- This Red Dead Redemption Online video will show you what the best horses are for each strength, as well as what horses are the best value, and then what are the overall top 5 best horse choices for Red Dead Online in 2022 are. This video explains what each stat means, and what are the best horses for each role. I will also explain how saddles and stirrups work, and tell you what the best saddle and stirrup combinations are for the highest stamina, highest health, and fastest horse outcomes.
#RedDeadRedemption2 is a 2018 action-adventure game developed and published by #RockstarGames. The game is the third entry in the Red Dead series and is a prequel to the 2010 game Red Dead Redemption. The story is set in 1899 in a fictionalized representation of the Western, Midwestern, and Southern United States and follows outlaw Arthur Morgan, a member of the Van der Linde gang. Arthur must deal with the decline of the Wild West whilst attempting to survive against government forces, rival gangs, and other adversaries. The story also follows fellow gang member John Marston, the protagonist of Red Dead Redemption.
The game is presented through both first and third-person perspectives, and the player may freely roam in its interactive open world. Gameplay elements include shootouts, heists, hunting, horseback riding, interacting with non-player characters, and maintaining the character's honor rating through moral choices and deeds. A bounty system similar to the "wanted" system from the Grand Theft Auto franchise governs the response of law enforcement and bounty hunters to crimes committed by the player.
The game's development lasted over eight years, beginning soon after Red Dead Redemption's release, and it became one of the most expensive video games ever made. Rockstar co-opted all of its studios into one large team to facilitate development. They drew influence from real locations as opposed to film or art, focused on creating an accurate reflection of the time with the game's characters and world. The game was Rockstar's first built specifically for eighth generation consoles, having tested their technical capabilities while porting Grand Theft Auto V to the platforms. The game's soundtrack features an original score composed by Woody Jackson and several vocal tracks produced by Daniel Lanois.
Red Dead Redemption 2 was released for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in October 2018, and for Microsoft Windows and Stadia in November 2019. Red Dead Online, the online multiplayer mode of the game, was released as a beta version in November 2018 before a full release in May 2019. Widely anticipated and marketed before release, Red Dead Redemption 2 broke several records and had the second-biggest launch in the history of entertainment, generating US$725 million in sales from its opening weekend and exceeding the lifetime sales of Red Dead Redemption in two weeks. It received critical acclaim, with praise directed at its story, characters, open world, graphics, and considerable level of detail; minor criticism was directed at its control scheme and emphasis on realism over player freedom. Considered as an example of video games as an art form, it won year-end accolades including Game of the Year awards from several gaming publications. It is among the best-selling video games with over 36 million copies shipped. #RedDeadOnline

What’s the best saddle for the Ardennes war horse ?? Coat strawberry foam
Me riding around with a gray Kentucky Saddler: *this is fine*
This is me 😂
Put a nacogdoches on it and top tier stirrups and you could ride it until you move on from the game.
@@bayoak Bought a Delgado saddle and a Breton so yeah Im doing quite well. (discarded the Kentucky Saddler BTW)
Felt that
I like scrawny nag
You forgot the GOAT of all horses “THE SCRAWNY NAG”
More in par or similar to the Fagio in GTA online, another goat of a vehicle!!! 🙄😅
I loved my scrawny nag. 😭
Or the rdr1 donkey
Scrawny nag a betch, me and my boys sacrifice the horse whenever we get him
Im a new player, And i need a new horse BRUHH
For those complaining about getting bucked - if you use the Slow and Steady ability card your horse cannot buck you (because it cannot run) regardless of animal roars or legendary predators. Cowboy up!
Or cowgirl up lol in the case of the girls too
@@DARKdedsec yea we need to start saying cowgirl. I totally agree with you
*Not me too invested in saving money that I only have one Ability Card*
Or just use a good horse and save the card for something important like pvp use etc
@@lunathedragongamer21 Understood. I've been playing so long I have nothing to buy that I want :(
I really wish the trader role horses didn't have different stats for different coats. It would have been better if you could have unlocked different stats for all the horses as you leveled your role. There's so many coats I absolutely love but their health is absolute shit because it's like the first coats you unlock.
