@Quirin M. My guy u can't compare a SurRon with a 450cc, the SurRon is the size of Mountain Bike and can actually be a legal e-bike if u get pedals and has the same power as a 125cc and a 50mph top speed (i don't think u can just transform a 125cc in a mountain bike, so that's the diff with the surron).... U should compare the ALTA dirt bike with a 450cc

Segway was originally an American company. It struggled being profitable and eventually was bought by the Chinese company Ninebot (the same co. that had been stealing segway's intellectual property for years). Ninebot now not only owns Segway, but is the largest share holder of Sur Ron. They are essentially the same bike. The main difference is that Sur Ron is made in China and Segway is still manufactured in the United States. That's why Segway is more expensive.

I have both & the bikes are exactly the same except the Segway X260 has a larger battery with about 25 miles more range per charge. Segway has always been a "silent" partner of the SurRon company & yes the majority shareholder and has just decided to take over the brand as the majority shareholder under the Segway brand name. Put it this way if it weren't for Segway funding SurRon the bikes wouldn't exist!

The Segway has region downhill it charges itself it also has a bluetooth app that allows you to adjust work and overall motor output allowing you to adjust how hard the throttle takes off and how much power the motor puts out the Segway you can limit the amount of power the motor is putting out along with how fast it will accelerate basically Al hard the throttle hits when you gun it! Plus the regeneration when going downhill off throttle it will charge itself but it's very minimal basically it has regeneration in the Bluetooth app that allows you to control the torque and motor power for limiting depending on Rider. I don't know if that's worth the extra money or not but it is pretty cool

Sur Ron X has a great electronic throttle with the controller that comes on them now. It's very responsive and the regen breaking can be adjust as well. Not as easy but you attach a wire to go into trouble shooting mode (comes with the bike) and then 1 to 3 short pulls and 1 long pull on your breaks and it changes between the 3 modes. The cable has a flashing light that will let you know it was set.

Be careful, Segway is selling a cheapo 48volt version for that price. The real deal bike that is NOT aimed at literal children costs five grand from segway.
TLDR Segway's $3500 bike is a super slow weak, tiny battery low voltage TOY that is made with the same frame. The wheels are also smaller to lower the bike for kids.

skipsterz - I suppose that depends on your state. In Texas, you can register any of these. The only requirements for motorcycles is a headlight/tail light. You're not required to have a speedo or blinkers although I deffinitely would install some. Just go down to your county tax office and say you want a licensed plate for your dirt bike to make it street legal. They'll have you fill out a form and ship you some fresh plates a few weeks later in the mail. Then you'll have to add any gear to meet local requirenents like blinkers, horn, ect. Then, you go get it inspected just like a car....Done!

Also, about a month and a half ago I saw on the news, Segway was done. More than likely, it was with their Segway. Being that they are in Partnership now with the Sur Ron. Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe I heard that Segway had something to do with the batteries specifically, on these bikes.
