fine if it adds to the feel of the character, and is creative in its engineering in the process. We definitely still feel beholden to show accuracy, but not so much that we sacrifice otherwise inaccurate design elements that still make the toy fun and interesting in look and playability.
Funny how your points on Jazz and Mirage help me with my conflicted feelings over Kingdom Rhinox. Thanks!
@A guy with an anime Profile Pic Because I can Kingdom Cheetor never really bothered me sculpting-wise. Many other things, like the retail release's paint and choosing to give him his Transmetal form's weapon instead of any of his two guns certainly do, but sculpting was fine to me. Nothing about Primal bugs me, thankfully.
But it's Rhinox that, to me, seems the most off sculpting wise among the Kingdom Beast Wars cast. Head shape isn't quite right, looking like he's balding with huge 19th century mutton chops.
And while faux parts don't bother me if done right, as Classics Mirage here proves, not only does Rhinox's jaw chest it LOOK fake, there's nothing that indicates it NEEDED to BE fake, same as Hot Rod, but thankfully not the case for Rodimus.
What kills me the most is the size of the Chainguns of Doom. I already thought the Generations' barrels were already edging on being a smidge undersized, only saved by the size of the buzzsaw muzzles covering the hands. These ones feel even smaller.
Again, ER Starscream gets to reuse an old engineering with mixed results, but Ultra Magnus and Rhinox don't get to reuse their older and better ones?
I'm skipping the new rhinox and hunting down the T30 one.
@@DrLockdown Good luck with your hunt! Hope you don't have to pay a pretty penny for even just the Hasbro...let alone either of the Takara ones.
But, I'm curious, what is it about Kingdom Rhinox that throws you off?
I have a big amount of nostalgia for the classics and universe 2.0 era, it was like juuuuust before when I started collecting and I always remember hunting them down at collectible stores. Classics megatron is probably one of, if not the absolute best shellformer and I really enjoy more obvious ones like classics seekers or universe hound and cyclonus.
But I do feel like anytime I compare them to modern figures or try to they just don't stack up, no matter how much I like or appreciate the older ones, the newer stuff is just so much better and more expressive. Better headsculpts, articulation, paint, weapons (most of the time *cough, cough* wheeljack). I've since tried to just look at them separately and just enjoy both as different eras trying to do different things, despite Siege astrotrain being one of my favorite leaders, I still look around for the henkei astro because they aren't the same character in my head.
I want the Crasher repaint I should have grabbed from walmart the three times I held it one of my favorite Go bot characters
I actually like the gun, the crossbow look is pretty cool
I've always wanted the Fracture version, because is obvious that they're going to do another Mirage, but not a Go-Bots homage.
hope you can track her down, shes my fave version of the mold
When I replaced my Classics Mirage with the Seige version, I kept the Fracture recolor of the mold since the mold is more fitting for that character.
I got Siege Mirage in his stealth mode in the pack with Impactor and the Powerdasher Cog (not bothered to learn the name). It’s not so bad in a three pack, not so sure I’d have bought him in the Netflix or standard deco by himself, though.
I can never go for those clear redecos. Durability issues aside, I don't like the aesthetic
3:42 Mac!
It doesn’t really look like Mirage, but it does look really cool. I think this in other colors would be awesome.
Other than the robot mode, this is a pretty good figure!
I think the robot mode is pretty good as well. Although I do admit that it's strengths lie more in the articulation and less in the design.
I think the design is one of the strong points
I like the idea of what they were doing, but they took it a bit too far. It's way too skinny for my liking
@@DrLockdown Only thing I don't like about it is the placement of the head being right between his shoulders, which combined with the lanky proportions makes him look like the owner of the Leaky Cauldron in the third Harry Potter movie.
4:57 this man rocks out to sea shanty’s and you can’t tell me otherwise
Nah. Mostly bagpipe metal
@@DrLockdown he sounds like one of the guys to sing The Tempest
Dammit I want the gobot repaint of this now, thank you
You're welcome :p
Nothing beats the Classics but I wish I had that Mirage.
I doubt the upcoming earth mode version is going to do better
@@DrLockdown Like I said,Nothing beats the Classics.
Actually based on the diaclone version of wheeljack. He's supposed to have Marlborough logos, but they can't do that these days for obvious reasons
Let's see a straxus review.
I was today years old when I really energon Prowl was meant to reference Mirage
ah the classics line, I grew up with CHUG and I cant agree more with your takes, wonder what you think about the CHUG mold seekers.
They're decent. The articulation is a smidge dated, but the rest works well
Obligatory comment for algorithm boosts! Keep up the great work!