I agree. I think the horses should have the same stats throughout the breed. A Mustang should have the same stats no matter the coat.
the health parameter really is just about whether your horse would tank like 1 bullet more or not and only in pve, not in pvp - so it's not that significant = get yourself the horse you like the most look-wise and get the best saddle+stirrups;)
Stats make very small changes basically unnoticeable. It’s all about the saddle and stirrups. If those are good all horses feel and work the exact same
@@enricokohler475 And don't use a low health horse for bounty hunting or if you do please give them a health tonic! I love my brindle thoroughbred for riding around the map but NPC gun fire easily kills him if he's not toniced up.
@@Dare_To_Game how else would Rockstar make their money if they did that? We all know GTA online has bankrupted them! Haha
Missouri Foxtrotter, Nacogdoches Sadle, and Hooded Stirrups (the last option for Stirrups) This is the best for horses easily. Amazing speed and acceleration. Also, the stamina pretty much never runs out of stamina 😁👍
That's my usual default setup. I change horses periodically when one pisses me off, but that's what i usually come back to.
Norfolk Roadster is easily the better horse
@@cheetah31983 Nah
@@Hi-bp6rx ok, you're entitled to your opinion, but Missouri Foxtrotter doesn't get maximum speed like the Norfolk does.
@@cheetah31983 How is it better?
The Nacogdoches saddle with the Hooded Stirrups is -85% stamina drain rate which eclipses the Upland saddle. For long-distance travel, the Hooded/Naco saddle is the absolute best, no question. However, the Upland is close enough that you should just pick the one you like the best.
As for behavioral tendencies, it's been well documented that horse personality is random and is not dependant on the breed at all.
I think the randomness has a fairly normal level of variation unless you get an outlier. My Ardennes is scared of everything (even with a level 4 bond) and my black Arabian will not flinch under any circumstance
@@fallout0624 I really want to get a white Arabian since I love how they look, do they have the same temperament as the black ones?
@@danix4883 Arabians are very skittish, that's why mine stands out so much for being very brave. They follow closely to the real horses generally which means Arabians will be more likely to draw a skittish one
@@fallout0624 oh shit, what would you recommend between a mustang and a turkamon
@@danix4883 the Mustang is a good choice earlier in the game, the Turkoman is a great breed to get aswell. My general advice is the Turkoman is a better horse once you get to level 4 bonding but if you can spare the money in game get a second horse so you don't have to worry about being stuck with a scrawny nag (even a Kentucky Saddler will do in that situation)
someone is still making these videos for rdo, amazing :D
More to come!
What is ur Prof pic
So very useful. Straight to the point without a bunch of blah blah blah. THANK YOU SIR
Dark bay Turkoman is my favorite so far. And yea I agree, totally one of the most attractive horses in the game :)
Can never go wrong with the Shire imo. I'm into big horses. I like the dark bay. i just tower over everyone else and look down at them from my high horse. Keeping in mind horse speed makes only the tiniest of differences. Long as you calm your horse you will keep up if not over take any of the much "Faster" horses in the game. Especially if you're taking the faster line to the destination
IKR... some of my friends obsessed over the Arabian Horse, it looked hilarious, the 4 of them then in the middle BoB my Dark Bay Shire... he looked like a mutant. lol. They got fed up with me calling them "The Pony People". I just wish they would give us the Raven Black Shire from the story, had him from the beginning of chapter 2 to the end... He was a force of nature to be sure.

Agreed, nacogdoches and stirrups give you 85% drain rate and +3 to speed, upland gives you only 65% drain rate and +2 speed
Just started and got a Missouri Foxtrotter for half price. Perfect for hunting, great stamina, good enough for figthing. Online specific coat.
Don't need other horses, but I'll most likely will.
Wonderful video. Helpful for those just starting out and those having played for a bit longer... Nicely done.
Thank you, i am glad you think so.
