      Definitely lucky to have the space to build something like that! Both riders are 5'11" 155-170lbs. Going downhill they feel very similar to a heavy mountain bike but less playful and more stable. Going uphill they feel like a dirt bike that is much less tiring to move around. It really is the best of both worlds.

    you guys should look into making a bicycle chain conversion kit.it would free up rolling mass and maintain durability!this bike really dosnt need a motor cycle chain.a beefy bike chain will hold 20hp no problem!i did a go cart with one a longtime ago.the cart had a 25hp snowmobile engine.

    • @emotobros
      @emotobros  Před 3 lety

      Interestingly, people are actually trying to go to a bigger chain. The issue isn’t HP, it’s the amount of torque. The chain that’s on there now experiences so much torque that it’ll stretch over an inch just in 200Mi of riding. Reducing chain size would only exasperate this issue.

      Hey, we ordered May 4th and didn't receive them until the 17th of June. The bikes are getting so popular that most shipments are always between 4-7 weeks out from the time you order. Ours were slated for early June delivery so I'd say they were a bit behind. Something to note also is that we didn't select any options with our so they were the first to be shipped out from Luna. If you ordered something like the belt drive or super-moto tires it'll take longer because they have to unpack your bike, install the options, re-pack and then ship.

    I will never sell my dirt bikes over an e-bike. The maintenance on a dirt bike are far less than this video states. Example: one of my dirt adventure bikes is an '03 DR650 and runs perfectly with zero rebuilds, I ride it once a week for the last 20 years. I do like the concept of the Talaria and Sur Ron, but I will wait for a non-Chinese option. And $8k for a mountain bike with a little battery...fuck that! I doubled my range using another 60V battery in parallel with the original. The problem is you have to account for the change in cg because of the weight away from the mid point center line of the bike. Anything outside of the frame such as pannier batteries or a backpack battery affects your rotation tremendously while airborne. But if you are a pavement queen then adding extender packs is just about properly wiring a correctly made battery.

    • @BrogrammerBasics
      @BrogrammerBasics Před 3 lety

      If you want more wattage then you will need to bypass your battery management system, or incorporate a new electronic speed controller like Captain Codswallop recommended with the ASI BAC8000, also the ASI BAC4000 would work just as well (note you need to power these controllers with a higher voltage battery 18-20s to see real differences in wattage).

    there's quite a few more pros and con compared to a dirt bike....a HUGE one that you forget( regardless of claimed power specs which there really is just no comparison IE those suron torque number is fake as all get out) the fuel source. Im sure if you took the suron to a trail and ripped it for 45 mins up and downhill it would be dead. You then have to have a means to charge it and time to wait. Refueling a dirt bike it instant and can lend to hundreds of miles per tank (depending on style and type of riding and bike). This is the MAIN issued why I havent switched over. If you call them both dirt bikes, its like comparing a prius to a ferrari in their respective use cases(if the prius only ran for a very limited time and had no pertrol backup). It think these things are GREAT backyard bashers, but to compare them to dirt bikes it hard a pill to swallow.

    • @emotobros
      @emotobros  Před 3 lety +2

      We agree the the list could have been longer. The sur-ron is capable of as much as any nice ICE dirt bike. There are guys winning supercross races against built 450s on Sur-Rons. Where they currently fall flat is the range. Riding hard you get 20-25mi on a charge. The thing is, for less than the cost of a new 250f you can get a sur-ron, 2 extra batteries and a controller that makes it faster than a 250. This setup will be half the weight of even the nicest dirt bikes and be able to get through a 60mi day of riding. We take ours everywhere we took the ICE bikes and have been faster and less tired on the Sur-Rons than anything before it. In your analogy, I'd argue that the Ferrari is the Sur-Ron. Hope that helps give a better insight.

