    The Segway X260 is based off of the Sur-Ron X electric dirt bike. Segway is a large shareholder within the Sur-Ron Company and as a result, they have developed the Segway X260. Aside from some unique styling, the X260 is very similar to the Sur-Ron X. The biggest difference between these two bikes lies within the Segway Ninebot App. The Segway app connects to the bike via bluetooth and allows the rider to select different speed modes and fine tune the power on the bike. Within speed modes, the app features "Twisting Force" which represents the way that the bike reacts to the riders throttle input and "Limited" is the amount of power that the bike receives in sport mode. "Energy recovery level" is another option with the app that allows you to tune the regenerative braking that this e bike provides. The Segway X260 comes with a DNM Volcano Front Fork and a DNM Rear Shock.

    I am an advanced motorcycle street rider. I recently got a KTM 1190 adventure hoping to venture to the off road. When I realized its been 40 years since I even came close to any trail and I was breaking every rule I teach new riders. Start off light and relatively lower power. Even when I put the best off road tires on my bike I will still be on a 500 lbs 125 Hp monster trying to learn off road technique. I am still between this and a KTM 390 ICE not far off in price until you add in all the dealer fees for the KTM. Plus like you mentioned several times how quite it is so I can ride a few miles from my house and practice in a new development and not call attention to myself. Great review and information!

    Another great review, thanks guys! Very interesting your re-gen test, please post it, it's a valid test and people should know. I'm actually headed up tonight above Ogden, Utah on a 3000+ ft elevation gain trail ride (first ride on the surron) and I'm going to record battery level at top, and then at the bottom to see if there is any distinguishable gain. Low expectations after hearing your remarks. And my test is not a constant DH like Pikes Peak is....so now I'm expecting that I won't see any range gain in our decent due to all the flat sections. I'll come back and post my results. I wonder if the Surron can even do a 3k elevation gain ride? LOL. We'll find out!

      We took the SurRons up a single track trail ride last night with 3000 ft elevation gain and a total of about 16 miles. My wife and dad rode them (pretty slowly) and I was shocked at the range. I rode a dirt bike with them. I was expecting the 3k of elevation to kill the battery, but after 3k ft of climbing over 8 miles they both had 60% battery. During the first 1000’ descent they gained 6% and range went up to 66% from regen. Then rest of the ride had flat areas and not as much DH and when we got to the truck they had 65% battery. I was very impressed by this, was expecting much worse. This means even with big elevation gains you could ride about 30 miles if you aren’t wide open fast riding. I will be posting a video and I’ll take it up again and ride myself at a much faster pace to compare the results of a MX racer riding one vs my wife. :) might want to follow me if you are interested in seeing these videos in about a week.

I think not having to use the brakes and whatever little Regen are just tiny little sprinkles ontop of the nice cake of stability when cruising. For the intense fast stuff it doesn't really exist but sometimes I like to have my 3.5 y/o son ride 2 up with me and the Motor Braking is super nice in those cases :)

      @@KenjiFox Hmmmm I would still disagree. For it to have the Regen part, it would need to actually have Regen play a role. Even with Teslas, they currently do not actually Regen well at all. This has to do with batteries not liking that much energy at once so most of it turns into waste heat in the controller. At best you can say EGB(Electric Generating Brakes) cause the energy is not really being Regen back in a meaningful enough way right now.

      I say no. For far far less than $1,400 you can get an ERT BAC8000 controller + NXT screen and get all those features and more along with a 300 amp capable controller. Check out Jack Cecils Sur Ron videos and you'll see. I would not buy a Segway Sur Ron for $5,000 when you can wait a bit, save $1,400 and buy the best controller on the market AND STILL have money left over for tires and brakes.

      Hi I work for Segway and we are not $1,500 different. We are much more price competitive than that plus our version has lights ($250 from Luna) and

      So what else? I dont see anything. If anything I want someone to open up a Segway battery pack and make sure you guys didnt cheap out on literally half the cost of the bike. I use ebike controllers with a 3 speed switch, in low bike is street legal, because of the pre-set power level in the controller. Most set them 50%/75% and 100 %. but there are many controllers you can program, yoyangking makes many bluetooth models, ebikes.ca has a compter programable one, the most features of any controller, based on a controller made in Canada by OSI. @Mayhem Mahan I've ridden the Yamaha SR250 before and that is one great little bike. So bulletproof! If that's what you're thinking of, the Segway will have more torque off the line up to about 40mph but the SR250 will pull far away when the speeds get higher. The Segway weighs less than half of an SR250 and feels that way when you're riding.
      If you're thinking of a Honda XR250, most of the same thoughts apply 😂 Another bulletproof bike that will be beat off the line but will pass the Segway at higher speeds. More range. Heavier and not as nimble. Hope this helps!

    • @ElectricCycleRider
      @ElectricCycleRider  Před 4 lety +5

      @Steven Vaughn It's a very different experience than a 125 2 stroke because it has a very linear power curve, whereas a 125 is a bit of a light switch depending what RPM you're in.
      It's a very easy bike to ride. Probably easier than a 110 4 stroke. And really similar in power too. The Segway / Surron comes on quicker than a 110 in power but it's very tame overall in comparison to a MX bike.

    These bikes are incredible. The problem I have with the e-bike market is the prices.
    I bought a Royal Enfield 650 Interceptor for just under another $1,500 more than this goes for. ICE Dirt bikes on the second hand market go for half of the price of this bike. With a liscense plate. You can ride them anywhere. A low mileage DR200 is around $2,000. Cool bike, and a great review. Enjoyed the video. Can't get around that price tag.

    Where would you recommend buying an eBike and what options would be recommended for lower budget / starter bike?
    I would love to get my hands on an eBike but I dont have a lot of disposable income to drop all at one time, and im hesitant on wasting money on a bike that will break or I won't be able to warranty or repair myself.

  • @BrianLampright913
    @BrianLampright913 Před 4 lety +3

    IF you are considering buying a SurRon, my advice is HURRY UP AND GET OFF THE FENCE. Why? I suspect the prices on them will shoot up very soon. The Segway is$1400 more, the KTM is almost 3x more, and other competitors are now coming out that are in the $7000-$8000 range. Better buy now while these things are crazy low prices, $3600 is a steal for what you get compared to all other comparisons. This is the same price as a decent (not high-end) mountain bike!!!

I'll be taking mine on an MX track at some point, from my initial impressions I think it would be fun on a beginner MX track, but not so fun on a full tilt big jump track. I actually think the perfect type of track for this bike is closer to a BMX jump track rather than a big MX track. But I have less than an hour seat time so far...

      Hi I work for Segway and we are not $1,500 different. We are much more price competitive than that plus our version has lights ($250 from Luna) and ride by wire ($ not sure but it’s more!) - want more than black? We have silver, red and blue. Double check our specs and value point and national presence.

    You can turn off regen now on the lb x. I would turn it off because like you said in this video, that will kill the battery life. Its like charging your phone and for 2 percent then unplug it, then plug it and so on. I always charge lithium ion battery when it gets under 10 percent left but never let it fully die. The no regen is the way to go imo

The Shinko trials tire is great for the type of terrain I'm riding but you can also consider going with a 70/100-19 or 80/100-19(front tire in the rear) if you need a more aggressive tread pattern. Always feel free to reach me on instagram @electriccyclerider if you have any specific questions too. Enjoy the ride!