Been playing online since beta and have tons of cash and gold to throw away ( and do ) on all the horses.
Love the new Mustangs
Got the buckskin and threw a cougar saddle on it. Looks great and rides great.
Would rate it as my #2 or #3 horse to ride in any situation.
With my #1 being the new chestnut Turkaman.
Don't listen to those that quibble about minor stats differences.
A one bar difference in speed is not noticeable.
Bravery is more skill and knowledge than a hidden horse stat.
All horses will throw you if mishandled.
#1 constantly running your horse full speed heightens it's stress level.
When hunting predators simply and calmly trot your horse into the area and mash your calm or pat button and don't fight the reins.
Wisdom, TY!
Chestnut Turkmans 😍
Just because you mentioned that the Dark Bay Turkoman is the best looking horse in the game, you won a subscriber for life. I am on my 4th playthrough on PC (I can use Lenny's mod to have any horse in the game) still my game doesn't start till I complete the Horse flesh for dinner Quest and steal Cerberus (Dark bay Turkoman) from the Braithwaites. I ma still amazed how RockStar made this horse look so damned handsome. For me this is the USP of RDR2, this Dark Bay Turkoman. Also, a great video all together, fully agreed.
I used the gypsy cob, splash piebald. Love that horse as they don't scare easy and fearless.
I had the Delgado saddle but just a Norfolk and a gypsy thanks for the info
Just to correct one thing, the Stamina Drain Rate on the Nacogdoches Saddle actually stacks with the hooded stirrups, so when you combine the two the drain rate on the Nacogdoches + Hooded stirrups is better than on the Upland. The only real downside to the Nacogdoches, in my opinion, is the look of it.
I rock 3 nacogdoches for 3 horses they all🔥
@@Blazing_JGonzaga why don’t you use the same saddle for all?
@@pedrorenault5335 I only have 3:(

Nagadoche with hooded stirrups is better than upland. Plus you can put collector saddlebags on it. wich allows an extra outfit to be carried. Upland cannot be pimped out..no stirrup no saddlebag.
Exactly thank you very much. Anyone who says otherwise is a mouth breather.
Nacogdoches is easily the best saddle to date.
Yes that's true but which horse do you choose with this saddle to get the perfect horse ?
@TheFloorGaming okay thx, 42 gold is a little bit too expensive for me rn but the roadster Norfolk arn't better ?
@TheFloorGaming Okay I see, thx for the tips
I bought the Black Overo, that you had not recommended, as it costed 20 gold bars, and you know, I purely bought it because of it's look. The white painted fur on the face looks so badass and unique, as it looks like the horses skull. Also, I have a pet rabbit named Oreo who is also black and white, and coincidentally the breed is called "Black Overo" (sounds like "Black Oreo.")
Black Overo are my favorite. It has max health max stamina also fearless.
A $500 Mustang was the 1st horse I purchased, got it to lvl 4 friendliness, just leveled up enough to throw a Nacogdoches saddle on it and it'll run all day compared to the starter horse. Mustangs do seem pretty skittish though, especially around snakes and big cats, again compared to the starter. Thanks for the thoughts for my next one.
Any breed can be skittish. I've tried every top tier role and non role horse and many mid tier horses and all of them respond with fear to predators! Especially big cats.

The first horse I bought as a Buckskin Mustang and I saddled it with a delgado, since so I have never needed to change anything...I really think about buying a Norfolk Roadster horse...but honestly there is no need.
Even when hunting legendary predators the horse is calm and steady.
A little bit full of attitude for sure, sometimes don't come right away when you whistle and when comes, it comes "complaining" and don't come all the way to you...but sometimes it does 😅
I love that horse.
The Mustangs are great horses, and i love the look of the Buckskin.
Thanks for making this video man, when I saw I could get a mustang in this game I set out to buy it as soon as possible. Just was wondering what saddles I should go with and it was a pleasant surprise to see the mustang be one of your top picks!