    • @liverebel
      @liverebel Před 3 lety

      @@emotobros I didnt think it was this way before....but you have drank the koolaid. There is not one professional motocross race (raced by professionals) where a suron has ever beat a 450 moto. It doesnt have the suspension, the power, or the longevity. I have owned over 100 dirt bikes and ridden since the 80s. I also own a light bee. There is no comparison, its 2 completely different things. A suron couldn't muster the longevity, let alone the power, to finish a supercross or a 30 minute moto. So if your comparison is taking the best suron rider in the world and placing them against some D tier moto class...maybe...and thats a doubtful maybe. You can buy a brand new 2020 KX250F for just shy of $6k at the moment(from a dealship just search it). and its hard to fill that gap with controller, batteries, forks, and shocks. You'd have alot into a suron (maybe more than 6k) to make it a moto bike. I considered doing it to mine, but i decided to just ride it for what it is, a fun little small frame bike thats fun to tool around on. There are plenty of videos of people riding (non moto) tight trails courses (experienced riders) where the Gas bikes are besting the suron by smallish margins (10-15%). That is giving the suron the absolute best possible scenario(taking away almost any advantage the gas bikes power, range, and suspension offer it). My only issue is dont lie to people. A suron is NOT a motocross bike and not one single Supercross race (a serious/professional one) has ever been won by a suron vs a "built 450s" ($30,000 pro moto factory bikes). The Suron simply couldnt complete a 20 min+1 SC race with all the hard up hill pulls. I get around 15 mins of hard riding on mine around our SC track and being 6'5" tall, its a struggle on the suron(140mm seat height deficit is brutal). Its just not meant to do it (competitively). Its an awesome little bike, but DO NOT be confused it is NOT better than a moto bike at what it is designed to do, by any margin. It is about the same power wise as my sons KX65 (on the bottom ONLY!) It is FAR slower than my daughers KX100. For people who want a small, peppy, light, eco friendly, neighbor friendly, city friendly machine, its great!

      @@liverebel So to begin with, I never said it was a professional race. I said a supercross race against built (not factory which by the way are way more than $30,000) 450s. Here is the link to that: facebook.com/100042042695761/videos/298666521544769/
      I still disagree that there is no comparison, they are both off-road, two wheeled machines with front and rear suspension, disc brakes and a motor. The only difference is weight, power and rigidity 2 of which can be better on the sur-ron than an ICE dirt bike. Of course stock they aren't comparable but we aren't talking stock. We are talking what you can get for the same MSRP price.
      I also never said it could finish a 30min moto or a full length monster energy supercross race so those points don't seem relevant. Beyond that there are videos comparing stock Surrons against a 'factory edition' ktm where the time difference around a woodsy trail was only 10 sec over a 4min track. But again, I wasn't talking stock. Regardless, the point still stands that if a $3,600 e-bike is that close to a $10,000 ktm when it's stock, then for less than $6,000 you can make it far better.
      Also, we didn't lie to anyone. Where did we ever mislead people into saying it was something that it isn't?
      Beyond that, I think something may be wrong with your sur-ron if it only lasts 15 min and is barely faster than a 65cc dirt-bike. I've ridden the surron along side built 110s and none of them were even close and it also lasted longer than an hour, so you may consider checking into that.
      Regarding your experience, I think it's quite obvious why you prefer a full size dirt-bike if you are 6'5" this bike wasn't even made for someone 5 inches shorter than you so obviously your not going to feel comfortable on it.
      Finally, you're a bit off on the pricing.
      Base SurRon: -$3,600
      New suspension: -$1,500
      2 New 72v batteries: -$3,200-$4,200 (there is more than 1 option I'll average at $3700)
      BAC 4000: -$800 (the BAC 8000 is capable of producing far more power than the surron can use and is overkill)
      Brake pads and Tires: -$150
      Selling stock parts
      Battery and Controller: +$2000
      Stock suspension: +$600
      Total Cost: $7,150 (MSRP not everyone can get deals). Not only is that cheaper than any brand new 250, I'd ride this any day over any ICE dirt bike out there.
      If you want to argue that you can't count selling the stock parts, there are companies out there that sell built surrons with the parts I've listed minus the extra battery for ~$7,300
      I think these bikes are capable of far more than you're giving them credit.

      @@emotobros I did miss putting a 1 in front of the $30,000.00. So that video is exactly what i expected. Some high tier rider running a bunch of D tier guys in the 40+ class(for fun class). I dont hate the suron, but to tell kids that its better than a dirt bike is a FALSE CLAIM. It is good at what it was designed to do, ride trails and cruise along. It is NOT a moto bike (like a kx250) in the way and style that the KX250F was designed to be ridden and its use case. Im even pro electric guys!! I used to run nitron RC cars back in the 1990-2000s and then the brushless electric came along and it was hard for me to adopt them. I did and they are superior in every way now(my kids play with brushless Arma stuff now). Electric bikes are not dirt bikes(i use this term to refer to moto bikes). Now they make electric dirt bikes KTM and Alta do (or at least they did). They are also inferior to gas bikes in every way. The point is dont buy a suron thinking its a dirt bike, it isnt. And for the price of a suron (if you want a dirt bike) you can pickup a TON of used options that will last until suron as a company has ceased to exist and is all but forgotten. I will still be able to find parts (and service) for my 1989 250R. There will be a time when electric bikes will FOR SURE surpass gas bikes, but its not now, and its not suron(by a long shot).
