Gable’s popularity on and offscreen ensured he had no shortage of admirers both male and female. Clark was the man every man wanted to be and, every woman wanted to be with. His portrayal as the attractive, roguish, and skillful man of action onscreen epitomized both brutal and gentle masculinity. So, when it came to his love life, Gable had no shortage of lovers. He reportedly slept with many actresses; it was quite common for co-stars to hook up in Hollywood’s Golden Age.
Gable was married five times in his life and was involved in several affairs even during his marriages. Throughout his lifetime, he had affairs with famous actresses of Hollywood’s Golden Age including Joan Crawford, Marion Davies, Grace Kelly, Loretta Young amongst many others.
Clark seemed to enjoy the company of older lovers as evidenced by his first two marriages to women at least ten years older than him.
During his marriage to his first wife Josephine Dillon, Gable began a sordid affair with Texas socialite Maria Langham because she possessed more money than Dillon. When his studio MGM found out, they instructed him to divorce Josephine and marry Maria which he did. Clark and Langham got married in 1931 and separated four years later. They were finally divorced in 1939.
Another one of Gable’s affairs was his and-off relationship with Joan Crawford. This relationship reportedly spanned over 30 years and is even suspected to have resulted in a pregnancy.
Shortly after Clark divorced Ria Langham, he married Carole Lombard. Lombard was considered to be the love of his life as she brought out his playful side. Sadly, their union was caught short by Carole’s tragic death in a plane crash.
Clark’s other affairs involved many other women and at one time, a man!

His son, John Clark Gable, never knew his father--then his own son died (Clark Gable's grandson). Lots of loss for Gable's offspring.

He had to make a choice, plus the fact of his 2nd divorce had wiped him out financially. Carole had a nice nest egg saved up. She was able to make a substantial down payment on the ranch they later bought. I think he cared alot about her for sure. But it's the old story, when money is involved, love will go right out the window.

Much of this is well known. However, I doubt that Gable had an affair with William Haines and this should be treated with caution since there was no way Haines could have helped Gable in his career. Haines’ sexuality ended his Hollywood career and an affair with him would likely have been damaging rather than helpful to Gable.
A lot of the "Big Actor's" back in there time that tried all kind of things including try opposite relations...don't rule it out.

MGM often had to pay blackmail money because of the conduct of some of their stars, Haines was costing more than he was worth. Gable would hardly have pleased Louis B Mayer by such an out of character fling. That’s reason enough to doubt it

There is some controversy here, not sure this is true, but what I read, it was a ruby clip on earring that was found. Her body was brought down from Potosi mountain.
Biographers have written that Carole's wedding ring was never restored to Gabel, since her left hand was torn off in the crash, and has never been found. There are videos of that area, with parts of the plane still there, but only the hardiest adventurers successfully reach the rugged location.
The item received by Gable was a Peice of a Charm of Carol's , he said it was the only thing that was not charred or burnt on her body , her seat on the plane was next to the plane's engine , and that area is loaded with fuel , causing a giant fuel explosion upon impact

I've seen documentaries that claim Eddie Mannix, not Gable, made the trek up Mt. Potosi to search for Carole's remains, in order to spare Clark the ordeal. Mannix claimed what he saw would haunt him for the rest of his life. Clark paid people later to search the crash site for Carole's wedding ring. It has never been found.

I have heard and read - many times from varying sources - that Leigh found Gable physically repulsive because of his bad breath, a problem stemming from a teeth/gum issue. My comment stemmed specifically from that. It follows that Leigh, who was already involved, would not be interested in upfront and up-close with someone that she found personally repulsive. I’ve reread my statement and can’t see that it insinuates the idea in your comment. Else, why would I have called out Leigh only as the menu text implies more than one. Her picture with him, shown on the menu thumbnail, is what evoked the response. Hope this clears it up.

I am surprised that Gable and Vivien Leigh didn't have an affair.
Vivian Leigh allegedly complained of the kissing scenes with Gable during Gone With the Wind because he had horrible bad breath. He reportedly had problems with his teeth. Leigh also may have been married to Laurence Olivier at the time of filming, or at least in a relationship, which could have been a factor as to why there were no reports of an affair.

I wouldn't count out a fling with Vivien Leigh. I read different sources that they were friendly with one another and that both had strong sexual appetites. Even though Leigh was in love with Olivier at the time, this did not necessarily stop her from being with other men, and Lombard was not always with Gable on the set of GWTW. Gable also supposedly had a fling with Evelyn Keyes who plays an O'Hara daughter.