The Nacogdoches saddle is the best saddle in the game if you have the hooded stirrups! It's a must have!
The mustang has such good stamina that you have more saddle options as long as you add top tier stirrups, which will grant 50% stamina drain rate reduction and let your Mustang run all day with any saddle that allows custom stirrups. The nacogdoches saddle adds another 35% drain rate reduction but with a horse that strong it's overkill, but it is the ONLY saddle to give you one extra bar of spd/acc.
Love your videos man. Half I found your channel
Glad you like them!
Wish I could figure out how to keep and saddle a mule 🦄
Great vid thanks man
Glad you enjoyed it
I wish we could sort of mix stats of horses with others. Like I would love a look of shire horse with a stats of a mustang. I mostly want this because the way I play would cause low health horses to die often and I dont want to buy horse reviver or medicine in bulk. I would pay gold for a feature like this.
I think my main go to horse is the blacked Bretton. It just works best for me, and I like the way it looks.
I had a black breton for a while. He was a good horse.

imo first horse you should buy until you have the level for top tier saddles is a mustang. The max Stam and health will help you loads until you get a top tier saddle. Plus they’re still fast
Great advice. Bond it go level 4 asap by leading it for 90 min or so to max out the health and stamina! Press LS to regen stamina every 20-30 sec.
Great Video!!! Big help for me
Glad it helped!
I've not been playing too long but I absolutely love my gypsy cob, I now use her as main over my dapple grey MFT. Idk something about it just really appeals to me, I got the naturalist role simply so I could get the starting white gypsy cob, even though it has the lowest stats I popped a good saddle on and she can run for ages, speed really doesn't seem too much different like I don't feel like I'm much slower, for me I always go by looks rather than stats and so far the white cob is really working well for me
Ur voice is so calming
I feel very gratified by your recommendation of the buckskin Mustang, which is my favorite horse and pretty much the only one I use.

My new love is the mustang - chestnut just looks beautiful IMO.
Wish they brought out new saddles to compete with upland and Nacogdoches
The Dutch warm blood is so underrated in my opinion, I have one and I love him ❤
Bought the mustang on sales when I started the game. Never bought any other, just perfect.
Mustang + Delgado Saddle, you can kill cougars over running them with the horse
My first horse was a red chestnut Arabian, it’s good but it’s small and you’ll find it harder to pass obstacles where larger horses step over them, it’s also very skittish in a fight

Good informative vid.
A horses stamina doesn’t really matter if you ‘pat’ them while sprinting you gain a ton of stamina back. If they are max bonding.
Also dont forget to get the trinket that makes your horse bonding rate speed increase
Was hoping to get saddlebag info as well.
Would like to mention, Noch saddle is considered superior due to the fact, its stamina drain rate is -35%, but has another -50% (hit RS to view while viewing saddle stats). Collectively giving the Nach saddle 85% stamina drain rate reduction
(the stirrups add -50%, when other saddles stirrups are factored into their totals)
Surprised to hear people don't like the Arabian. I love it. Of course i got it back when the game was new and it's way better then the Kentucky saddler you start with. Then i stopped playing a month after start till last week so i only have them 2 horses. Im a long way from getting my next horse but it may not matter because i will probably worry about looks over stats.
I've got the top Fox Trotter with the Nacho saddle and best stirups. And it was the best states in the game inregards to those white and yellow indicators. The one on top consits of 7 white and 3 yellow. The bottom though always has less consist of the top 3 being yellow also.
U can’t put stirrups on upland the plus 2 speed and acceleration are built in with -65 drain
But the reason y nochadoches is best saddle in the game is cause the saddle comes with plus 1 speed and acceleration -35drain and u CAN put stirrups for an additional plus 2 speed and acceleration -50drain
Totalling +3 speed acceleration and -85drain rate
Just shows what a noob Dare to Game is that he doesn't bother to find this out before posting content.