When are we getting a haslab unicron review?
At least a month from now. I want to make sure I can go as in depth as possible.
Plus I've got other plans first
Is that haslab unircon? Didn't think you backed it hehe
Us Aussies were able to pay it off as we waited.
If Hasbrouck remake the classics mirage with current articulation and abit changes to the mid body, he could be perfect
I'm sure someone on shapeways could fix some upgrades up
KRAKAOOM!! TODAYS MY BIRTHDAY BOTS & CONS!
Bappy hirthday
we need a decepticon that’s a red repaint of mirage
Hopefully eventually from the kingdom one, since it's one of the last diaclone releases we need. It'll probably be an Autobot though, since they could call it Dino as a DOTM homage
What is the FP Racing a reference to?
Taken from TFwiki - "Other logos, which include "Plasma Injection Energy" and "F.P. Racing", refer to "pie" and the initials of the deco artist's super-secret non-gay friendship cult, respectively."
@@LeeONardo what
@@cartkart1 Yeah that was my reaction too when I read it lol
given how you use SS86 Grimlock Is it safe to assume that you consider him the diamond in the puddle of mediocrity the rest of the line turned out to be?
Pretty much.
@@DrLockdown well then looks like your wish for grimlock to be the acception was granted
i love when reviewers take potshots at cliffjumper whenever they can lmao.
Some people really seem to hate it
@@DrLockdown i like him a lot, and don't mind partsforming, but even i think that car trunk is bs
i had the crasher version, but as a dumb 4 year old i tore it apart, and i now really wish i didnt
Please keep bringing back the wizard, that character's funny!😂
I don't want to bring him back too much, otherwise he gets stale.
You know what, this video has made me want G1 characters to be reimagined. I really hope that WFC, we get something along the lines of this. With modern design philosophies, I feel like it could be really good
Provided we don't get more Beast Wars, which would admittedly be better
See that why I like the Bumblebee designs; they're stylised in a similar way to classics, just with more mechanical detail
@@DrLockdown Exactly! If we got a line of that, that would be awesome!
We get plenty in studio series. Super excited to see what thrust looks like
It looked so nice that I went and bought myself the botcon version for $24
No reason why botcon over the normal just liked the mint better
He looks a bit hungry but he’s cool
Are you going to review unicron
Eventually. Not going to rush it. I'm going to need better equipment first anyway
@@DrLockdown yea Tman978 had to review it on his bed it’s definitely one of the hardest if not the hardest figure to review. and no rush take your time
yes to straxius please !!!
Robot mode kinda reminds me of the sleekness of Prime Soundwave
They've got similar silhouettes, minus the wing arms
Why do I sometimes see Classics Bumblebees with black stripes and some with white?
Different releases
I’ll never forgive kid me for covering this guy with golden star stickers
Oh dear...that sounds horrible
So Mirage was less invisible and more FABULOUS?
It could possibly pull off some good JJBA poses.
It DEFINITELY could.
Nice review but can you please do some more transformers kingdom Beast Wars reviews in the future?
Been thinking of maybe doing airrazor eventually, but I've got other plans first
Nice she and Scorponok are my top two favourite figures from kingdom so far but waspinator is my favourite transformer of all time so when he comes out in the final wave of kingdom he will beat both of them by a mile in my opinion
It's good
He's kinda thicc though considering how sleek his upper body is
I kinda miss the philosophy of stylizing the designs from the older CHUG eras.
Same
eh, due to the lack of a thigh swivel I can't give this figure more than 4 stars(in your metric system)
Eh. There's just too much good here for me to give him anything lower
Dear god someone get this toy a grandma because he’s so skinny!!
IS THAT HASLAB UNICRON⁉️⁉️
Yes
Personally, I think Classics Mirage looks too hunchback-necked and waist-skinny, hardly the athletic heroic body type. IMO it suits the baddy-mold-mates Fracture and Dragstrip better.
It's kind of sad that the best mirage figure Is one from 15 years ago and still superior over the new figures and some third party ones
This figure just doesn’t do it for me. He’s too gangly and thin in all the wrong places
Okay yeah im a g1 fan but i aint no cartoon purist bitch im sorry but the cartoon has horrible story and designs were lackluster and scale is not too big of an issue i try to keep it consistent
The animation was designed to be cheap and quick
@@DrLockdown is it sad i knew that the day i started reading tfwiki
Your words don’t match up with your lips at the end
Yeah I tried fixing it and rendering two.times. Still wouldn't fix it. I just kinda gave up.
Maybe my camera is getting a bit old