Nice to know

I have a grey Turkoman and buckskin brindle MFT. I like them both and I’m probably gonna get the top tier Brenton soon as well. There’s a mistake you made though because the drain rate with the Nachodges and hooded stirrups is -85% so it’s got the upland beat by 20% and it can have the collector saddle bags on it which gives me room for 7 outfits instead of just 5 with the upland.
No matter what, I will stick with my seal brown breton by the name "Dinner For Later". He has been the best horse yet for me. 🤫

Black Tovero looks 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Fast horse wise, I managed to get my Criollo to 10 speed with the nagcadoches saddle. Not sure if it was a glitch or what, just thought I ought to share.
Thats the saddle👍
Many horses can get to 10 speed with the Naco/Hooded Stirrups combo. My $150 Piebald Gypsy Cob can keep pace with Arabians with that saddle!
Buckskin mustang is my favorite and the best one I have. Mine has been super brave and full health and stamina ring at max bonding. My go to for anything
The buckskin mustang is great. Its always the horse i recommend to new players that are asking what to get.
Didn’t mention the nacogdoches and hooded stirrups add 1 speed and acceleration
Forgot because i was rushing. the video was getting too long.
@@Dare_To_Game I hear ya. I just think that’s the only stat worth mentioning when considering the nacog. I mean the stamina drain is awesome but eh . All the differences in the top tier saddles are negligible
@@Dare_To_Game it also stacks the drain rate reduction, making it -85% (-50 for stirrups and -35 base) vs the upland's -65%. I love the upland, but Nacodoches is still king.
Upland is only better for core drain rates. Which only matter if you don't ever feed your horses (shame on you). Nacogdoches achieves higher speed and better bar drain rates, once you fully customize it.
Yeah, ffs made me spend money on the upland bs...
Don't think I could give up my gray shire she's been with me since day 1
With top tier horses such as the Arabian and Missouri Fox Trotter, I find that you can equip them with any saddle that you like the look of just as long as they have the hooded stirrups and not see much of a difference. Trust me, you’ll get bored of the nacogdoches saddle on every horse. I only reserve the nacogdoches saddle for the low tier horses that I like the look of who need it.
that's why I like the upland saddle: when calming down your horse, no much difference to the nachagdoches, you won't run out of stamina - - - I also don't have an issue with the nachagdoches, but I really hate the looks of the hooded stirrups, haha
Me: uses Kentucky saddler
Kermit: nah fam
No cap. I keeped my starter horse until I was at least level 100 when I got myself a second horse, I think my horse needs a retirement after all that.
Fox trotter is the best. The one you said you didn’t like for 45 is my favorite 🤩
This guy sounds like Kermit the Frog...good memories, earned him a like.
Just a quick note on bravery: bravery is fun to talk about but in both single player and online ANY horse can be 'brave'.
I've had several Arabian horses that I hunt and gunfight with regularly without issue. Ive actually got an online one that I saved a posse member with by repeatedly charging a panther and tramped the panther to death with the horse. Same one will walk on gators for me.
Your timing with the calm command is super important. Pick a horse you like and learn to control it.
If your horse finishes at 5-6 speed and stamina a good saddle is all you need to run the country mile. I've been able to place or win with the starter horse in varrious events. Recently even with the starter saddle on a walker with 4 in those stats. Ive seen others do well with the scrawny nag too.
As stated at the beginning of this vedio get the one YOU like best.
Some horses will glitch and be pretty aggitated all the time others may glitch the opposite way and become supper steadfast. Or they will have constantly drained cores. This is why i generally avoid horses that cost gold. Sometimes you can fix it with a reload or by switching horses other times you can't. You may need to avoid a stall all together or discard and re-buy the horse.
I don’t like the upland because you can’t change the saddle bag, specifically the collector bag because with it you can add up to 7 outfits in your horses inventory!
I got the dappled roadster, dark turkoman and the blue foxtrotter🔥
Solid picks. All excellent and good looking horses.
Roadster is fast and has good stats and is a regular horse i use but its not good in gunfights. The health is lower and sith a couple shots it goes down. Also jumping off a small incline it tends to get hurt. The breton and gypsy cob level 20 horses are better.
I like the Missouri fox trotter the cow like one!
Me too he is a blue eyed white dragon
I mostly agree with this and have been doing a lot research on the horses lately. I think 'favorite' and 'the best' are very separated with rdr2 horses. I love my Norfolk, but in all honesty the true best horse is the Mustang. Speed might matter in this game more to some people, but it's a fact that speed is absolete when doing any missions, considering how the true time difference between all the fastest horses is not wide enough gap for it to effect completing any mission faster. If a horse is skiddish in this game, it doesn't matter how skiddish it is, it's all the same. The Mustang isnt skiddish. It does not run off when being shot around and putting a bounty on it. I know you already mentioned this, but when the mustang Tovero is at 4 bonding, it's stamina and health bar are maxed out. It's not the fastest, but it's faster than most. And again, speed doesn't matter because when you're in a race and winning/losing, the game itself makes up for it to make sure you stay with the crowd or can catch up. The Mustang really is the best horse when it comes to any mission.
My favorite is pretty consistently the Turkoman, but the mustangs are great.
Any horse with a nacogdoches saddle and top tier stirrups is serviceable. Plus, speed is a bit overrated as each bar only grants a 0.5% speed increase.
I like my big horses. Can't go wrong with Draft horses or the Shire
I’ve got a mustang at level 4 affinity and I’ve ran past 5 gators and it didn’t even flinch
Yes I payed 45 good for the Missouri Fox Trotter cow horse
I'm honestly surprised you don't like the look of the silver dapple missouri fox trotter, I have one named Tohka and she is probably the prettiest horses in my entire stable
Agree completely. Stunning horse, especially after some rain when it’s all shiny.
I’m just level 19 and got myself a mustang a bit ago. Great horse but I’ll have to get myself a better saddle
The best looking horse in rdr2 is hands down the black shire horse 🙌🏼
my top 5 :
1. MFT Black Tovero
2. Turkoman Black
3. Mustang Black Overo
4. Criollo Bay Frame Overo
5. Mustang Buckskin
Mustang unlocks straight away. At least the other colours with buffs.
When i go into saddles at the stables it doesnt tell me the stats of the saddles it only does it for the stirrups
Best Tank Horse is the Kladruber level 20 Trader Horse. That is maxed in health and stamina and very chill with predators other than getting ankle close with gators.
I agree with this… I’ve gone through so many horses… and I have two Kladrubers and they are awesome…. Yeah gators they don’t do very well… and they tend to stay fairly close to me during gun battles
Turkoman>Kladruber
Klud, breton, and mustang
All horse got the same amount of chill.
Horse bravery is not a real thing. All horses will buck you when the animal roars
Black arabian + panther saddle + horse digration trinket = the best horse combo
If you are purely starting off new I would recommend you get the Tennessee Walker. The reason is it has the best use in my opinion with equal health and stamina. Put the best stirrups you can and it will run for a good bit before needing a rest. If you do the horse mission and are not able to get it I highly recommend sinking 50-60 dollars into one. It's well worth it!
I own only one Missouri Fox Trotter and named him Cipher, just because his colors is nearly akin to his F15 and he’s just as great as people say. Now, to figure the outfit that works for it.
Honestly I found that the Breton is the best for my game play what with hunting and collecting then doing a few bounties on the side. Solid horse stable in gunfights handles well not a fan of alligators but won't immediately buck but does come right back when called. Speed is decent as is stamina and health. All around a rank 20 Breton is worth the $955 and the grind of leveling up bounty hunter
I have a thoroughbred horse named Jimmy. He’s the best horse I have. He’s blood bay in color and has never failed me in a competition of speed or combat.
The pre-order on Red Dead Redemption 2, The War Horse. With the Nacogdoches Saddle
The Ultimate Edition horse (Black Chestnut Racing Thoroughbred) is even better than the Missouri Fox Trotters. I swap out between the Naco and Upland saddles.
The blue roan is now my favourite horse and current
